What would you pay for a lot of trashed common books? Someone thinks $200 sounds good:
-
I know you've had it in for me for who knows how long, I think because I criticized smutty comics, but to criticize my character over that just shows how petty you are. I was always up front about what I was selling, and I always offered a fair value for what people were getting. I educated them as well as I could along the way about bootlegs as well. Anyway, if you see anyone in a black Submariner at any car show anywhere in the nation, there's a decent chance it came from me. I like to pick up car mags and check the show coverage very carefully to see people's wrists.
Now, would you criticize someone's character for selling a slabbed bootleg TMNT #1?
If you check out that Spider-Woman cover thread, you'll notice that I was likewise criticizing that cover. That said, I also agree that selling bootlegs is unethical. So what's my ulterior motive here?
(BTW, I also think that selling a counterfeit TMNT, slabbed or otherwise, is also wrong.)

Myspace, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, seems every single app/website/ect is severely overvalued and plummets immediately after going public.
Myspace, Tumblr, and Instagram were never public companies. Twitter never fell below its IPO price, and was as high as 3X that amount. And while Facebook dipped a bit after its opening, it is now significantly more expensive than its IPO.

Why? I dunno. Perhaps it was prepared for a 3rd print of UXM # 281, decided that a 3rd print wasn't needed, and rather than let it go to waste, presented it as a bonus for UXM #282 2nd print?
Actually, if that was folded the other way it would work as a cover for 281. I imagine what happened is that it ended up being cheaper to do a single run of a new cover rather than run off 2 new covers for reprints, so they did the double-sided new cover, and simply never used the printed pieces for a third print of 281
-
I just bought a 9.8 a few weeks ago
Time to submit my copies for grading.
-
Yes, folks, it IS a second printing.
It came out the same time as X-Men #282 second print, about the same time as #284-5.
I think everyone *knows* that, because there were enough of us around at the time. I think the question is how might one prove it to those who weren't and might doubt that. Obviously every current reference says that, but I don't remember a whole lot of press at the time announcing reprints and showing the new cover logo.

I agree. Every time I post about BB 60 being the actual first appearance of Teen Titans, I'm amazed how many "amen"s I get. Awareness of this issue is out there, and even if BB 54 takes off further, that's just going to raise scrutiny about what actually happens in that issue.
So the ribbon pin worked then?
-
X-force #2 is actually breaking the $10-$15 range. So yes it is def heating up
I wouldn't be surprised if this is a $30+ book in the near future. The 1st app. is out of the price range for high grade slabbed copies for most casual collectors/fans IMO.
We have a small stack of these that we can't sell for $5 at the shows we do, and this is to people who drool over our NM #98s. May be time to move them online...
Are they in boxes with most of the books or on a wall (where the NM 98s are, I imagine)? It might be interesting to see what happens by making them "wall" books for a show. I think the suggested importance might make people want them more.
-
Is the second print not with a different colour for the XMen logo?I think yellow and pink...
281 2nd print has a red logo I think.
-
Well, you definitely won't see Robin as they're already announced that Nightwing will be the leader. They also name-dropped Cyborg, Starfire and Raven.
Peace,
Chip
Does that mean that TTT #44 will get even hotter/pricer? (and, "yes", I have one! )
I suspect it also means big things for DC Presents 26 and New Teen Titans 1 (and possibly the Teen Titans Spotlight mini-series issues with individual origins).
I can't see anyone caring about the Spotlight mini. (And yes, I have them)
-
Enormous continues to move ! A #1 2nd print $14.00…
Wait. 2nd print isn't out yet, is it?
-
Or, if you're not on a phone while reading this:

I thought RDJ was the highest paid actor last year...
Peace,
Chip
I think 'highest grossing' typically means their movies made the most money, not that they themselves personally made the most money.
in 2013 somehow GI JOE 2 made $371M worldwide, added to FF 6 $790M,
Pain and Gain $81M, and Snitch $48M =$1.29B
which is a higher number than Iron Man 3.
Iron Man 3
Worldwide: $1,215,439,994
and the amount of the $790MM that FF 6 did that can be attributed to the Rock is about 87 cents.
True, so it pays differently then right? Like when those bench players get a championship ring and a salary bonus.
You ever wonder if a Key Grip or Best Boy (whatever they are) tries to argue that they're the highest grossing one of those things?

can not figure this out...
I was pricing my 2nd print of TMNT the IDW version...
and found this:
http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5185348&fpart=2355
my first thought was ha ha...right...
But I could not find it for sale for cheap, is it really that rare that there's only like 3 copies on ebay?
I checked out that thread once.

The numbers for #2 & #3 are inaccurate and shaded low.
#4 more than doubles actuals for #2 & #3.
#5 even higher still.
#6 coming.
3 NYCC Exclusives.
TPB Vol. 1 in the works.
48 pg Field Guide well underway.
2 exclusives planned for second arc.
Alternate cover artists for second arc lining up.
All is well. Steady as she goes.
Good to hear! Will there be a signing at NYCC?

Anyone want to guess the print run of Deadpool # 34 1:52 variant?
1:52? Is that some swipe at DC?
-
So do they make more on their own or working at DC or Marvel ? Excluding McFarlane and Kirkman.
I would imagine most creators would make more money working at DC or Marvel plus payroll employees get benefits.
That probably doesn't apply to creative talent, but only to employees such as editors, production people. etc. Granted some creative talent are also doing other aspects of comic work, but it's probably not the creative work that gets them the benefits
-
Publishers love the variants for the money they generate, but it drives completist and collectors mad!
its getting harder and harder for them to channel stuff them. Eventually the music will stop on the artificial rarity variant game.
Considering the economics of comics currently, I think that that will coincide with the music stopping for a good portion of the industry
-
That's the problem.
No matter who, or what he plays, all people see is "The Rock."
In Pain & Gain he teased the possibility of breaking free from the typecast curse,
but a tease is all it was.
That's the basic problem with pretty much any suggestion for professional wrestlers in movie roles. They can play a role, but just that one role. I will say that the Rock is better than most that tried expanding as an actor though.

From eBay..
which coincidentally is also the name of this thread
Yes, but eBay sales of slabbed books show up on GPA and the sales you mention for 9.0's aren't there
How often is GPA updated?

You have gotta be absolutely ting me right? Never in my time have I seen a price jump as quickly. Few days ago it was a $50 book max. It's SIX times as pricey now.
Not even Avengers 55 jumped that quick. Hell, FF 45 is more important too. What's the last book to make this jump? MP7? IM55?
I'd rather spend $300 on a GL 76 or ASM 300.
WT EFFIN F???!!! And here I thought I did great selling mine for $75 back when the 1st hype bubble hit
So what did we learn from the Fear #19 bubble...
AAAAAAABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
I don't see how you can compare the two. Movement on one books is based on news that something is definitely happened, and the other on speculation that something might be happening that seems increasingly unlikely.

Technically, I don't think these are second prints but fit within the general discussion.
There are some Zero Hour covers that have the Zero Hour logo where the barcode usually is. They are not easy to find, in my experience.
I was able to find a few over the weekend and the Tampa Con.
Example:
These Zero Hour barcode variants come from collectors sets of all 5 issues.
They are harder to find than the regular issues, but still a good amount of them out there.
I do love the DCUNIVERSE LOGO though.
Same here. I was disappointed when they didn't adopt that as the new DC logo at the time. It was much better than the bullet.

The Dodsons have a rule? What is it?
+1

If $15 for an extremely accessible first print off eBay is too much what is the definition of a collector? I never thought a collector was defined by the ability to find a comic on a shelf at cover. This thread is over 90 pages because quite a few collectors have heard of it, no? Maybe I'm missing something.
I think the point was that many people have mentioned going into various stores where the owners aren't ordering it or haven't even heard of it. Most people aren't going to plunk down $15 for a new comic that sold for $4 if they haven't been able to read any other issues to know whether they actually want it.

I saw one go for $25 with one bid and I thought that was a fluke. Time to break out my copies I guess.
