  1. You got me thinking, how harsh is cgc on foxing over staining that looks similar to foxing? I'm assuming stains are hammered more then light foxing right?
  2. Really? I have seen 6.5s even 7.0 books with worse staining.
  3. Hope these pictures are enough to get an idea of what grade this book would be. The line on the bottom of the back cover is just a foxing stain, it is completely flat. Also the top of the book has a crease that goes threw the entire book. The crease does not tear the front, interior or back. I was wondering if this could be pressed out? Thanks for taking a look
  4. Taking a look at eBay sold listings reviles a total of 85,000 ish CGC sales and 1,700 ish sales for PGX in the same time frame. So plenty of people outside of the CGC Forum are buying CGC over PGX, at least on eBay.
  5. Crazy that both Steve and Stan passed in the same year.
  6. Was browsing sold listings when I came across this... Here is the link. https://ebay.to/2Cr1w8L The seller says that it might be a mistake.
  7. My gut says go with FF 48 but long term it's tuff to say. There's a good chance none would be a great investment long term for two reasons in my opinion. 1. The financial market hasn't had a major correction in a while and you can bet in the next 5+ years it's more then likely to hit. 2. After infinity war part 2 nobody knows how much longer super hero movies will remain at the top of the cultural food chain. I would personally go with whatever makes you happiest.
  8. There are so many horror stories like this regarding PGX im stunned they stay in business.
  9. In the last few years the economy as a whole has been doing great, investors making a killing, stocks going threw the roof, comic hoarders of books like NM 98, ASM 300, Hulk 181 and FF 48 are laughing to the bank. Until recently many millionaires just popped out of thin air via crypto currency's like bitcoin. People are throwing around more money then they know what to do with right now. So if that lot was over valued some guy/girl out there obliviously didn't feel the same way and dished out the big bucks either out of ignorance or not giving a
  10. I agree 100% Unfortunately this is the kind of world we live in now. Books can double over night with an announcement or a rumor its just crazy. I call it the hype era of comics.
  11. I guess if your a dealer or someone with a huge budget then yeah its worth it but for most people all the info is available within minutes for free all over the place. I also just found out that go collect has completely over hauled there site and now it does not require a payed account to see prices over the last 30-760 days across all grades.
  12. I never understood paying for GPA when sites like go collect offer that info free (if you keep making free accounts and get 5 free) and I know GPA has all kinds of indepth features but really? To get an idea of what a book was worth and what it's selling for now isn't all that hard. Go collect data goes back to 2011 which is good enough for me. Heritage archives works great as well and is completely free to anyone who as an account. Heritage has sales all the way back to 2001. This new offer thing isn't really that big of a deal for those experienced in value trends.
  13. Picked my copy up a few months ago from a fellow boardie, couldn't be happier
  14. It blows my mind how DC has characters like the Spectre and does practically nothing with him. With all the super heros movies these days and how generic they have become you would think DC would give him a shot. The way he kills people alone is so creative and cool. Would make for a great crime/suspense drama. Could also have horror elements as well. From what I learned recently he disappeared in the late 40s only to be brought back 20 years later in the silver age. Does anyone know why he hasn't been used more by DC both in comics and movies becuase I think he's extremely interesting. Also if anyone has more insight as to why he disappeared in the golden age I would love to know. Here's a clip I found featuring him. I shared it with a few of my non comic friends and they all pretty much said they same thing. "That was awesome! Is there a series like this?" Then I tell them, sadly no
  15. I'm sure he did well as a dentist but really he's that rich? I mean if he is planning on bringing them to the grave then yes no amount of money if he's financially secure will do the trick.
  16. It's just not a show for non fans like walking dead was. I say was because walking dead is going into the toilet as well. Almost feels like someone on the TV team is trying to sabotage the show because it literally can't get any worse.
  17. This thread got me thinking, what about condition. Say something like Detective Comics 27 in 9.6-9.8? If there was someone out there who put the word and was looking for such a copy, offered some insane amount like 5 million plus. How many people would come out of the woodworks with the best they got? More realistically what amount would it take for the dentist's copy to surface? Or the Mile high Action 1?
  18. It's actually getting harder as any potential owners could die, throw it out or lose it in something like a flood, fire, theft etc. Each passing day makes it harder. Especially for something this insanely rare. Don't tell him that though
  19. Didn't hear about that. But to date in 9.6-9.8 there are less graded copies then walking dead. So all people had to at the time was take a quick look on the Census. Would prove it was a farse. At least as far as high graded copies are concerned. Not sure how people can fall for something so easy to verify? The real problem is the first episode was way to ambiguous for non comic fans. I tried watching it as if I never read preacher and had no idea what to expect and it just falls flat for those non readers. Doesn't leave the audience with a burning desire to return the following week to see what happens next. Just look at the ratings every week since release. From just over 2 million for the pilot to less then 1 million for the season 2 finally. The show is a bust, that's why this book is going nowhere.
  20. Does he own a copy of Motion Picture Funnies Weekly? First Namor? The book is Uber rare.
  21. HOS in any grade will never be $5-$10. Even in the face of economic collapse
  22. Preacher 1 Not down to 5-10 bucks but definitely a significant decline.(in HG it was never worth that) The hype for this book was insane, then the first episode came out and the masses didn't get into it. Everyone was thinking this was the new wallking dead, instead it crashed and continues to decrase to this day. Alot of people got burned on this book.
  23. I remember about 8-10 months ago there was an FF 5 CGC 3.5 on MCS. For $1300 ish...I almost bought it but decided to pass. What a regret
  24. I think even those who love Deadpool have to admit the art in NM 98 is just dreadful. Cables face on the cover makes me cringe if I stare at it long enough
