  1. Ah okay, so OP paid by one of those options to get it waived. Yeah, CL is one of the "nicer" places with their buyer fees. They just charge a flat 3% fee. Do you know what Heritage charges? Their buyer's premium is 20% of your winning bid, a high handling fee (to be fair they do pack nicely), a 3% charge to pay by credit card, and your local state tax. I really don't understand how they can get away with all that when you put it in the context you are talking about.
  2. Not sure if I am reading this right, but is there a circumstance where you can opt out of paying the buyer's premium? Thought that was non negotiable everywhere at all the auction houses.
  3. After reading that laundry list above you I am starting to see the appeal in collecting raws. Now here we are hoping our book returns safe in a timely manner is a pipe dream from a grading company. What happened?
  4. It would probably be cheaper and faster to just buy a high grade slab from eBay and be done with it, If you're even reading this thread anymore, apparently all the no's you got crushed you.
  5. Sounds like a person that can only afford a Superpro #6...in 3.0 grade...purple label...at a 50% discount. But you keep telling yourself labels don't matter renegade. I'm just kidding If it makes you happy I'm not going to do anything about the label. I wanted to see what this was about or if there were changes to labeling. CGC isn't the same company it was two years ago and I haven't been keeping up.
  6. Curious, did you just accept this and move on or plan to reholder? I wonder if the mentality for people who get errors like this consider it unique or prefer something to be in a more "official" capacity. I know it's a to each their own type of deal, but it's nice to get opinions. More specifically to my issue, I wonder how missing page quality reflects upon the actual grade to others. Like you said, it should be a part of every grade and be error checked so that it isn't missing. It seems like they didn't even bother checking page quality because it's missing on the label and cert lookup. Doesn't instill confidence in their grading system either as this may go past a clerical issue if graders glossed over this, but who knows. Sounds like missing page quality isn't the norm though and judging by the reactions so far my issue is not surprising to anyone either.
  7. How much more helpful would that really be? It's the newer label graded last year (2021). Just imagine a label with literally no page color note. In the case of this label it would typically be right under the grade.
  8. Thanks, I probably won't bother reholdering at all is my feeling right now. It is a modern title in 9.8 grade from the 90's so I might go with the assumption that it is white pages. This is the first time I ran into something like this, but just checking if I am missing something as there are policy & grading changes I am sure I wasn't aware of. Quicker to get a answer here than emailing CGC, but I will probably do that as well. Thanks again Revat. Believe it or not, the page color is missing from the certificate lookup as well. It's like CGC graders didn't even bother checking for it. There must be a grader there who's being lazy, lol. Thanks for your input, I think I agree with you about not sending it back.
  9. On the flip side of reholdering... I submitted for a reholder last year and still have not received part of the order back. They are apparently swamped all across the board, including customer service because they do not return emails in any efficient manner either. The main reason for the hold up is because one of the books got damaged so something returning a lower grade from a reholder is very possible. CGC said it got damaged in shipping or when cracking it open. Either way, CGC does not take liability and will charge you for grading service plus the extras if you want it re-cased. At this point the only free option is to have the book sent back to you raw. Like all things, experience will vary but things can happen as my experience shows.
  10. Just bought a book and it does not have page color indicated like most other slabs. There is no page color field when doing a certification lookup as well but all other information is correct to the label. Couple questions, does CGC have a reason to do this now or is this a QC thing? How bothered would you be by this as far as owning it goes? Used to be where I would just do a re-holder and move on but CGC takes a year now to do something as simple as that (speaking from personal experience). I also can't trust them like I used to when cracking open slabs (also speaking from personal experience). I have to be more selective. Thanks for any help/advice.
  11. Anyone else expected to see X-Men #1 from the 60's in like 2.0 condition but got this instead? If turnaround times were faster I would say go nuts, but currently it takes CGC 2 months & up to just open what you sent to them.
  12. It's not about wither it's perfectly centered or not, but wither it can get pinched or rubbed against the inner chamber. Just seems like it could potentially be an issue if books can shift around. I was wrong about it being something from this year only though. Here's an example from a book graded years prior that sort of illustrates what I am talking about... Go to the bottom of the book. This is not the best example because there is a very tiny sliver of space but it would at least give you an idea what I am talking about. I only noticed this because the last book I bought was pressed against the indent of the inner well & there is a very small color breaking tick mark. Could have been there during grading who knows. Going by responses I guess I have nothing to worry about.
  13. Hey, thanks for the response. I was trying to get the general feel about this. It isn't the fact that they are not perfectly centered but more so the pinching that can happen I am worried about. If the new cases are designed to have the book be completely secure I suppose it's safe. It's definitely prevalent with any books graded this year. I bought 6 all graded this year and it's always the same thing. Either touching the indent of the bottom or top. Mostly bottom, I only have one touching the top. Thanks again, a new member & you're already a big help.
  14. No disrespect to CGC but I doubt they are that nice to offer free pre-screening (which usually requires a submission of 50+ books). If you requested a pressing they are going to do it wither the books benefits or not. Sounds like it is an error imo. Keep us posted if you can, be nice to know that CGC will take care of you like that.
  15. Can the costume only count as a first appearance if it makes no mention of the character who wears it? Like Gwenpool, Spidergwen had a tiny bit of controversy about her first appearance because the costume made an appearance in a book before Edge of Spider-verse. Said appearance was explained by the writer that it's a cosplayer wearing the Spidergwen costume not the actual character.
