  1. Since I press books, I have customers who will buy books on eBay and have them to me from the seller in order to not have to double ship the book. In general I don’t mind shipping to other addresses as a seller. Larger ticket items, I’d probably insist on shipping it directly to buyer for them to forward.
  2. Add talisman778 to your blocked ebayer lists. Buyer was not happy that the 9.4 book he ordered was not perfect! The customer was unhappy that a ‘pleat’ was not added to the listing’s description and was visible in the scan of the book.
  3. I have a couple of new users to add to your list. queenb9795 did not pay for auction after a week and multiple requests major_9512 same as above but for a batch of 44 winning auctions
  4. Isn’t that the older discontinued case? Discontinued because of that exact possibility.
  5. Has this been mentioned? I have a case that simply separated, top from bottom. I know CGC will screw me over this mistake of theirs and say I have to pay for a recase, but come on!! This isn’t something you should look for when you receive your books.
  6. You mostly have it correct. It originally had the incorrect listing, but a 9.8. So then I sent it back to get the proper listing and upgraded label. That's when it went to spoon, and Mike offered to help as the Customer Service team couldn't seem to help. And yes I am happy about the final turnout, as I now have the 9.8 it was originally, just not the correct label. I have had too many 9.8 books get ruined by a simple 'reholder'. It's like to get a book reslabbed, is a 50/50 chance of major damage. And this book came back 9.8.
  7. Follow up: First, Thank you @CGC Mike for your help. The book returned with a 9.8 grade. It doesn't have the fancy X-Men label that I originally requested, but I am going to leave it as it lays. No explanations as to what, when, or why it happened. It's like a little gremlin came long and kicked it out the door with a 9.8 label. A happy ending
  8. hmm...Mine clean up real quick! As it goes recently, I'd rather try and fix them myself than send them back in unless no other choice. I have had too many books ruined my carless hands in the re-casing dept.
  9. Those are easily fixable with a bit of Polywatch and some elbow grease. From what I have discovered, the bags actually cause this. It's weird the plastic on the cases are that soft to be scratched so easily.
  10. That is exactly what I was mentioning several pages ago. Perfectly good books ruined after they leave the graders hands. I had a signed Campbell Black Cat #2 'Le Chat' come back with a color-breaking crease, a 9.9 DC cardstock cover with a 3/4" crease, etc.... Someone in the casing Dept is very careless
  11. Previously, I had was asked to provide photos of the faults before getting clearance to send them in. I had 70 plus emails of Reholder Requests, before I was told I no longer needed to get clearance to send them back. So, to answer your question, no they were no approved beforehand. But previously, when I had sent in photos of the newton rings, I was happily told those look horrible and to send them back for a free recasing. Anything over a quarter in size was enough to get 'fixed'
  12. I agree. It seems this is across the board. I replied, "I did see the memo, but these were submitted well before the memo came out. As I understand it, anything sent in after that would no longer qualify, correct?.." Their response: 'Thanks for reaching back out. We do understand that it may seem this way; however, Newton Rings previously were not automatically approved Mechanical Error submissions and it was determined on a case by case basis. At this time we cannot accept these as a Mechanical Error submissions. We can offer you a credit of $25 to your account if you would like to proceed with Reholdering the books. As mentioned previously Newton Rings are a naturally occurring phenomenon and reholdering the books will not guarantee that they will eliminate the Newton Rings. These can occur at any time and may even develop over time on holders due to the crystal clear nature of the plastics. Thank you.'
  13. Just so you know, any books currently in their pipeline for newton rings WILL NOT get a new case unless you wish to pay for it. Even for books in their facility before the announcement. I was just contacted via email about 16 books out of 76. This is something that really irks me, as they were sent out well before the announcement.
  14. If the thread is still going, I'll take the Gotham Girls and the JLA 118, please.
  15. So I was able so snag this book back in December. It obviously has the wrong label on it. Certification shows it, at the time, to be a 9.8, and with CGC willing to repair their label mistakes, I sent it in to be fixed. What came back did not have the X-Men label as it did previously, and the grade dropped to a 9.6!!! That would be the first time they ever re-graded a book for a mucked up label. I know, as I have been using the ME option consistently for the last 2 years. And I have received back 9.8s in a lower grade than when I sent them in (ie manhandled), but they were never graded as such. When I called CGC about this, they said they would hunt it down and find out what happened, and for me to send it back. 3 months later, it came back with the X-Men label, and still a 9.6. No explanation as to why the grade dropped. It's like they forgot or hoped I'd forget, and just got it relabeled and sent back with no fix. Checking the cert number shows it was graded Jan 4th, 2023. I sent the book in on Jan 10th, so their date is wrong. I can track GPA sales of this 9.8 back to August of last year. So it has been a 9.8 before until this muck up
  16. I just discovered those marks are from the bags they ship them in. I pulled a book out recently and they matched up exactly with the folds of the bag. They are horribly unsightly.
  17. Can you please set aside three books if they are still available? Thanks Doctor Aphra #19 page 1 Spider-Woman #1 Campbell Virgin Variant page 6 Batman Gotham Adventures #50 page 9 DC vs Vampire #10 page 10 Revival #6 page 10
  18. So I have been holding back about posting this problem. I have been sending books back due to regular stuff for a while, newton rings, scratches, debris etc... But recently, starting back in Dec/Jan, I have been getting Mechanical Error books back with damaged spines. In my eyes, they would no longer be a 9.8. I do sell some of these, and I don't feel I can sell a books one or more color-breaking spine stress as a 9.8. I have contacted Customer Service and they have been very helpful. They have requested me to send the back for a free press and recess...One set I sent back returned in the same condition and Customer Service said oops, it didn't get pressed according to their records. Recently I received two books that were 9.9s, but these didn't;t have mechanical errors, they had big spine bends. One is a foil cover, so that can be smoothed out some, but the other is of cardstock and that one is about 3/4' in length. There is no way that can ever be a 9.9 again, let alone a 9.8. I have at least 10 books that are being ruined by someone at CGC, either a grader who is mishandling them afterwards, or more likely, a person in the casing department that has not been trained to handle books by their spines. Again Customer SErvice has been very helpful, but it seems they are doing their best to keep it from escalating and keep directing me to return for press/casing. It may not seem like much, but when they were sent in they were close to perfect, 9.8s no stress etc. But some when they arrived to me, would not pass a grader as a 9.8. The photos are just some of the ones I have received. The first one was where the whole situation started back in June of last year. With the slowdown, it took a while to get it back. It too get sent back for a 'press' and recase and was never pressed. The last two photos are 9.9s. Many of the flaws really show on the dark colored spines. Some were horribly difficult to get in without the 'added stress' they now have!! I thought I would elevate this to the public forum as nobody seems to be taking me seriously when I keep telling them, someone in casing is costing them money. It's getting to the point where I am questioning if I should send the books back for mechanical errors anymore, and that I am being punched for doing so to begin with.
  19. It'd be nice if they would respond to emails. Is there anyone else going to C2E2 that is dependable? Rich Henn isn't going, and he's my goto for most everything not within reach.
