Almost every villain. Seriously has there ever been a villain (b list or below) that has held value after its big movie/tv moment? Even the big A list villains tend to go down after the dust settles from the initial movie/TV debut, at least for a little while. For everything else its almost always a downward spiral for eternity. I do not understand why people "invest" in these type of books when they reach outrageously high prices.

Being about 30 minutes late was a major bummer, not to mention I actually wanted this book for my own collection oh well. On another note, You would think the seller would spend 1 minute looking up what this book is worth before listing it. Especially since its a major key.

Based on pure villainy I would have to go with Darkseid. But I might be a bit biased...

That is what I was thinking too. The only thing is, the book is already susceptible too that based on the current design. Most SCS examples happens in 3 main places 1. The corners 2.The top,bottom and side edge of the book creating overhang 3.The staples While we are on the subject, why do the inner wells have that small raised area above the corners? Anybody know the reason for them?

Not sure if this has ever been discussed but does anyone know why CGC inner wells do not have completely free corners? I am not talking about those inner wells made for modern thin books the other ones they use on thicker/older books. Here is a picture which will make it clear, a PSA holder corner. We have all seen books with either top or bottom corners slightly folded over due to how the corner can touch the edge in the inner well. Curious if anyone knows why CGC has not designed an inner well with untouchable corners?

When I receive the book i will post high quality pics and also have an idea of whats going on.

If it was a water stain how much would a stain of this size effect grade?

Recently bought a book online and noticed some white spots on the top edge Will not get the comic for a few days but do you guys think this is glue? Judging by the condition of the book it does not seem like someone would put glue here. Let me know what you think.

I like many others used to live by the OPG. Unfortunately in today's market its borderline useless for anything hot because prices move week to week.

In todays market, from my experience, without going extreme like tan to off white or worse, page quality does not seem to be a big deal. Sure you have those who will wait and opt out of buying a book with worse PQ but today Cream to off white for hot keys seem to sell just as well for the same money as a white page copy. Unless the book looks creamy, dark edged or tanned from the front or back cover and has less eye appeal itself then you should not have a problem selling it for similar prices as a WP or OW to W copy. Especially for a big key key like ToS 39. I personally would not risk it.

I called CGC once to ask about reholdering and they told me that the micro-chamber paper is switched out when the book gets a reholder. So the inner well gets replaced as well.

That would make even less sense for a page quality bump since they cant even see the inner pages.

This raises the question, when CGC gets a book in for reholdering does the book get checked at all or is just the slab checked to make sure it was not tampered with? followed by re encapsulation without any kind of look threw the book.

Why would someone take a risk resubmitting a 9.8 key like SS #1 though? Unless CGC know that back in the day the lighting was bad and when they get old gen 1 holders they re check the PQ?

So when a book is sent for a reholder cgc can change PQ but will they also change grades sometimes?

Someone made a youtube video where they were cracking out cgc slabs in the old label (gen 1) with Cream to off white pages that looked nicer then books cracked out of (gen 2) holders with off white to white.

Interesting, I have heard that old labels sometimes come back with better PQ after reholder because back in the day CGC didn't have the best lights for grading. Even in the high grade range like 9.2-9.8 it still seems almost impossible to find with WPs. I have never come across a book, in the same era with so few WP copies. Maybe I just don't have a big enough sample size but after looking threw Heritage, eBay, Comic Connect,Clink and MCS it seems rare in any grade TBH.

Trying to upgrade my Silver Surfer #1 CGC 7.5 and can't seem to find one with white pages. Searched on heritage sold archives, looked at books from 8.0-9.2 and while they exist its damn near impossible to find a copy with white pages. Is there something about the book that makes it hard to find with WPs? I guess I got lucky when I bought my 7.5 copy
