Yeah, I thought that's what the OP was requesting. We're on the same page regarding the book being resubmitted without the original cert, that would be a Sisyphean task indeed.

Will they do it? No. But I wouldn't agree there's "no possible way they could" if they really wanted to. I could be wrong, but I'm assuming when a book is reholdered they would input the cert number somewhere? I'm sure the number could be flagged on their system if they wanted. Again, I'm not saying it would be practical for them to do this with all the requests they would receive, only that it's probably not impossible like you claim.

A lot. Anyone remember weighing a nickel on one of these to see if it was accurate?

We have very similar tastes! I will say that the Fanta Duck books (both Barks and Rosa) are one of the few series that I've managed to keep up with, as I always ask for that year's gift sets for xmas from my mother-in-law. So every year at the end of the year I get caught up on my Ducks, and I try to space their reading out over the year. I usually save them for the fall and beginning of winter, when it gets dark out and seasonal blues start to kick in. They are remarkable comfort reading. I will pony up for the Moore Swampy Absolute as well, for sure. I just finished re-reading my BA Swamp Thing Omni, and am ready to continue the story. I haven't read the Moore run since my 20's, in trade form. As for floppies, I don't really buy new ones much, so not an issue for me. I have been keeping by Batman run going for a long time, and usually just file them and read the collections when they come out. But I'm tempted to just go ahead and drop the monthly book, as they just take up space and aren't read anyway. Otherwise, my relationship with floppies is that I will likely buy the first issue or two to sample, and if I like it, I'll then wait for the collection. The Fantagraphics Barks books are amazing! They're bound well and I love how they open nearly flat regardless of what page you're on. Makes it easy to read the panels on the inside margins. I'm not fully caught up but buy them in spurts. This is my measly collection, about 3/4 of a shelf so far but hope to pad it out more.

That's not how it works. And where would they get a 9.8 book from? They don't own a repository of books to offer out if an error occurs.

You bought it as a 9.8, so I'm assuming you paid a 9.8 price. The "remedy" would be for them to re-grade it, and it would come back much lower. Then you'd have paid a 9.8 price for an 8.0 (or whatever it is). You need to return the book to the seller.
