  1. BIG DAY for me! I not only got my first ever John Byrne piece, but it's from his legendary 1980's Superman/Action Comics run (which is what made Superman my all-time favorite character). I honestly couldn't be happier to own even a small piece of what is one of my most favorite runs in comics history: https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1515639 HUGE "thank you" to Jim Warden for helping make this dream come true! I realize it's not a splash, and doesn't even feature Superman, but it's a page that will mean the WORLD to me for years to come. I tend to buy pages that mean something to me personally, and this page definitely fits that criteria!
  2. This is a longshot, I realize, but figured I'd post and give it a shot... I inadvertently purchased an Ultimate Iron Man page by the team of Andy Kubert/Danny Miki. It was labeled "Ultimate X-Men" at the top of the page, so you can see the confusion. It's actually a lovely page from issue #2, depicting the birth of Tony Stark (his "first appearance" in a way). However, though I love the character, my art collecting interests at this time don't include Iron Man. What I would LOVE to do is trade this for an Andy Kubert page that is actually from Ultimate X-Men (issue #5 or #6). An Adam Kubert page could potentially work as well. I realize this is an oddly specific trade proposal, so am unlikely to find a trade partner here. Like I said though... worth a shot.
  3. I usually don't even bother, as I take collectors at their word when they write "NFS." That being said, I did it once. I knew exactly what the owner had paid (though I didn't say that), and I just offered 4x that amount. He accepted, and we completed the sale. If he had countered, I would have just moved on, no hard feelings. This was a page that originally sold for < $100 though, so it's not like I was offering 4x a $2,000 page (or $8K). It just so happened that it was a panel page from a storyline that meant something to me personally. I love the page though, and am extremely happy to own it now. I'm glad I took the chance and reached out to the owner!
  4. Beautiful page! A bit out of my price range, but VERY nice. I especially liked that Hyperclan/White Martian storyline (especially since it featured Superman before he went Blue Electric).
  5. Unfortunately, the only page on there that was part of the Morrison/Porter run is #38, page 13. I actually requested that page last year, but Spencer told me it's no longer available. He probably just hasn't had a chance to take down the listing... You can't imagine how disappointed I was to find out it was already gone!
  6. Hello all! I'm a huge fan of the Grant Morrison/Howard Porter JLA. As such, I'm hoping to find some pages from that seminal run. Not really looking to break the bank, so covers and splash pages are probably out. However, if you have panel pages, or even talking heads stuff featuring supporting characters at an affordable price, I would definitely be interested. I'm really just looking to own (any) artwork from a series I love so much. Hopefully some of you can help me. Thanks in advance!
  7. Very cool page! Always nice to read about other collectors making progress on their long-term collection goals. Hope you find some more pages from that issue. I'll definitely keep an eye out for you!
  8. Beautiful Jimenez page kbmcvay. The Nightcrawler in the upper right is especially awesome!
  9. Received two absolute beauties in the mail this week! They're the very first additions to my ComicArtFans gallery! First up, this amazing Whilce Portacio X-Factor splash, featuring the villainy of Apocalypse Portacio X-Factor Apocalypse splash Next up, this awesome Val Semeiks double page splash from Grant Morrison's JLA/Wildc.a.t.s graphic novel, featuring the entire Wildc.a.t.s team! Semeiks Wildc.a.t.s double page splash
  10. I first ordered from Mr. Beck several years ago, also during his holiday sale. In fact, he was the first dealer with which I ever placed an order. My original comic art budget back then was pretty small. SO SMALL that my first order, once he subtracted out the unavailable pages, ended up being less than a hundred dollars! There are a lot of dealers that wouldn't have even replied to me for such a small amount, but he did, and he helped me get a couple pages that I still cherish to this day. I can honestly say that if I hadn't had such a good experience with him then, that I probably would have abandoned the hobby entirely. Since that first order, though, my subsequent holiday orders have steadily grown larger each year. This year's is the biggest yet. He's definitely one of the main reasons that I've not only ended up sticking with the hobby, but invested more money into it each year. I got my order in this year on 12/22 and am still waiting to hear back. It is frustrating to wait this long without a response. However, he's never once failed to get back to me, so I have faith I'll hear back eventually. In the grand scheme of things, a few extra weeks wait is a small price to pay for some artwork I'll love for a lifetime. I just hope some of the pages I requested are still available! The NOT KNOWING is always the hardest part!
  11. Recently discovered this board, registered, and am sure glad I did! I've read through a large portion of this thread and have learned so much. I've been dabbling in the hobby for awhile now, but never really interacted with like minded individuals. Glad to see there's a place for others that share my passion. I must say, all of your wonderful collections put my (comparatively small) collection to shame, but I just enjoy seeing all the beautiful pictures you post. I registered for the comicartfans page years ago, but never created a gallery or posted a page before. I'm putting a couple pages (very recent purchases) up tonight to share. I'll be sure to post them in the appropriate thread soon. In the meantime, I'm LOVING seeing the great artwork you are all adding to your collections! Some AMAZING stuff on this board, and always great to see fellow fans find those special pieces that mean so much to them personally. I always gravitate to pieces with which I have a personal connection (whether it's from a book I loved in my youth, or from a personal favorite artist), and it's as much fun reading your stories about why you bought a certain page as it is looking at the page itself!
