I'm not sure what's funnier. 'Spring is here' or the fact that the kids are so unsympathetic.

If there was a caption competition, my entry would be this:

    "AAAARRRRRGGGHH!"

I think the same gag is better done on this one. Though there's an argument to be had that the Donald one forced the artist to draw an unnaturally low ceiling.

It's time to keep your appointment with the Wicker Horse.

I think it's actually a wooden horse, but that wouldn't work as well, would it?

How do the Australian comics differ from the American ones?

Quite a few differences. They have paper covers, not glossy cover stock. The page count was lower than American issues, sometimes dramatically so - 24 pages versus 48 or 52 for the WDC&S issues (later 32 v 36 pages). Lots of Australian comics were in B&W inside, including early Disneys. But by the time of this one the Disneys were full colour - and the local editors would go to great lengths to insert a 'u' in 'color' or 'neighbor' in the text!

these Jane books (which i have never heard or seen before)  have nice covers !

They were Australian compilations of UK newspaper strips. Apparently US distributors turned down reprint rights because the strips were too risque - there is nudity and lingerie a plenty.

Why, is that a double covered Donald I see before me!

    Or a nice internal covery-looking splash? :)

It's the cover of an 8 page lift out "bonus" comic. Often found separately, but this one is still in place.

I want to "like" this one twice...

Me too! I got this in a trade, which I rarely do. I'm still torn about it though - I traded an Australian Captain Science.

    Drek?

Well, standard Disney kid's adventure stuff. Not to my taste these days, but they evidently sold pretty well because there were a dozen of them published by Dell.

... did Silver Starr ever battle the Silver Flash ?

No, I'm not aware of any crossover stuff in old Australian comics.

Love Stanley Pitt as Australia's Alex Raymond! Thanks for posting scarce Australian comics with choice b/w interiors.

No problem, I'm happy to share them. And, yes, Pitt is very obviously influenced by Raymond, though there are worse things to be! Since you enjoyed those, here are a couple of pages from this colour edition and one other I had a scan of.

Count the ACTUAL full colour pages? What other types of full colour pages are there Andy? Are some pretending?

At the time the majority of Australian comics were still B&W but some had "colour pages" that were black, white and red, like some pommy UK books.
