  3. Lower grade but cover is tight and the stamp is still inside. Only problem is some creases in the cover and the 8-8 written on the U. Happy just to add it to my collection, I always regreted selling the one I had.

Awesome. Thanks for showing that, makes me feel slightly better about my copy. Not saying yours is [embarrassing lack of self control], but makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who doesn't have a high grade copy. thumbsup2.gif

  4. My pick ups for the week are for all those modern, variant collectors out there ...

First off, a great copy of the Wolverine #20 RRP edition:

Next, the Art Adams Red Sonja #1 (1:65) variant:

And finally, the Red Sonja #1 RRP "1:300" variant:

One of these days, I promise I'll let this whole variant thing go and start getting some of the bronze and late silver age books that I really want.

Just got back from CGC as a 9.4, lost Powerball but this was nice

Don't want to rain on your parade, but that don't look like a 9.4!

Looking at the edges all around...or is is just a poor scanner?

Yeah, I gotta say you got pretty lucky on that one if it is a 9.4. Of course, it is a silver age book, so that automatically raises it a couple of grades

So does that mean in another 10 years or so we can resubmit all our bronze to get upped a couple of grades or better yet in another 20 years all our moderns will get automatic upgrades? Sorry that x-men is a nice book but if its a 9.4, then i'm greggy. 893whatthe.gif

What makes it not be a 9.4? Have you got the OSG and looked at some examples of 9.4's? Book looks beautiful and a little wear is allowed in 9.4

Not trying to bust your chops, but i see nothing that would make this book not a 9.4. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I have seen 9.0's that look better than that 9.4.

  7. There have been many memorable threads, but two of my favorites are...

Hobgoblin's liberal use of comic "values" thread

XOBOblahblahblah's thread about how to put together a comic box (deathlok's use of the Robin corner shock pose had me laughing harder than any other post ever).

    thumbsup2.gif

I agree. I'm upset that my thread did not make the Top 6. frown.gif

BTW, I still don't consider my extremely common 90's books to be worth less than what I paid for them. hi.gif

  8. Here's a number of books I picked up this week; all raw of course.

Crisis on Infinite Earths 1-12, mostly VF/NM (one or two possibly VF or so and a few NM)

    Uncanny X-Men 158, VF/NM

    171, NM

    201, VF/NM

    211, NM-

    268, NM

    Annual 14, NM-

Don't have them scanned in yet. If anybody really wants to see any of them, just say so.

  9. I hate to ask, but can you guys send pics of what your talking about? I am drawing quite the blank.

    mylite.jpg

I find that when I fold the mylar a bit above the board, the board rises up above the bottom of the book. So I started folding the mylars right at the top edge of the fullbacks, and have never had any problems.

  10. Comicsupply, I've heard a number of forumites talk about putting their primo books in 4mil archive holders after they've already put them in a mylite2 with a fullback. If I'm using the standard size m2s, what size m4 do I need to make a good fit?

overkill. you'd just be spending extra money that's not really necessary. there was also a thread recently about how books can be damaged if you do that.

  11. Or you can do like I do,

take standard Mylite 2's and silver Fullbacks, take about 1/32nd of an inch off of each board, and you get a nice fit, without the hinderance of the bag not fitting in the box. Looks really nice, the book doesnt move and yet it is easy to get the book in and out of the mylite2.

Or instead of taking all that time and effort, use "Standard" size fullbacks and Mylites2 (or Silver size).

If you fold the flap over right at the top edge of the board, neither the board or book are going to jump around.

But the board is not wide enough for my tastes when I use it for my silvers. The regular board is not wide enough, so i cut them down so that they fit snug and still give me the extra room i need.

893scratchchin-thumb.gif My Standard size full backs are just a tad wider than my silver age books. confused-smiley-013.gif Not by much, but the comics do not overlap the boards. I'm not dumb enough to let that happen.
