  11. Hello, comic book friends! It's time for another sale of back issues to help fund making comics! For the past four years, I've been focusing on making comics rather than collecting them. So far, I've successfully funded 7 comics on Kickstarter, and I'm about to launch my next Kickstarter for my newest comic, The Crimebusters #5. But it's the nature of the beast that I need to pay my artists up front. And right now, I've got multiple comics currently in progress. So it's time for another sales thread to help fund the art for my newest comics! All the money from all sales in this thread will be used to make NEW COMICS. I have three comics in progress at the moment: The Crimebusters #6, a romance comic one shot, and a new epic fantasy series called Quest which is my homage to classic Bronze Age books like The Warlord and Conan. I had my artist do a double page spread for Quest as an homage to Warlord. Here's a look at it - this is what your purchases will be funding! Anyway, books coming right up! I just wanted to give you a peek at exactly where your money is going!
  12. 1. in thread trumps PM conversations. 2. In the case of multiple PMs, or take its, I will go by time stamp. 3. no HoS/probation people please. I'm Crimebuster, not Crimeenabler 4. shipping is FREE to the U.S., or $25 to Canada. Any import fees to Canada to be paid by the recipient. I wish this was easier, but they have made things real messy to ship up to Canada. 5. Paypal for books under $1k - check for books over $1k 6. please pay promptly, I have a crimefighting monkey sidekick to feed 7. If there's any kind of issue with the books, let me know within one week of receiving it and we can figure out some kind of return. But I don't anticipate any issues!
  13. My newest comic The Crimebusters #5 is coming out on Kickstarter on January 30. This is the first issue I haven't drawn myself -- I've brought in a new artist by the name of Mac Radwanski to take over the art from me so I can get the comics out faster. But I still drew one of the variant covers. The Crimebusters is a continuation of the Golden Age "Crimebuster" strip from the Lev Gleason comic Boy Comics, so every issue I do a variant cover with the original logo and numbering. This time, the story features the return of Crimebuster's sidekick Squeeks the Monkey, so I did a cover featuring him. It's also an homage to Gil Kane's classic cover from Rex the Wonder Dog #11. What can I say, I love doing homage covers! I didn't have to change a lot for this one, just swapped Squeeks for Rex, turned the humans into my characters Chuck and Trixie and made them a little bigger, and did a little bit with the background and the mushroom cloud. The dinosaur is 100% Gil Kane. Here it is:
  14. I'm nervous and excited to announce that my new comic The Crimebusters #5 is coming to Kickstarter on January 30! Excited because this one is the culmination of all the subplots I've been dropping hints for through the first four issue. This is where the bigger, over-arching mystery starts coming together. Nervous because this is the first issue of The Crimebusters that I haven't drawn myself. New artist Mac Radwanski did the art, and I think he's a lot better than I am! But that means there are a lot more costs associated with this issue than with the previous issues, so I'm pretty nervous that I'm going to lose some money this time around. I also am excited, though, for the Trixie's Mysteries variant co ver by guest artist Lenm, because this is probably my favorite yet! You can check out the pre-launch page now and click on the "Notify me on launch" button to make sure you don't miss any of the limited edition variant covers. Here's a look art the regular cover by Mac, the Trixie's Mysteries variant by Lenm, and the Boy Comics variant by yours truly, which is an homage to Gil Kane's cover for Rex the Wonder Dog #11:
  15. Ever since this came up in this thread, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Sweethearts 122. Wouldn't you know it, one came up for sale right here on the boards last week when I wasn't around. Luckily for me, nobody bought it so when the boardie eventually put it up on ebay, i got a notification, and bought it immediately.
  16. We're down to the final 6 hours of the Kickstarter campaign for Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2, and boy, has this been a roller coaster! Right now we're just $261 away from unlocking the final stretch goal for bonus rewards, so I'm hoping we can hit that. And then I can rest my weary head! Here's the link one final time. Thanks for the support everyone!
  17. Thanks for thinking of me! This post actually came at a really good time for me. My current Kickstarter ends tonight (here it is if anyone is interested) and this campaign has been really challenging. In fact, the entire process of putting this issue together has been very difficult right from the start. But this thread is a really timely reminder that even when it's hard, making comics (and reading and collecting comics) is the most fun around. 🤗
  18. Well, there are just 6 days left in the Kickstarter campaign for my new comic Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2. And man, it's been a roller coaster ride. Nothing has gone as expected, and it's been much more difficult than the first issue. Everything's topsy turvy! Having said that, we did hit the funding goal a couple days ago, so thank you all for your support! Now I'm hoping we can get to the stretch goals in the next few days so people can get bonus rewards, particularly the set of five new trading cards I have planned. I like to do trading cards with every issue, but the cost of producing them has gone up quite a bit in recent months, so unless we hit the stretch goal I'm not sure I can afford it this time. We'll see! I also have on deck a new Uncle Sam print by the series artist Jay Piscopo that I'd love to be able to send to everyone. Check it out: Additionally, I'm excited that the physical proof of my last comic, the Crimebuster 80th Anniversary Special, just arrived. Everything looked good, so I'm now just waiting for the printer to send me the comics! This is a 100-page giant featuring a never before published cover by the great George Tuska, so I'm excited just to have it in my own collection! The fact that I got to have a George Tuska cover on one of my comics is kind of amazing! I do have a few extra copies of this available as add-ons if you back Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, so if anyone missed it, there's a second chance to grab it. Here's a little unboxing video I did to show the proof: And here's another look at the Tuska cover: Thanks everyone!!
  19. No spoilers: I thought it was very good. Not as good as the first one, but very good. Namor was excellent. Everything with him and his people was great. Best part of the movie for me. Looking forward to more with him.
  20. I'm really excited to share that I'm doing my first crossover with another comic! The short versions is that I've had artist Ryan Mendoza do variant covers for both issues of my series Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, which is currently live on Kickstarter. Ryan is the regular artist on a series called Miskatonic High. For those who aren't familiar with Miskatonic High, it's one of the most successful series on Kickstarter. They actually have a pretty regular distribution schedule, not monthly, but they get a lot of stuff out - their new campaign is issue #16, all of which have been done through Kickstarter. I think in the last 4+ years, so they're doing 4 issues a year or so, plus specials and stuff as well. Miskatonic High actually has a lot of similarities to my comic The Crimebusters, in that it follows a group of students (high school rather than college) who are constantly getting caught up in supernatural adventures. Just in the modern day instead of the 1950s. So I've been watching them closely since I began, as they're where I want to be. So when we realized that their issue #16 would be live at the same time as Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2, we thought it would be cool to do a cross-promotion: anyone who backs both campaigns will get a special bonus print featuring the characters from both titles together. I suggested to Ryan that we do it as an homage to the classic cover of Justice League of America #21. Here's the print: If enough people dig it there's an outside chance we might think about doing a comic to tell the story in the print. That would be super cool, to do an actually story crossover! But for now, I'm just really excited to do this print crossover. It's really fun, and cool that other creators - who, let's face it, are more successful as well - want to work with me. 🙂 Here's the link to Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam again: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thecrimebusters/cthulhu-vs-uncle-sam-2?ref=7tnm0a And here's the link to Miskatonic High #16: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1442861719/miskatonic-high-issue-16-the-hunters-get-haunted And here are Ryan's two covers for Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam:
