  1. Would you mind sharing? I just gave some advice, if it's not going to be listened to and this is just a waste of my time, please let me know.
  2. That is a lot of stuff... A LOT. You can tell he loved the Superman... With all the money he spent on it, I reckon he could have had an Action #1. And who knows, maybe he does. Good luck with that!
  3. I've just walked into this disaster of a thread... Dude if you stil want to sell a million dollar comic, you need to hit reboot. You need to step away and evaluate your life. HARD! Nobody else. You need to get off this pitty train, eat some humble pie, apologise to your parents and go back to living with them. You're going to get rid of your debt and you're going to learn from your mistakes. See what others do. They buy keys and resale. Get a job and after all your debt is paid start saving. Little amounts here and there. Buy a key. Sell for a profit. Use the money to buy another key. Rinse and repeat, but for the love of god stop roaming for attention and do something. Best, Bruno
  4. Holy . Not to pile on but me.... This is beyond what I'd ever expect to see. I'd have put the ban hammer down. This is a HOBBY. If You do not have the means to survive then maybe that should be your hobby. Finding a way to get your life on track, and by that I don't only mean financially but morally. I'm sure chip won't see this and some will label me as someone who doesn't understand. For those who defend him my suggestion is as follows. Ask him for financials, and then pay them off if you are so willing. As to me. Im just glad I never had dealings with him and I hope everybody that has, has either received their items or has received their money back. Bon voyage.
  5. Me and my wife got married on the 22nd of August, 2016. Really nice venue, friends and family. Everything was perfect. We both decided that we wanted to go to the Maldives. Our dream destination. We had both wanted to go there for ages, and we saved up for about 2 years of quite rigorous saving so that we could have everything paid off by the time we got married. That meant no more comics for me and we were both on a strict budget. After a great honeymoon, Mister smart pants (ME) decided, well, we want to have a family, let's look at getting a bigger house. We find the one for us. Lovely house where if we want to we can stay there for the rest of our lives and still have enough space for anything we need. All is well, and then on December between Christmas and New Year my wife drops the bomb.-Stan Lee's going to stop doing conventions. 2017 is going to be his last year.I was gutted! I'd always wanted to get a book signed by him in person, wanted to meet the man, get the famous Stan Lee smile, maybe even a handshake. My wife knew this as well. She was used to my moaning of wanting to get an X-Men #1 signed by Stan Lee, plus the fact that I had to buy one first. Ufff. This would never happen. She then said it. -Let's go. Let's go to it. I've already checked. He'll be at Chicago. Let's go.I was shocked. Reminding me why I married her in the firt place. Anybody that is married or living with their partner in the hobby knows. What the wife says, goes!To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

    Act 0: Prologue

I'm 30, happily married and I've never been to a comic convention. I've been around the forums for a bit, I've bought some nice comics, tried to complete some collections, but I've never been to a comic convention. And I've never met Stan Lee. The two kind of go hand-in-hand. This year (2017), that's going to change.Act 0: PrologueI'm 30, happily married and I've never been to a comic convention.I've been around the forums for a bit, I've bought some nice comics, tried to complete some collections, but I've never been to a comic convention. And I've never met Stan Lee. The two kind of go hand-in-hand.This year (2017), that's going to change. The problem is, even if I had gone to a convention, I live in the UK.Having someone like Stan Lee come over was rare, but not only that, a few years back, he stopped touring Europe all together. So why is this so important?Let me tell you a bit more about myself (yawn)...I was born in South Africa and moved to Portugal when I was 6. Spoke a bit of portuguese but not that much. The first friend I got in Portugal, was the son of my grandfathers neighbour. He was a few years older than me, and the first interaction I had with him was him showing me X-men toys. I had no idea who any of these characters were. He explained them to me, told me the backstories. He then showed me the show he had recorded on a VHS. I was hooked! I loved it!Fast-forward a few years.I must have been 10 or 11. I loved going to the cinema and one day after I left the cinema I saw what looked like an American comic. It was such a rarity to see those in Portugal. We usually got those horrible little books. Great for reading but it never felt authentic. (image attached)Anyway, saw this comic. X-Men. It was part of the Onslaught Arc.I loved it. Started collecting these portuguese variants from a publisher called Devir.Bought all of the X-men books I could find.Marvel became 2nd Nature. I'd consume any media that was Marvel.TV Movies (Generation-X), OLD movies (Punisher with Dolph Lundgren, Thor, Ferrigno's Hulk)And finally, I heard it, in a Spider-man video game. Excelsior! The man himself. That voice, slightly raspy. Recognisable, friendly, familiar.I become a Stan Lee fan.To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
