Heritage Auctions has acquired 300 of the most collectible Golden Age classic covers to auction off without reserve. 150 books from the Dino Mauricio Collection will be on the block at the firm’s Feb. 20–21 New York Signature Auction.
“Dino Mauricio set out 20 years ago to assemble the best that Golden Age comics have to offer: patriotic flags and victories against America’s wartime foes, shocking pre-Code covers, delightful good girl and sci-fi fantasies, and hilarious and oddball covers,” said Alex Miller, consignment director at the New York office of Heritage Auctions.
“The collection has everything from keys like Superman #1 and Detective Comics #31 to rarities like Great Comics #3 with its “Hitler in Hell” cover. The artists are a real who’s-who, with the likes of Alex Schomburg, Frank Frazetta, Mac Raboy, Bill Everett, Lou Fine, Matt Baker and more.
