  1. Is there an online service (e.g. similar to GPA) which stores data around comic art sales? If so, are Comic Link auction results saved?

There are a couple of auctions I'm interested in revisiting to remind myself what the final price was and the more precise date they were auctioned but clink apparently doesn't see the value in storing any of this data!

I'd call it a fail-flip personally. Dell Otto Batman pieces are a dime a dozen. But then again there could be a small few who cannot be bothered doing any research or are unknowledgeable so will just grab it.

  3. Making space for new pieces, so out with the old. UK based collector with experience shipping internationally. Prices are in GBP, if you are elsewhere in the world just shoot me a message and I'll assist with the conversion. Shipping and fees are extra but without further ado...

Well, you picked some shaky ones there for sure! Marc is a great guy what when we have interacted but he has sleep problems that make me look like Rip Van Winkle. Teddy on the other hand was my 10 year commission horror story, so good luck with that one.

For sure but I only knew after. As I didn't know anyone in the community at the time and couldn't find any details on them. They're both wonderfully pleasant enough through email, but I wouldn't rely on them as the best man to my wedding.

10 years?! Good grief! I have to ask, but how did that turn out?

  5. I made the decision last week I'm quitting commissions. I'm burnt out.

The year started by putting in a request with Marc Hempel. From what I see, an artist who isn't even doing published gigs or that many (if any) commissions these days. Was supposed to be delivered in February.

Then a month after that, thinking I was on a roll, reached out to Teddy Kristiansen. That was fun. Every 2-3 weeks he would send me an email out of the blue that he was "starting this week." I never chased him. I would just get odd excuses. The final count was 7. I wouldn't have minded waiting, but found it incredibly rude he kept behaving like that. He refunded but complained that "commissions are not a business but favours." Which was a highly odd statement to make given he took money for it.

Then of course you have the commissions that are completed... But are too embarrassing to share or even look at in your collection. I've got a few.

I do hope things work out for you. I think they will. Just tread lightly and try to do research in the future would be my advice, as it can lead to bigger headaches down the line.

  6. Total n00bie here! I'll repost the links.

So we're agreed, these are definitely not newsstand prints at least then(?).

SS #14 is the only copy I don't have the 1st print of, so can't examine properly to establish whether it's removable, but I'll post pictures later of Batman #13 - as I'm sure the die-cut is connected to the back cover or something, which would make it very obvious if removed

If the barcode box includes the words "direct sales" then it is not a newsstand edition. Also, I believe the price on newsstands was $3.99 as opposed to $4.99 on the die-cut covers.

Yes, I just compared with some other newsstand variants, that indeed didn't have "Direct Sales" near the barcode. However, prices differed between issues (e.g. Batman $3.99, Catwoman $2.99) not whether it was direct or newsstand.

  8. So sometime ago I was snooping around, looking into what covers the "Death of the Family" die-cuts had them removed. There were even a couple of forum posts here stating there was definitively no Suicide Squad copies, it was the only one not to get printed without the die-cut.

For the last month or 2 I've now seen them cropping up on eBay as "misprints" and "errors" (not newsstand?)

I'm not trying to accuse the sellers in these listings, or anything of that nature, but are these legit? Has anyone bought one yet?

They all seem to be originating from the same seller as well.

  9. Hi all,

Does anyone have a copy of Catwoman (New 52) #13 newsstand variant? There are a couple of listings on feeBay going for extortionate amounts, even described as NM with battered spines. So I'm looking for an honest grade with a fair price.

If not, can anyone point in any direction where else I might find one?

P.S. I don't post often so my apologies if this post isn't in the right thread.

    James.

  10. Hi all,

    First time posting!

I'm relatively new to reading (and collecting) comics, probably only about 3-4 years now.

Recently I started reading the New 52 Batman series (something which surprised a lot of friend and which I thought I'd never do) and I'm absolutely loving it!

So I thought this would be a good way to start looking at starting a CGC collection. Particularly with the 1:200 Capullo sketch covers, as they tend to go for quite a bit so why not go for the slabbed ones!

    * Probably a good point to mention I'm in the UK, so CGC comics tend to be a little higher and less prevalent...

So after doing some searching around I come across some listings below:

    Batman CGC 0, 4, 6, 10, 11

    Batman CGC SS 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

What would be a reasonable offer?

    All help appreciated! Thanks!

Also, please let me know if the topic is in the wrong section, etc.
