In my opinion, if you are buying those 4 items in one transaction, of course the 2 least value items would be the free ones. But why put yourself in that position anyway... just make it 2 separate transactions. However, a good clerk/owner, knowing the customer could just make it 2 separate transactions anyway, would just ring it up separately without having to be told to do so. P.S... my wife thinks it should automatically be $53, so what do I know.

+1 Are we certain that, at this point, @Hero Restoration is just inept at business? I'm not quite certain if Mike's eventual bankruptcy will cover what is looking more and more like outright fraud.

I had 2 bathrooms remodeled in 2022 for a total of 13K and didn't pay a dime up front. I had my roof done in 2020 (including 3 skylights, and a shed re-shingle) for 8K and, again, paid in total at the end.
