  1. Sorry you missed out on the ROTJ page -- a beauty of a page that went for a solid price. But that Blade Runner page yesterday is a nice consolation prize!
  2. That Star Wars #5 cover going for $108k was pretty impressive. Wonder if that's been in the same collection since the 70s? If so, what an ROI! And how about the Shogun Warriors #1 cover going for $66k (including the vig)?!? Didn't think it would get anywhere close to that.
  3. The 2 pages from Dazzler #4 sold for very strong prices, $2700 & $2500. Those are the highest prices yet for any Dazz pages at auction, outside the splash from #3 and a 1/2 splash from #2. didn't really keep an eye on the rest of the auction, purposely, as I'm waiting on the heritage auction.
  4. wow, great story! Love that opening page in particular.
  5. I saw that and even though I'm not that familiar with the Montana Archie art market, that seemed absurdly cheap. I saw a few other pieces go at low enough prices that I regretted not bidding
  6. I love me a good origin recap page, and here's a great one I just picked up ... from West Coast Avengers #45, a recap of the origin of Wonder Man by John Byrne/Mike Machlan! Getting a good Wondy page has been high on my collecting list for awhile, and scoring this one done by Byrne makes achieving that goal even more satisfying. Thanks, Rob!
  7. The Heritage Archie art auction (ended yesterday) had a ton of great pieces for fans of the Riverdale gang. I missed out on all 3 of the Hostess ads in the auction, but picked up a nice 'Archie at Riverdale High' cover from 1981 -- one that I remember buying off the stands, in fact -- for a pretty good price. I'm not sure it was the best thing to do a single auction on just Archie art, but I also don't follow the market too closely. Anyone else win anything at the auction?
  8. Hi folks, Reduced some prices on some pieces I'm looking to sell. LINK to my CAF gallery is here: They are: ADDED: BATMAN #335 by Irv Novick - Finale page to "The Lazarus Affair" featuring Talia al Ghul and Bruce Wayne - $900 Aquaman #461 page by Don Newton - great final panel page featuring Aquaman and Aqualad - $700 To Riverdale and Back Again - Great page 1 Archie splash featuring the whole Riverdale gang - $500 Tales of the Marvels: the Wonder Years - Wonder Man painted splash by Igor Kordey - $1000 Paper Girls #18, page 1 by Cliff Chiang - $700 Also, I have a killer Scooby Doo/Dynomutt & Captain Caveman publicity cel listed too - $400 Thanks for checking it out. Mike
  9. FS: Showcase #30 CGC 6.0 (cream to off-white pages). This is a key SA DC book, as it details the origin of Aquaman. Purchased from Heritage Auctions. Most recent sale I saw on eBay was $799 so I think this is a fair price. Price: $725 Shipping is $15 in the U.S. Details: - Payment by Zelle, PayPal (add 3% for G&S), Venmo, check or money order. Book will ship after check clears - No returns on CGC books. - Please, no probies or HOSers. - Happy to receive PMs, but a good old-fashioned Claim in the threads takes priority. - Happy to share references (I've purchased books from other Boards, and have several friends on the OA boards who can vouch for me). - can share phone # via DM to answer any questions. I'll be listing a few other books in the upcoming days as I try to free up some cash to chase some art in the next Heritage auction. Thanks, Mike
  10. There is a nice variety of OA in this auction -- lots of huge pieces for the big time collectors, and lots of quality Bronze/Modern Age art for us regular humans. I'm following a couple pieces I'm really interested in that I'm almost certain to get outbid on
  11. Definitely go to Heritage or CLink. That cover should do nicely on either site. Bigger pool of potential buyers on Heritage, so definitely inquire about a lower seller's fee
  12. There are only 3-4 pages from the 1981 one-shot on CAF - along with the cover. im looking for a interior page or two, but they are hard to find. Who's got 'em? Mike
  13. I picked up a nice Spidey newspaper strip Sunday from Floro Dery at a decent price. Wish I had remembered about the Byrne Wolverine page. That seemed to go for very cheap
  14. Scarcity certainly is playing a big part in the results of the last two Aparo Aquaman cover auctions. Only 3 have come up for air on Heritage since 2014 (I think Clink had one a few years back), so if you want one of these, you'd best not hesitate to click the 'Bid' button. FYI, I was the seller on the Aquaman (Adventure Comics) #451 cover. I got it in a trade with Burkey in 2018 and have enjoyed having it in my collection for awhile. I was quite happy with the final result as it represented a nice ROI for me, but will miss having an Aparo Aquaman example in my collection. Mike
  15. Lost out on a couple of lots today - including the Power Pack page with Spidey and the Spidey Super Stories page, which went for way more than I expected. did land that Paul Neary Spidey/Goblin Marvel UK cover, so happy about that. didn't see many bargains to be had today - at least not in the areas that interest me. Still kicking myself for not bidding stronger on the Jon B Power Pack cover from Day 1. An 80s-era Marvel cover with black costume Spidey and Hobgoblin for less than $10k is a damn good deal.
  16. Great UXM page. The buyer should be thrilled to get it at what is a relative bargain for Vintage Lee-Williams X art
  17. Some spirited bidding on the Watchmen and TOS #39 pages. prices seem solid for the blue-chip stuff
  18. Anyone have their sights set on any items in Day 1 of the auction? I'm just observing today; tracking a couple smaller pieces that go up on Sunday. particularly interested to see where that Kamandi Kirby splash ends up ...
  19. This is incredible. congrats on an incredible collecting feat. Good luck on acquiring an AF #15 at some point.
  20. Hi folks, The latest ComicConnect auction ends tonight (7pm ET) and I have a couple of cool pages available, including: Giant Size Avengers #3 page by Dave Cockrum & Joe Giella - excellent battle page featuring Wonder Man, the Vision, Thor & Kang! Dazzler #5 page by Frank Springer/Ricardo Villamonte - great early Dazz page featuring the title character in several panels, as well as Dr. Doom, the Enchantress, and Nightmare! Marvel Team-Up #109 page by Herb Trimpe/Mike Esposito - nice little page with a great image of Dazzler on stage! Thanks for taking a look! Mike
  21. As a first-time seller, I enjoyed the event. Sold 3 pieces which were not expensive (highest priced one was $800), which was nice. I saw one Dazzler page I really liked, but was a tad more than I cared to spend. Didn't think it was overpriced, just was being a bit gun shy. Regarding retreads, I saw lots of familiar art at even higher prices than the last CAF Live! I don't understand that strategy at all for an event where a large part of the potential customer base is probably as well informed about prices and availability as anywhere in the hobby. I saw one particular page featuring Spider-Man that I like but it's been priced absurdly over market for the last 3 CAF Lives. It was back this time around, at nearly 3x the last aspirational price! Anyway, overall I liked the event. I'll probably set up shop again at the next one and will look to again post new pages that haven't been in circulation for awhile. I think that 'freshness' helps in this arena. Mike
  22. you absolutely should try it, especially since you certainly have a much larger and more diverse collection than I do. I imagine you'd find success, unless you get too "aspirational" in your pricing
