  1. Great story and great thinking. Sealed bids/auctions are stressful. Do you still have any of the comics pictured?
  2. I don't think the seller is at fault, the buyer just grabbed this copy, the one he said he had in his collection, to screw me. Tell me if this is correct: You met *ballard* on eBay and worked out a private trade for the X-Men #1. You did some research on eBay and found a very similar looking restored X-Men #1 from seller X (name unknown) -- which you believe is the same book you traded for.
  3. Was this trade done through eBay? Is this the eBay ID of the original seller of the purple book? Don't want to put an ID out there if the book is now a level or 2 removed.
  4. Is there also tape on the interior cover?
  5. Yes, a very reasonable dealer who usually has keys as well as cool indie stuff. I found about 30 of the UF 2nd prints (variants and normal) at a shop for $0.10 each. All gone now; the 9.8s hurt. Can’t hold ‘em forever though.
  6. Free shipping so it's probably $0.65 a book considering he is shipping 2 long boxes of books. I don't see any killer books but at least they are not all Valiant or Malibu. Little over 2x$1 is good but nothing crazy high priced for all #1s. The buyer is paying $0.80 per comic.
  7. $400?!? I'd pay money not to have that drek in my house. When the third listed "highlight" book is Stupid #1, there's a problem. And it's not even the signed version! $0.80 per issue is insane unless there is something hidden in those pictures I cannot find.
  8. This may be a waste of my GAtor question, but any reason why this Prize Comics #64 went for so much? There's an early Briefer Frankenstein, but not the first; also not in great condition. This Guy
  9. Finally received a message from Berkbridge to buy one of my comics; I feel privileged. In the message “Nicole” blatantly offers to buy the comic outside of eBay. Where can I report this violation?
  10. Is this a potential friend-to-friend deal to get around something with a divorce or similar?
  11. Very interesting. So while I have been going back over my routine over and over last night, saying "I should have done this instead of this" to get to that listing first, it never was going to happen? How do you and/or October know it is one person, who the person is, and how much was spent so far?
  12. Well, it may go without saying, but if anyone here is the buyer, send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.
  13. Dope for selling at that price or other reasons? Are you the buyer? Seems you’re usually on top of good buys like this.
  14. I think I just missed out on a nice CL 25 on eBay by seconds. I should have let my wife put the kid to bed.
  15. I managed a comic book store when I was 20. And that was in 1991, at the peak of comic shops. The guy that owned the store was one of the least ethical people I ever encountered. I can’t imagine what someone has to be like to be successful today. I know all of the LCS in my area are pretty bad...
  16. A lot of good information in your post; I have seen your posts around but somehow never knew you were a grader. Just highlighting and bolding this section as I said the exact same thing and was told I was wrong and rang your bell to put me in my place. Seems that didn't work out.
  17. Not sure what you’re trying to say here regarding sucessful comic store owners.
  18. From what I’ve seen, magazines are graded somewhat looser than comics. Or to put it a better way, they are graded accurately but leniency is given due to the larger size of a magazine and other factors making it harder to keep in pristine condition.
  19. I saw one of those. FWIW, that 9.2 wasn’t really a 9.2. At least not what I would expect for a 9.2. Just passing along info as the price on the 9.2 compared to the 9.4 was surprising to a lot of people. How about the 9.2 that is up now?
  20. FWIW two Vampirella CGC 9.0 on eBay -- one right before the HA auction and one right after -- sold for ~$200 more than the HA 9.2.
