I've been out of comics for a while, probably at least three years since I've purchased a vintage book. A buddy of mine talked me into a return trip to the San Diego con this year and although I was looking forward to the trip, I really didn't plan on aquiring anything. Well, the bug came out of dormancy in a hurry and I ended up taking home a TOS 40, 41 and a prized high grade copy of my avatar book!
What a great time. It's good to be back.
Woohoo!

Yeah, this is the one. I meant to go ahead and meet the reserve on ebay but didn't set up a snipe and missed out on the bidding. Fortunately, Brent still had it available the next day.

Actually, I had a copy of this issue a couple of years back and the spine roll was so bad I got rid of it.
I was looking for a book in the f to vf range, no spine roll and good cover color so this was a great find for me.

I picked this up from Quality Comix recently. It's from the Detroit Trolley collection. I like it!

Picked up this Mile High in San Diego. It's one of my favorite covers so I was pretty thrilled to get this copy.

The only thing I know is that Mike Goldman of Motor City Comics bought the collection in portions over a period of time - maybe there's something on his website about it.......
The original owner still has a lot of comics left. According to Michael Goldman, the owner was unemployed for a while and sold off bits and pieces. Now the guy is employed and not selling anymore...for a while at least. I was talking to Michael Goldman about this topic on Saturday night.

Mike Goldman said as much to me as well. There is an unincorporated area in Southfield, MI referred to as Northland. I assume the owner lives there as Motor City comics would just be a few minutes away.

I remember reading that issue in Marvel Triple Action as well as another story with the adaptoid in Captain Marvel (also featuring the Avengers) during my 1st year reading comics. He's was a cool villain!

Great book
I've been trying to put together a pedigree run of Avengers and considered that one as well. It fell outside of the range I am trying to aquire so I held off to avoid additional run creep.

The beauty of the forum is NETWORKING.
Wow, I guess so. I need all of those
Here are a couple of others that arrived this week. I wish I knew how to properly scan/manipulate these Harvey's to do them justice. The color is remarkable.

Nice book. Where did you get it?
I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

What did Ted grade that TOS #48???
Eric
He gave it an 8.5. I wouldn't grade it quite that high but it's a nice book.

Picked this up from Superworld. As usual, I received friendly and timely service from Ted.

Picked this up in San Diego. Funny - I got so excited I forgot to attempt a negotiation and just blurted out "I'll take it!". No regrets though, that's for sure.
