To be 100% honest I own a business and this would be processed through our accountant at the end of the year, so the tax aspect of the trade is really irrelevant to me. I sincerely thank you for your suggestions & input. However, I was really looking for some guidance in regard to the actual aspect of the trade as both books are very HOT right now but as noted a 2.5 FF #1 while not cheap (15/16k?) is not uncommon but the offer also includes 21k which would mean I am selling a 9.0 signature for apx 36k which seems very fair to me? So while I don't want to really part with the TMNT book it's a very legit offer based on what I have seen of recent sales? The cash while not needed would be a help to update my kitchen which is from when the home was built in 1997. I just have this feeling I am going to regret selling the book and that's why I came here among fellow collectors who I would bet have been in the same spot more then a few times.

So I ask for advise about a trade and your response is pay your taxes? If I do the trade of course I will pay my taxes. But with all due respect thanks for nothing....( have to love the internet

I posted the pics of my 9.0 TMNT Signature book on my Facebook & here last week having no intention of selling it, however a local dealer/friend saw the post & asked if I would consider selling the book as he loved the gold signature and wanted to know if I was open to any offers? My response was "make me an offer I can't refuse" and he might have..... The offer is 21k CASH & a stunning 2.5 CGC blue FF #1. I asked my wife and her response is as expected......sell the book & do the promised remodel on the kitchen! IMHO it's a stand up offer with a lot of upside for both parties ( both books have bullets on them) Do I need the money? Not really but 21k is 21k & FF 1 is FF 1 & owning either book is pretty cool, so I am asking what do my fellow board members think the financial side of this deal is over say the next few years? Like so many deals in the past I don't want to be saying I should have........either way. Any input, advise or opinions would be a big help as I have a 48 hr window and the offer is off the table.

Finally home! Stoked to be putting this back into my collection my stress level is back to normal & all is well in the world. ( except for the other 40 books now waiting to be graded lol). Seriously about a year ago I traded a lot ( at the time maybe a little to much) to add this book to my secret stash. However, the trade was based on the grade being a 8.5 so I am very happy with the grade & the signature.

From a historic point a view ebay should remember that no matter how big you THINK you are at some point someone is going to come up and kick your , Sears never saw K-mart coming and K-mart never saw Walmart coming until it was to late, GM/FORD never thought that a small car company from Japan could build a better car and today Honda and Toyota dominate the world market, Like many before them what ebay has failed to understand and continues to seem oblivious to is the fact that most sellers stay there because there is no other real option, but they do not recognize that a large percentage of those sellers despises there platform & there company which is ironic because without the sellers the buyers have nothing to buy, There stock may be high right now but its all short term thinking. Go do a price search many items are no longer there as in years past, the customer service is awful ( is it to much to ask to be able to understand the rep calling me back with a problem I am having?) Reality is MP sucks I did the work I want my money, NUFF SAID its almost like a step BACK TO 1998 Paypal was the best ( I built my business on the PP loans). Now I find myself constantly moving money around to get things done. The day will come when we are talking about some new platform and I can't wait to tell ebay to take a hike..........." its inevitable"

It's really simple when you get past all the BS posted on here Wolverine has been and continues to be a fan favorite, I grew up watching his popularity grow from Claremont/Byrne cult status ( unless you read comics in 1982 you had no idea who the hell he was) to Millers masterpiece to BWS amazing origin and so on right up to him become the main character in just about all the X men movies for the past 20 years! He is a very lucrative property & world wide phenomenon & on par with all but a handful of comic characters. If you don't dig his "freaky claws" & bad attitude " just walk away" no big deal, it's ok if continue to think there are to many #181 for the market to continue to grow whatever turns you on. But the fact is the little short guy with the bad temper is going to be around a lot longer then most of us & I would bet my hard earned cash on a guy named Logan any day. On a serious side note the day #181 drops 50% is the day almost all comic books collectors/investors have a real problem.

I think its fair to say pre Covid prices were pretty darn good, so any correction really is just a bonus at this point.

I think reading these posts the sell to buy other books tales seem fine ( I think we all do it) its the ones where you know you will never be able to get that KEY book back into your collections that are tuff to swallow, I mean if you traded/sold your GSX #1 or Hulk 181 in the last 15 months thinking "no big deal I will grab one again" those are the killers. There are a few books at this point I just will not be able to own unless I hit a score & one walks into the store. I just bought a MOKF # 15 from a fellow board member in 9.0 ( paid full retail+ ,for this week anyway lol) & just a few months ago I was going to buy a 9.6 but that ship left the harbor. I am finding myself keeping more modern keys ( sadly that I don't read, Miles who? Spiderman is a kid named Peter) as I am hoping I can trade/sell them down the line for books I want.

With the current comic market at an all time high ( due to several factors) and some books seeing gains of well over 100% WHAT BOOK(S) DO YOU WISH YOU HAD HELD ONTO JUST A................................. LITTLE BIT LONGER? I sold a .5 X Men #1 last year for $900 buck and thought I did really well, watched the buyer sell it a few weeks ago for over 4k

My wife has had the privilege ( I am kidding) of being a stay at home mom to our 3 kids ( all grown) she at best has worked a few minor jobs in the last 30 yrs. We have a very simple deal.......... as long as the house, 2 decent vehicles ( one being a R/T Challenger shaker 6.4 which any man will tell you is a family car and some house/vacation savings are all a priority......... meaning as long as I make sure to take care of all the important s#it first & she does not have to worry about it she has no problem with my comic purchases, just recently I showed her what some of the "big boys" are worth and she never said "sell them" as she knows how much they mean to me. Unfortunately, the kids could care less about comics or collecting in general so at some point they will be moving on as I see no point in not enjoying some of the funds later in life.

Its clear you don't need charts, data, math or anything else to know in general newsstands are harder to find and even harder to find in high grade & anyone who has been collecting comics for any period of time knows this to be a fact,. I grew up buying my books at either my local comic shop or at 7/11 and anyone who has had any experience buying from a 7/11 rack know just how bent, beat and damaged those books were in the 1970/80s finding a 9.8 today from one of those racks is like finding gold. That's if you can get my Laffie Taffi finger prints off the book.

The price is fair and for the grade assigned the book looks good! Congrats on having some big balls bro, putting this up on the boards is very cool! In todays market god only knows where it might land at Heritage, (I suspect for more, however with there cut I don't know what you would end up with?). I hope it lands with a member as I know it's a grail for many of us.
