The Crimebusters #1/120 - big news!

Big news!! The first issue is off to the printers for proofing! I'm totally stoked! I've also been wrestling for awhile with the numbering for this first issue. I really, really want to keep the legacy numbering from Boy Comics, but at the same time, I know there are some (weird) readers who may not even give the series a try if it's got a #120 on the cover. So... I've decided to just print copies with both numbers and let people choose whichever number they want. To be honest, I'm not s

The Crimebusters #120 - Kickstarter goals and Squeeks the crimefighting monkey!

Getting close to the June 11 launch on Kickstarter! Right now, I'm neck deep in Kickstarter stuff, so I decided I'd share some of that process with everyone in my new blog. And I'm sure I'll be writing a lot more about the process and experience as things progress! crimebustercomics.com/2019/05/17/kickstarter-101-goals-stretch-goals-and-rewards/ The main things: my initial goal is $500, but if we hit the $800 stretch goal, I will be adding a 4-page Squeeks solo back-up story to the book,

Detective 395

Picked this one up from Pedigree Comics just now. A landmark issue in that it features the first pairing of writer Denny O' Neil with artist Neal Adams. The two would go on to greatness, of course, with the GL/GA run a few months after this. This issue also takes Batman into a more gothic area, which would continue for years throughout the seventies. Definitely one of the holy grails of my collection. And my first signature acquisition since 2016. Four more Adams books to go. Enjoy.

The Death and Return of Superman Collector's Editions

The Death and Return of Superman saga is so 90s, and also credited with the beginning of the publishing gluttony that paved the way for the market crash later in the decade. One such 90s thing about this set is the number of "Collector's Editions" released. I have most of these and enjoy them, but it has been frustrating finding them graded. These editions crowed just about every comic shop in America but I never see any raw 9.8 candidates. Most of the graded examples are also listed with high B

The Crimebusters #120 - quick update

The comic may be done, but that doesn't mean the work is finished! I'm currently doing a bunch of production stuff — formatting, editing, all that fun nonsense. My hope is that by the end of next week it will be ready for the printer. I'm also toiling away at the Kickstarter campaign. I have a couple really cool rewards to share with you down the road, but for now, here's a look a the custom Funko Pops that I hand painted; a very limited number of these will be offered when The Crimebusters goes

The Crimebusters #120 update: the art is finished!

Hello, friends! I am excited to share with you that the first issue of The Crimebusters is now done! Sure, I have a few things left — like a two page text piece, and the inside front cover — but the art is now complete for the 30 page story! I've been working on the art since October, so I am thrilled to finally finish it. My first comic! I can't wait to get a copy in my hands.  I'm also looking forward to sharing it with everyone. Next week I'll be announcing the date when this will go live

United comics 21 tied 1st peanuts

Just got this book. It was in utterly in horrible shape. But i am super super happy to have it. I repaired spine with as minimal tape as possible but i had to use more than i wanted to just do to books condition. Cleaned what i could without damaging book or tearing it. Fixed interior. Pressed and very happy with results.  Now i have an adequate place holder.  This was an absolute blast to see this book change.

Help! What is this?

I am a collector of Superman One-shots, but I am stumped by this one:  Superman: The Album nn This is not a slot for Superman: The Wedding Album -- that's already accounted for.  Nor is it a slot for the "Superman Record Comic," a comic that accompanied a 1966 LP.  There's already a slot for that, too. I'm stumped.  Looked on-line for some ideas, but came up empty.  There evidently are some -- at least one -- graded copy(ies) out there.  Anybody?  What is this?   A census sea
