  1. The Irish version involves a Hurley at arms length
  2. Black is running too light, either the ink fountain is running low on black or the press operator needs to adjust the ink keys to put more black on the paper. How does black factor in to the missing exclamation point?
  3. No, but I tend to like my birds mellow Steve. Type B women if you catch my drift. I can't deal with the high energy type.
  4. Women may have problems with the whole 3 ft distance thing though.
  5. Even if it is a 1.0 (I think it's likely a bit higher), it's worth approximately $300 according to GPA. I don't think you're correct in saying it's "not worth grading on its own", unless he paid very close to that to begin with. It could be a good candidate to sell raw, but I think you're just as likely to be steering the OP (who is new to this) wrong by saying it's not worth it. Just my
  6. I agree with you more often than not, but in the case of your first sentence, you'd have to add a 0
  7. The back looks like moisture stains, and the marks on the front appear to be foxing. Dry cleaning would not entirely remove either of these, but may improve them some. Either way, CGC hammers stains from what I've heard. However, there are others here with much more knowledge about dry cleaning than myself. They may be able to give you a better answer. Try @joeypost
  8. Yeah, if you added more restoration and kept the same grade, but not sure why anyone would do that. The goal of having the book further restored would be to increase the grade, and therefore the value. What OP needs to find out is whether or not the cost of having more restoration done is less than the value added by a higher grade.
  9. Again, not comic related, but since I already hijacked the thread with some Grateful Dead content, I'd like to show this off too. I had noticed a bunch of really nicely done street art in Cork City (murals on electrical boxes, article here: https://madaboutcork.com/gallery/street-art-electrical-boxes/) so I deciphered a signature off one of them and contacted the artist, Vincent Zara, and asked if he would do a portrait of Jerry Garcia for me. He said he would, then I didn't hear from him for 7 months so I kind of wrote it off. Then I got an email saying it was done, even though we never even discussed any particulars (including the price) I'm new to this but I get the feeling artists can be a bit flakey? Thankfully it actually exceeded my expectations and the cost was very reasonable. The image doesn't really do it justice, it's much nicer in person. It's of the type that looks better from a distance than it does up close.
  10. The subject matter is not comic related, but the artist is, so I hope nobody minds. This is a piece by Timothy Truman of Grimjack, Scout, Jonah Hex, and Grateful Dead Comix fame. It's called "Steal Your Bison", a play on the famous Steal Your Face Grateful Dead logo. I acquired it from our very own @Bird and am extremely grateful (no pun intended). Thanks Bird!
  11. So, this week I was lucky enough to obtain the original art from the world famous "Captain Birdshít" by our very own @Get Marwood & I He was kind enough to post it to me in Ireland as a surprise free of charge. You're a good man and a good artist with a great sense of humor Steve, and thank you again!
  12. Here's another one. I found it in this old CGC announcement: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/4030/ Looks like an early version of the now blue/grey format that they've since done away with. Perhaps due to the stigma of purple? That's just me guessing though. @Brittany M. Can you shed any light?
  13. All conserved labels are blue. They have a grey strip across the top that says conserved.
  14. Am I hearing things, or did she refer to 2 people named "right cheek" and "left cheek" about 5 seconds in?
