The Summer Featured Auction will highlight valuable vintage comic books and original comic art. Similar to the May Featured Auction that just concluded, it will be a blockbuster. The initial auction preview was just launched with these early additions:
Comic Books: A full Gaines File Copy run of Two-Fisted Tales, the second half of the highest-graded run of Green Hornet Comics, Spirit #22 CGC 7.0 (classic cover), Venus #10 CGC 7.5, Captain America #100 CGC 9.8, Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.8 (first New X-Men), Iron Fist #14 CGC 9.6 (first Sabretooth), Batman #227 CGC 9.2 Signature Series, and Amazing Spider-Man #194 CGC 9.9 (first Black Cat).
Original Artwork: Jack Kirby artwork will be featured in this auction, including the best Thing vs. Dr. Doom page from Fantastic Four #40 ever to surface at auction, and an explosive twice-up Jack Kirby Thor vs. Ulik battle page from Ulik’s first appearance issue, Thor #137. There is also already significant artwork in the preview by the likes of Bernie Wrightson, Jim Lee, George Perez, John Romita, John Byrne, Kevin O’Neill, Gill Fox, Ross Andru and more!
New items are being added on a near-daily basis, so we suggest that interested parties bookmark the preview and check back often. We also encourage sellers to correspond with us about potential auction placement as soon as possible so that we may expose the material to our bidders.
The June and July Focused Auctions will include a wide range of Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age / Modern comic books. The July Focused Auction will also contain relatively affordable comic-related artwork. Already, there are nearly 2,000 items uploaded to the June Focused Auction preview. From major Silver Age keys such as X-Men #1 CGC 7.0 and Golden Age goodies such as a low-grade Batman #1 to sought-after Bronze and Modern Age gems like Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.8 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 9.2, these Focused auctions will have something for just about every collecting focus. Other Silver Age examples already uploaded to the June Focused Auction Preview include: Adventure Comics #327 CGC 9.8 Northland (highest, one of three), Amazing Spider-Man #4 CGC 9.0 (first Sandman), Fantastic Four #10 CGC 9.0, Journey Into Mystery #92 CGC 9.4 White Mountain, and Tales of Suspense #42 CGC 9.4 (fourth Iron Man). Bronze Age keys include examples such as Batman #227 CGC 9.4 (classic Neal Adams cover), Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.8, Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.6 (first full Wolverine) and more. Golden Age examples include items such as Action Comics #76 CGC 5.0 (WWII cover), Batman #37 CGC 7.5 (Joker cover), Captain America Comics #63 CGC 6.5, a run of tough early Strange Tales issues including #2 CGC 4.0 and #6 CGC 6.0 Spokane, Terrific Comics #2 CGC 6.0 (Schomburg WWII cover), and USA Comics #17 CGC 8.5 (Schomburg WWII cover). With the auction launching on June 11 and cash advances available for quality material, placement in this auction offers a very quick turnaround, and it is a great way to free up some funds for the summer convention season.
