  1. Some of these prices are indeed eye opening. However one thing that i am curious about. In the past when sellers have come on asking where is the best place to sell their  original artwork the general consensus has been to send it to Heritage. I am now wondering if Comiclink has become the better avenue for selling original artwork or would these same pieces of artwork that sold on Comiclink for incredible prices sold for even higher prices at Heritage.

It sold I believe about twenty years ago. Seemed like a lot then but peanuts compared to what it would fetch today. Seems like it was Joe from PIH that was selling it but I’ve bumped my head a lot in the last twenty years.

    Ask was $20K ?

I think you might be right. I also remember when the cover for the first issue sold years ago for $40K. A lot of people scoffed at the asking price thinking the buyer had paid too much. I dont think the buyer will be having any regrets today.

When I picked up the Silver Surfer #10 splash I also inquired about Silver Surfer #10. It wasn't for sale then but I asked if he did decided to sell it to let me know/ Six months later at Wonder Won he decided to sell it and we made a deal.

Of the 16 issues from the series, I think these are the one two not to feature the Silver Surfer. While I would love to own a slash with the Silver Surfer from the series. I am satisfied woth these.

Nice splash but i do think there are more than 2 splashes that dont have the Surfer on them.

    I’d pay north if that.
book 4&5 were sold complete and I believe both are in tact. Not sure about the other 16 issues.
issue 1 is probably the best splash , but I’ve never seen it offered or posted

There was i thinking Ted might be a bit high on his valuation and then you come along saying you would pay more. Are Surfer splash pages really that expensive?

    Which one?

One of the 9.2's came from Comic Link and the rest of the slabs all came from eBay.

Yeah sorry my bad. I was thinking of the 7.5 copy. Is the serial number 1096231007? Its o.k there's nothing to worry about.

I hope you are able to get the page. Good luck. I have to wonder how much you want it - with all these posts and time that has elapsed it seems like you are taking more risk by the hour to land it. How would you feel if you reached out tomorrow and the page is no longer available? If that idea puts a pit in your stomach - reach out now and give it your best shot. If the idea of it not being available any longer doesn't impact you ... maybe the wiser decision is to pass and wait for something better. Again, good luck!

Its difficult to answer you exactly without giving things away so lets just say i have time.

    It depends on the motivation.
And why was our OP picked out “been offered” the page? My guess is the OP  either inquired about the page or maybe put it out there he was looking.

    So motivation.

If the potential seller really made the first move, then I agree starting smaller won’t hurt.

If in fact the OP has failed to mention that he in fact was in the market for this page, or a page from this story arc, then the advantage swings to the seller. A weak offer may kill the deal.

I must repeat that this story arc is well sought after by knowledgeable collectors. The number of available Kirby pages is irrelevant unless the OP would take any action page featuring Thor from any Kirby issue or just wants a Kirby action page from any comic.

So what’s your motivation Justin Case?

    Is this a grail page?

Did you put it out (mark yourself) that you were looking for something like this?

Did the seller really contact you first?

Either way I hope you get it. It’s made for a fun (mysterious) discussion.

I'll explain everything(nearly) seeing as you asked. Thor was the first character i collected as a kid and when i started to collect back issues the first issue i bought was Thor #126. I also began to notice that the artwork from this Jack Kirby guy   was more unique than the other artists and so he became my favourite artist. When i realised eventually that you could buy original artwork for comics i started to seek a page from this issue out. Not many were showing up and the one's that did were either not for sale or were out of my price range.

Then a friend that i spoke to told me he knew someone who had a page from issue #126 and so i contacted him(lets call him Mike) and asked if he was interested in selling but he was not. This was several years ago and i tend to contact him once or twice a year to ask if he was interested in selling and he kept saying no but to keep asking. This time round he contacted me and asked me to make him an offer so after reading what everyone has written on this thread i think im ready to make my offer.

  8. Thank you for going to the effort of putting those pages up and explaining what to look for. yes the pic on the left is a better page than the one on the right for sure. However when you say the one on the right is nowhere near $25K(and i agree) is there really that much of a difference in price.

Having just taken a swing through the book to see what you're talking about, the action is pretty great, the inks are pretty awful (I am not an automatic Vinnie basher -  I have a couple of 5-star Thor pages he inked), and it's a classic issue but holy cats there shouldn't be a premium on the art just because the logo changed. The question I have is whether this is one of those pages where Jack chose, for whatever reason to not show Thor's face. I've noticed in Thor battle pages, in particular, Jack often kept us from seeing his expressioon. No idea what was up with that (genius is hard sometimes) but he did it in this issue a few times. That would impact my valuation.

Well there are some panels where you dont see Thor's face because he is standing with his back to the reader or Hercules has his weapon raised from a side on position if thats what you mean.

Does the seller want to sell it, or is it a keeper page for him but he's inviting you to blow him away with an offer to pry it loose? If it's the former (and he's not taking multiple offers, best offer wins), then ask for a price. Otherwise, you're kinda just spinning your wheels.

Probably closer to the latter. A page where if i make him a good fair offer he will sell but if not he doesn't mind keeping hold of it.

  11. I have been offered a Kirby battle page from Thor #126 but i really don't have too much of an idea as to what is a fair price. I have looked in the Heritage archives but that really has not been that much of a help. They have 1 large splash page and 1 non battle page but this is a page where the 5/6 panels have Thor and Hercules fighting one another. That's about all the info i can give so as to not let the source of the Original Art know i am making enquires.

  12. That should be 'restored quality grades.' Dupcak is the worst thing that has happened in this industry by far. not everybody got full refunds. I know collectors who sold many high grade books from their collections in order to buy better books from Dupcak who then had to return them to him because of the undisclosed restoration so ended up with neither. This deceitful, dishonest, cunning crook will try every trick in the book to get you to part with your money because thats what this low life scumbag has been doing most of his life. His ex-wife once came on a thread and said Dupcak has not done an honest days work in his life and i totally believe her. It was a bit sad to see in this thread that the real Richard Koo's has actually passed away, i wonder if he knew what dupcak was up to? I dont think i have ever said this about anyone before but had Dupcak passed away instead i would have said GOOD RIDDANCE.

  13. Well seeing as some people are still asking about dupcaks past and im feeling a bit bored i thought i would post this oldie:-

It doesnt take long to work out who comic-keys/dupcak is even though he pathetically continues to deny it.
