  1. My latest commission - a Steampunk Valkyrie by Mahmud Asrar: http://comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1121709
  2. I've received a few pieces in the last week or two. I took advantage of Khoi Pham's sale a little while ago and picked up 2 really nice splashes from the Chaos War series. Athena vs Hercules: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1034139 Athena with a sweet Chaotic background: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1034425 I set up a Tony Daniel Hela commission before the Big Wow ComicFest a little while back. I've posted it before, but I just got it in the mail this week. I wasn't attending the show, and the person who was going to pick it up for me was unable to. Tony offered to mail it out. Absolutely love this one: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1014064 I also won a page from Tony Daniel's The Tenth comic from comicconnect. It arrived a couple weeks ago. Loved that series, and I am always on the lookout for nice pages featuring the female monsters. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1032110 And finally, I was able to knock off an item from my CAF Want List for the first time (well, for a specific page, not a general item, that is). A splash of Rose Wilson/Ravager from Teen Titans by Eddy Barrows and Jimmy Palmiotti. Found this on eBay with just 40 minutes left in the auction and jumped on it. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1029993 Thanks for looking!
  3. Haven't received this one in the mail yet, but once I saw it, couldn't wait to share. Posted it to CAF about a week ago, figured I'd post it in here. My latest commission - Valkyrie & the Lady Sif in "The Contest" by Valerio Schiti. I'm a huge fan of Valerio's recent work on the Journey Into Mystery comic starring Sif. The idea for this commission came to me right after I first contacted Valerio. The first arc of his JiM run was all about Sif trying to become an even better warrior than she already was to protect Asgard. This got me to thinking that Sif and Brunnhilde the Valkyrie were supposed to be the two most dangerous female warriors in all of Asgard. The next thing to pop into my mind was the scene from the LOTR movie trilogy where Gimli the dwarf and Legolas the elf have a friendly contest to see who can make the most kills. So, I wanted Valerio to depict something along those lines, showing both Sif and Valkyrie with their most recent kills. Sif has just killed a goblin and is rather pleased with herself, until she looks back at Valkyrie, who's all smug with her recent troll killing. The pleased look turns to a bit of a peeved look, and I can just picture Sif saying "That still only counts as one!" At any rate, absolutely love how this entire commission turned out. 4. A friend will be picking this up for me from Big Wow this weekend. Tony shared it on Facebook, so I couldn't help myself and have been sharing it everywhere else.... Hela by Tony Daniel. Not sure how to post pics here, aside from ones that are already hosted on a site, so here's the link to CAF. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1014064
  5. Posted this to another forum, thought I would post it here as well. Well, I just finished uploading my 2013 Calgary Expo haul to CAF, and figured I would share here as well. This show was definitely more geared toward the entertainment side of things this year, as far as guests were concerned. Calgary and Emerald City are similar in fan attendance (or were last year, at any rate, with Calgary having a higher attendance in 2012), but this year's comic guests were somewhere around 30-40ish for Calgary and 200ish for Emerald City. There were some great guests, including Adi Granov, Doug Wheatley, Adam Hughes, Mark Brooks, David Finch, Joe Benitez, and Simon Bisley...there just wasn't a LOT of guests. I got on Brooks' list at the #5 spot, but mine wasn't chosen. As such, I had to save that money until Sunday in case he got to it. By the time I found out he wouldn't, it was too late to get on some of the other artists lists I was interested in. Finch...I never wanted to get in that lineup, perhaps I should have. This is probably the fewest pieces I've picked up at a large-ish convention in the past 6-8 years. At any rate, I picked up a few pieces that I absolutely love. Picked up a beautiful Hela from Adi Granov, an absolutely awesome Valkyrie, Chooser of the Slain from Doug Wheatley, and a Valkyrie from Joe Benitez (finally knocking him off my list after wanting a piece from him for a good long while). Also picked up Vals from Steven Sadowski and Ryan Benjamin. At any rate, here's a link to my CAF gallery with the pics (not really sure how to post them in here). http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=143481
  6. Wasn't able to attend this weekend's Emerald CIty Comicon myself, but a friend was willing to pick up a couple of pieces for me that were set up in advance. Really happy with how both of these turned out, particularly love the perspective used in the Segovia piece. Valkyrie by Aaron Lopresti: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=987121 Valkyrie by Stephen Segovia: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=988136
