  1. Fellow participants! Last year I won the sixth contest and bagged a $500 grading credit that I'm never going to use. With Mike's blessing, I would like to offer that $500 credit to whoever comes sixth in this, current contest. Six is a favourite number of mine, if you hadn't already guessed. So, let it be known - if you want to win some grading credits, try to come first, second, third or sixth this time. Good luck to everyone and thanks to Mike for agreeing to the transfer 37pino @1Cool @AbsoluteCarnage @ADAMANTIUM @Ahsoka Tano Jedi Apprentice @aj_curated @AJD @alecholland @AnthonyTheAbyss @apocalypse76 @ArAich @ArcherC @ashsaytr @asteroid-comix @aszumilo @Axelrod @batcollector @Batman Fett @Benjamin1977 @BlackOut21 @Bmattioli86 @boron @BrashL @brumil190 @BuscemasAvengers @canickus @Carpendaddy @Cerebus3000 @CHASEnBLUE @CJ Design @Cman429 @comicstock @ChrispyC66 @comicginger1789 @Crose87420 @Cushing Fan @Dark Elf @Darwination @davidking623 @Deputy Dan @Doctor Dositheus @Dormian @Dr. Ogie Porterhouse @EastEnd1 @eeb03 @Electron @F For Fake @FigaroToe @flashlites @frozentundraguy @FSQIV @GawkHawk @genrlzod @grendelbo @Grendel72 @Hudson @Jackhartmann @jas1vans @jayhawker @jbpez @jcjames @Jesse-Lee @JohnH19 @John R @JollyComics @JWKyle @Kramerica @KryptoMayor @LiftedAndShifted @Lninefingers @makeminemarvel @Mars76 @mattn792 @mikenyc @misterrmystery @Morganmi @Motor City Rob @Mr. Zipper @musicmeta @ned @Nschenks @old_dano @Old Fashion PB and J @Panda2 @paqart @pastandpresentcomics @Pickie @pmpknface @Point Five @Ride the Tiger @sagii @Sandflea @scburdet @silverseeker @skypinkblu @SNiPER @southern cross @spidermanbeyond @SpidersComics @Supa-Bad-Mofo @Superman2006 @TC33 @TheGeneral @thehumantorch @TheTallGuy @thingsofstuff @thirdgreenham @timfinz @tmac100 @Tom789 @topcat54 @topofthetotem @toro @trmoore54 @TSwift25 @TTG @Vince G @Warlord @William-James88 @WilliamLunt @Wipple @Withering Wind @Yorick @zzutak

No, there are no shenanigans.... We sell these runs regularly, we assemble these runs or sell them intact when they com that way. Most of what we sell on Neatstuff are comic runs and lots... If you see something relisted, it is due to non payment. Ebay does not force bidders to pay and we as sellers have no other option than to relist unpaid items. I'm sorry that you had any concern here, we do hope our 100% positive feedback rating and 25+ years in the hobby serves as some assurance to bidders. I wish you would have reached out to us prior to making a public thread with a false implication in the title. This is a disappointing and unfortunate way to address this question. Looking at the other thread OP posted in about this, if you compare the auctions in question you can see the books are not identical in each listing. We have a huge warehouse and a massive load of batman comics. We have 8 more of these runs ready if anyone is interested. Brian

  9. Andrew. Allow me to break my "vow of silence", as it were, for a second, because you're taking some very aggressive shots at me, none of which are justified. When I first responded to your drawing, I had no idea that you had no idea how the mechanics of Gen 2 cases (which is what you have) worked, so I was reminding you...yes, with my "crude" drawing...that what you had drawn was physically impossible without A. popping another corner post, or B. (and infinitely less likely) warping and damaging the inner well and comic inside. Most people I know who spend $$$ on slabs have seen one or two cracked out, or have done it themselves, or at least watched a crackout video on the internet, to familiarize themselves with how the product they're putting so much trust in works. You don't need to crack a 4 or 5 figure slab to do that. And now, you're angry...again...because you didn't understand what you were dealing with, and when someone gently corrected you, reminding you of the properties of the inner well (and not knowing you didn't know those properties)...with a picture, no less, which is about as non-confrontational as it gets...you immediately assumed bad faith, immediately assumed someone was "making a joke at your expense." But nothing could be further from the truth. I don't need to be "right" at the expense of others. No, I want everyone to be correct, so that everyone works from a position of knowledge. I am a buyer AND seller of slabs. It is not only in my nature to want to be factually correct about the things that interest me, as a matter of personal pride, but it is in my business interests to make sure that misinformation about slabs doesn't proliferate. While everyone was praising your admittedly excellent drawing, they had missed the fact that there was a glaring error in it: the idea that a comic is not sealed into the inner well, and can simply be "tilted" and "pulled out" if one corner post is broken. That is not correct, for ANY generation of slab. My goal wasn't to make you feel stupid. My goal was not to anger you. My goal was not to belittle you. My goal was not to "tweak" you. My meme about geometry was a very gentle poke about the physical impossibility of your drawing. My goal isn't...and I cannot emphasize this enough...to "shoo anyone away", but to make sure everyone goes into comics with KNOWLEDGE, because knowledge is power. People who know what they're doing are much, much less likely to be scammed, taken advantage of, or, as in your case, assume they're being taken advantage of when they're not. My goal was to bring you to understanding, and prevent MISunderstanding in others who, like you, don't know the mechanics of these cases, how they're designed, and how they function, and might look at your drawing and internalize it, thinking what you drew is possible. It is not. It never has been. And it's important that that idea was corrected. So, just so you know: for Gen 2 (which is what your slab was) slabs, the inner well is nearly the entire length and width of the case, and it is divided into two parts: the bottom part where the comic sits is completely sealed by a sonic weld on all four sides and cannot, outside of QC issues, be opened without cutting on the inside of that weld. The top part contains the label, and is lightly welded into the label on both sides, while the top is unsealed and open. I get it. You're a very educated and talented man. You spent a lot of time and energy getting to where you are. And no one likes to be corrected, especially in public. But there are a lot of people who know a lot more than you AND me about many subjects here. And there's nothing wrong with that. Instead of assuming bad faith, perhaps just asking "what do you mean by that?" would smooth out the rough spots that may not actually even exist. Everyone has something they know that others don't, and learning is a lifelong process. I hope my explanation brings clarity, if not reconciliation.

  10. For anyone that is interested I have been contacted by a detective in Oregon who has been tasked with handling the case associated with Mike and HR. It seems law enforcement is getting involved, and you will likely hear from detectives out of the Albany, OR Sheriff’s department soon. If anyone would like the detective’s contact info; DM me and I will ask them about having you added to the investigation.

  11. There’s a lesson here. If you’ve ever been tempted to buy a CGC slab WITHOUT looking up the grading notes… maybe an ebay BIN OMG OMG gotta get it before anyone else does! — print up the grading notes to this Secret Wars #8 and post them on your wall. 8.0. Good grief.

  18. Huzzah for garage sale season! There's a father and son who do a regular garage sale every Saturday from around Derby until October, and today was the first sale of the year. Nice guys and they always have interesting stuff. Picked up some great old store display pieces today. I've been looking for this Spider-Man sign for a bit, and this thing is cherry, even came in the original plastic sleeve (though opened). Also picked up the DKR display at a great price, and this X-Men Mutant Gear hanger which I've actually never seen before. Not sure where I'm going to put it!

  20. As an aside, if the Detective's name is Flake Cantina and he only agrees to take the case if you video chat with him, there is nothing to be suspicious about! Just email his business associate who shares the same email address for references.

  22. Well my first eagle has landed. My first submission to CGC. I dropped this off at WonderCon on 3/29 and got it today. Quicker than I expected. Came back a little better than I expected. I had it at 7.0 so I guess my grading skills aren’t too bad. This slab is THICK! I will have to add on to the comic room if I keep doing this. Now, I wait for my two “value” submissions…

  23. Hmm, I'm in the bottom tier, born during WW2, but I like comic books as much as I ever have. Started reading them around 1952.

  24. Here are the ComicLink Session 1A and 1B results for select books. I added some additional comparisons on the far right of the chart - comparing GPA last to GPA 90-day and GPA 12 month. There are more reasons to be encouraged if you look at just the GPA vs GPA results - some signs of stabilization or slowing declines for certain books. That being said - there seemed to be some very wonky "last sale" data mixed in here - both high and low wonky. CL had a few bright spots here and there - but still no CL love for "pandemic hot" marvel titles like GSX 1, Hulk 181, etc.

  28. Finally bagged a nice copy of the 1st Edition (PBO) of "Reefer Club" by Luke Roberts. Uni-Books No. 49, 1953 with the iconic Warren King cover. One of the toughest of the US drug books, it's compounded by being a "Uni-corn" with any kind of complete cover due to the paper thin covers. It has a nice chip off the back but still the nicest looking copy I've seen for sale in 7 years of looking. This completes the USA "Reefer Trifecta", along with "Reefer Girl" and the 2nd (Canadian actually) Edition under the Stallion imprint, re-using the censored version of the cover from "Basement Gang"
