  1. Doesn't seem to me that these are having any impact on the originals. The originals are keeping their value and people who want the art but can't afford the originals are able to have a legitimate second printing. Seems like everyone is winning.
  2. These are legitimate reprints not knock offs are they not?
  3. I've never had a book pressed. I have concerns about it. A. How much does it cost? This includes the cost of shipping the book, having it pressed, and having it shipped back. B. Anytime I ship an ungraded book there is always concern that something could happen to it in shipping. The price that I paid (with tax) is almost dead on with the 24 month average for graded 8.5s. So I would really need to get a 9.0 or higher grade to make anything on this. Bottom line: I paid too much. I didn't look carefully enough at the book when I bought it. In my mind and with my untrained eye I figured it had to be at least a 9.0. I was wrong.
  4. Loving what I've seen so far. I wish they had access to the main Marvel U characters so they could do the original Old Man Logan story but this looks very good. They can fit this in better with their other movies too since it isn't so far in the future.
  5. Just noticed he was born the day before me.
  6. KPR, both staples are firmly attached but the bottom one does protrude on the outside more than the top one. Michaelangelo, yes there is a light crease in that corner.
  7. I first became aware of Hickman with his F4 run. I enjoyed it well enough but not as much as Waid's run. The next time I read something from him it was Secret Wars. I would describe that as a convoluted mess that didn't really pay off in the end. He's an ambitious story teller for sure. I picked up the first issue of BMM but that was it.
  8. Thanks guys. Bit of a bummer. Probably not going to be worth me spending the money to get it graded. Looks like I didn't get as good of a deal as I thought.
  9. I just happened to walk into a store shortly after this book was put on the shelf. It wasn't cheap (for me) but after looking what they go for graded I thought I could make some money on this. Please let me know what you think this will grade. Thanks in advance.
  10. Got mine yesterday and they are in great shape. All three look like 9.8 candidates. Wishing I ordered 2 sets.
  11. Yeah I haven't found Thane to be particularly interesting thus far. He's Thanos's son which is cool and all but I like Thanos much better than Thane. I'm really enjoying the new Thanos series. Two issues down...two named characters dead.
  12. After reading Batgirl 6 tonight I realized that Penguin's son first appears there. He wasn't mentioned as being part of it in the solicitation. So I ordered three copies of issue 7. Boooo.
  13. I snagged a few copies of this one as well. Also, Batman #14 came out this week. I get my comics bi-monthly and will be waiting a couple weeks for this one but I pre-ordered a couple extra copies. I dig the cover and the description makes it sound like something big is happening between Batman and Catwoman. They "make a decision about their future that may change their city forever". Probably just the hype machine rolling but we'll see. Even the Tim Sale variant looks decent on this one. By the way, I don't expect it to get hot necessarily but if you like Thanos character check out the new series. The first two issues have been very good. Normally I only like Thanos when Jim Starlin is writing him but I'm making an exception here.
  14. To be fair, people who can $9K comics are usually in a situation where they can financially meet the basic needs of life pretty comfortably, especially in America, where making $300K gets you pretty much the same life as making $2M per year (other than the size of your very nice house), of course excluding NYC and SF where studio apt's might cost you a mil. This is true. It is hard for me to conceive of spending 9k on one comic book (especially one that doesn't have a long track record) but if someone is making 3-4 times what I do then I guess it's not a big deal. Doesn't you concern also have to do with it being a Modern Variant? If I was a prospective buyer then yes that would concern me. The value of moderns seems to be much more fluid. I would be concerned that I was buying at the top of the market and that it could only go down from here. It's not my money though. The buyer may be wealthy enough that he isn't overly concerned if it drops $1000, $2000 or more. If he is an avid ASM collector, a collector of these Dirty Dozen books, or whatever then that may outweigh potential declines in value.
