  1. Thanks for looking ...WTB the following, paying well, prefer slabbed, but will consider raw....no restored/qualified/unsightly.... Justice League 107 cgc 9.8 Rangers Comics 60 and 63 7.0 or better Jumbo 69 in 6.0 or better Lassie 22 in 8.0 or better Amazing Ghost Stories 4.0 or better Ghost Comics 4 in 7.0 or better
  2. Don’t see the teensy color flaking upper right edge to the right of the N in the 9.0, but it’s a little hard to tell. Maybe some bits got lifted improving it. Also interesting to see, though others don’t seem to care about it, the recessed staple in the 9.0. I still don’t know if that’s a pressing induced defect, manufacturing thing, or naturally aging comic book thing. Still an amazingly gorgeous old book.
  3. that is a great question....apparently so...it seems more and more that grading standards are being lowered and more modification of the GA/SA books which in turn leads to regrade and resub and regrade and resub and while that generates additional fees to the CGC and higher auction results, this "game" long term hurts the true GA/SA long term collector/investor with no assurance that some 8.5 copy is gonna come up to your 9.0 level at anytime. I would really like an answer to staple cleanng...that seems to be conserving Nothing happened at all. They simply don't put "rusted staples" on the label any longer. I'm sure its in the graders notes if you pay for them. I think they do this as a favor to sellers or perhaps to get people to pay for graders notes. Sadly I got burned on a GA CGC 9.0 a few years where you couldnt see the top staple in the scan. The book was immaculate and fortunately only cost about $300. When I got it I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, the top staple was so rusted it had enlarged, but somehow the rust didnt seem to have spread to the paper. I thought maybe it rusted after slabbing, so I ordered to graders notes to confirm...but to my surprise the only note in the graders notes was "Top staple rusted". Not sure how they ever gave this book a 9.0. So...sadly every time I get a book online, if I can't see the staples I have to order the graders notes or ask the owner. It's happened multiple times now on books between 8.0-9.0 where even the notes will say "moderate rust top staple" etc.
  4. For CGC I don’t think it’s incorporated into the grade but it creates grade caps. They actually outline it pretty well on their grading scale page. Cr/ow max grade = 9.6 (with rare exceptions, although I’ve never seen a 9.8 with less than off white) Light tan max = 8.5 slightly brittle Max is 6.5 brittle max is 3.5 https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/grading-scale/
  5. There's also this recessed staple. Is this is a pressing thing? Or is it an old comic thing... I dont really know, but I've seen it on many high grade GA books and it seems to get a pass. Dunno how most people feel about it but it's always struck me as an eyesore, and something you'd think should affect the grade but it doesn't ever seem to. Be curious to know the explanation for this 'defect" and if it typically bothers people as much as it does me.
  6. My humble suggestions...classic caught with the farmers daughter...classic jilted lover/catfight....and classic big gun(s)
  7. Just did a cash and trade with Earl. Easy to deal with, and a very fast transaction. Look forward to more trading with or buying from him in the future.
  8. I’ll take the over and go a ridiculous 2.16 mil.
  9. I probably missed this during my 20 year hiatus...so I can see her being more important now. I'm glad she's recovered from the 1997 Batman and Robin movie, because when I think Poison Ivy I think Uma Thurman and it takes a special kind of movie to make Uma Thurman look bad, but they somehow pulled it off. Good to know, not being heavy in to DC hero comics maybe I have been overlooking the keyness of 181. Maybe 90k isn't that unreasonable in a relative sense.
  10. Uhhh...you must not be paying much attention to TMNT #1 lately. However, while I generally agree that no one who collects comics and has ever paid more than 100$ for one should ever criticize anyone else for any comic purchase at any price...the 90k for a 9.8 first appearance of poison ivy strikes me as out of balance with other Batman related books like say Detective 140. Looking at GPA the record price paid for one appears to be 38k..... I think the Riddler at one time was a far more iconic batman villian, and there's no doubt the book is harder to come by in grade than Batman 181 in minty fresh condition ... but maybe poison ivy is more important to today's girly centric comic connoisseur? Maybe this is an apples to oranges comparison. I dunno...it does seem like this 181 went to the moon just because "9.8".
  11. I eagerly await the day CGC can do resto reversals for “cover cleaned.” I assume this will be achieved by throwing some dirt on the book and bumping up the grade the appropriate number of notches.
  12. Great lookin 5.5 there!
  13. Not much for horror covers typically, but always liked this one with the bloody knife wielding psycho threatening the reader
  14. Courtesy of a boardie...not as hard to find in decent shape as it seemed a few years ago, the price run up on this has really flushed some nice copies out. It wasn't 2 or 3 years ago that I found and hoarded I think 6 copies of this in the VG range all for between 25-100$...fast forward a few flips later and those all have essentially paid for this now. Happy days.
  15. Might be helping yourself to a bargain here too. These are really cool, lotta great covers in the mix.
  16. This book looked familiar...so I bought it and entombed it to keep it from falling apart.
  17. This is the only book I've ever purchased from Gary Dolgoff, off ebay, despite seeing his adds in the OPG for years and years ...he called it a stricly graded vg/f. Again I defer to the experts.
  18. Happy days at last...good vaccine news, travel related stocks that I bought low when they tanked on the rise, and this one that I was hoping for a 6.5 out of comes back in this holder. It was immaculate other than that chip on the lower right corner, and I'm certainly willing to defer to the grading experts on this one...
