  1. I used to buy one every other year and try to pay half Overstreet for my pickups. I like reading it and educating myself.
  2. I'm trying to put together a run of the 6 different printings (so far) of the Image Firsts Spawn #1. I'm speccing that the print runs are a fraction of what the regular series is selling based on Comichron preorders of the first few. The red band on the side indicates 6th printing. Still it'll take time & distance for those to become $15 books. But Spawn collectors love weird chit like that
  3. Was just looking through the results of the most recent Heritage underground comic auctions - Lots of graded and ungraded books. Crumb, Pekar, Shelton, & many more. Overall there was strong results for the Haight Ashbury books, Crumb sold well, higher grade file copies performed. Where they sold multiples of the same book, the undercopies may have had value. Buyer beware on QA/QC when it comes to some undergrounds as CGC can misidentify books. Freak Brothers in high grade underperformed IMO, likely due to the underwhelming cartoon? Finally, I missed a few opportunites to upgrade and I'm kinda bummed about that... most of my collecting funds are tied up by sneakers now Caveat emptor! Would be bummed to get this (missing classic cover tell and obv indent from overlap)... When I could have had this... A good result... It hurt me to miss this book... should have been more aware and brought this back to Wisconsin Good result and a @#$%&! steal
  4. Fyi several hundred underground comix lots are being auctioned off at Heritage including OA and Haight Ashbury pedigree copies.
  5. Spawn! Been collecting it since the beginning... now it's got a ton of titles and variants. There's 30 backissues / variants at least I'll never own ... so always a small probability of being amazed. And it's had a run up the last few years with issues 185-249 Usagi Yojimbo. In the next 3 years Sakai will hit 300+ issues across 40 years. Comichron orders often were less than 7k for the majority of the run and less than 3.6k for its trough in the 130s. Now IDW does a host of exclusives that are $30-50 out of the gate. Albedo 2 has been out of reach since 2004 and honestly I don't know how a new collector would even start such an intimidating run??
  6. @Bird I bought a set from you... Spawn Batman (Image) regular and one was a prestige format but with a barcode adjustment sticker. I still have em.
  7. Is it just me or is the Freak Brothers cartoon starting to hit a weird/good stride the last 2 or so episodes (sex robot and election)...?
  8. #35 please 35) Donated by @Bluemedgroup - US ONLY I’ll do all the books in the picture and throw in 2 random Funko Pops.
  9. Thank you very much @WernerVonDoom !! The package arrived early in the exchange and was gift wrapped... I shared a rather large list of ideas and they distilled it down to this gorgeous Sandman tome and a Star Wars comics puzzle! What a wonderful holiday surprise. A special touch including something for my 3-legged dynamo ... Merry Christmas 🎄 & Happy New Year! 😊
  10. It's a first printing missing the magenta color of the CMYK color process. A color variant if you will. Generally these fetch a premium and speak to the more hands on carefree assembly of underground comix. I've owned a full set of Zap 4 colors variants, Tales from Teenage Shangri-la 2 etc. They are 😎

  12. Excited for this book! Every page an issue, so much eye candy https://www.comicsbeat.com/hulk-grand-design-marvel-exclusive-announcement/ Marvel is returning to the Grand Design format for a new series spotlighting the jade giant himself. Hulk: Grand Design will come from Eisner Award-winning cartoonist Jim Rugg, who will retell and reinterpret the full run of the original Incredible Hulk series, from its debut in the ’60s through its ’90s conclusion. The first book of the two-part series, Hulk: Grand Design – Monster, will arrive in March, and encompass the first 300 issues of the series. The second book, subtitled Madness, lands in April, and will cover the rest of the series, including the many different personalities that Hulk developed. . . .
  13. The main difference between hoarders and collectors is curating the collection. Hoarders never get past the accumulation phase of collecting, it just builds and builds, gets neglected, and will decline in condition due to improper storage. So bag n board da hoard!
  14. Crying Girl 1964 is part of the Milwaukee Art Museum's collection. from Secret Hearts, no. 88 (June 1963)

  16. Congratulations Dylan! I know you've been working on this set for several years. This book is still on my want list .... as it is no doubt on many Freaks list too. Good work knocking it out. A 9.4 qualifies as investment grade and head shop fresh IMO haha! I'll have to check out your registry set and see the gloriousness.
  17. Yeah Milwaukee. This is a Milwaukee.book. I've never been to San Francisco! wife has not me
  18. A high grade copy has been on my want list for a long time given it's subject matter and Midwestness. I imagine this book is tough to find... I've only seen it a few times in the wild and never a copy I was happy with. Great book
