I would have already put up any high dollar value issue I had. Otherwise you run the fear of becoming a
"Walking Dead" book and you know the value of those books currently.  Invincible will never be an event like that
even though I think its great its only going to appeal to a certain portion of collectors. Nostalgia later is a different argument.

Chasing top dollar is both dangerous and desperate is always my advice when anyone asks. Others will disagree
with me I am sure, but that motto has kept me safely in the hobby for decades. 

Remember nobody here talks about their loses. 

Work and family took precedent for a bit but glad to peek in every so often!

I’m very hopeful that season 2 (and allegedly season 3 right away) is top notch as well.

I have far too many raws to sift through, long overdue. I recall buying like 6-7 complete runs in the 2015ish range. Maybe this will stimulate me to giddy up

Mr Terrific appearances continue to sell well in multiple books including Terrifics 1. 

Sold some WorldTR33 variants this week.

Sold couple copies of Ruins 1 this week. Never cared for the art, but some love it
Had several requests for it at my last show. 

Some nice newsstand sets sold as well as singles last month or so in high grade
including DD 119 last issue of the volume. 

War Hammer 0 and 1 still sell well found a few cheap copies awhile back 
they are still out there buried in boxes go look for them. 

 

How is Invincible selling for you lately? Any additional interest with second season dates revealed?

Third-party grading protects people that are viewing their collectibles as potential liquid investments. If you are just a reader or just a PC collector, then that’s not really relevant to you. The money piling into ALL hobbies right now gives defense to diversifying your investments and grading your stuff. I have PC AND investment stuff in both Comics and Cards. Buying graded protects me from having to trust Johnny Jagoff telling me their VF+ raw book is “CGC 9.8?” 

I believe people should buy and collect what they like, and shouldn’t complain about the natural ebbs and flows of the markets. But to be fair, I wouldn’t care about a guy like me’s opinion.

Yes the bindery corner issues are a known defect. You’ll see several 9.8 with the same characteristics

You aren’t disrespecting the seller, he didn’t certify and slab the book himself.

This may explain the sustained rise of the early Invincible issues, in particular #1. A 9.4 sold at auction on the bay for $790 the other day.

I’m not totally convinced that the time to sell is now- if people are buying those books now, they will be looking for them again once more footage or the actual show hits.

Invincible feels different in a lot of ways than the traditional “tv show” book hype cycle

Kirkman was asked what the first appearance of Invincible is recently on Twitter:

“The first appearance of Invincible is Invincible issue 1. I’ve never known a series of preview pages for a book to count as a first appearance. That’s not an original story or guest appearance, it’s just pages from issue 1”

The Tech Jacket book is a printed preview of a few pages and there’s argument over if it’s even first. MOTU #1 and Savage Dragon 102 are sometimes also claimed to be first

There’s a few reasons why they will stay cheap

First of which being that it’s a reprint not a real variant

Invincible 1 cracked $2,000 for a 9.8 copy today

They both have voices with no accent. I don’t think it’s relevant what they identify as. Probably a coincidence?

Comic book readers love this book. If the series is half way decent this book will continue to appreciate. It was doing well even before
the Amazon series announcement. 

 

I’m 100% with you. The creators of the show are the creators of the book, it’s not an adaptation done by people that weren’t involved all along.

Plus the print runs on 1-13 specifically 10/11/12 are microscopic compared to outcast, etc. and half or less than preacher
 

I’m, as always, very bullish on the success of both the series and the secondary 9.8 market.

89 relatively scarce but not sought after

60 second print good buy! That’s a tough cover in 9.8 with a low census count
