Ugh if only you had posted 24 hours earlier haha. I just spent all my disposable money on an X-men #1 this morning but those ASMs and AFs looks so darn sexy.

They are the notes associated with the cgc number and book but you never know if thats accurate. I agree, even holding in my hands under a bright light I couldnt see any of the dents or creases through the slab that they mention. I can kinda make out some slight denting/creasing near the spine like it had been stacked vertically prior to grading so a pressing would get rid of that. But other than that I cant find any of the other flaws.

I bought this a few years ago already graded and am finally getting around to debating whether to resubmit after a pressing. This was graded back in 2007. I aquired a grail for a decent price because on the cover is part of a sticker, (probably a second hand store label or something). Im curious how difficult or easy it would be to remove the sticker without damaging the book. I'm sure I would need a professional to do it but I thought I would get your guys opinion on the best possible course if action.

I have an ASM #4 CGC 8.0 that I bought that was already graded by CGC back in 2007 so not old old label but older. I was planning on simply reholdering because the case itself has a few smudges and the label on top is peeling off. I decided to buy the grader notes to see if it would be worthwhile to press and possibly get an upgrade. With regards to the grader notes, it actually seems like it would be a perfect candidate for a pressing. What do you guys think? I looked on his website a couple weeks ago and it said that he was processing books from March of 2018. It appears it has since been updated.

I know that CCS is the main presser in the industry. However, they are expensive and I dont entirely trust them not to damage my books (they detached a staple from the cover of my ASM 14). I also know of Joey and his reputation and would love send him all my books. However, TATs on his website appear to be roughly one year which unfortunately is too long for me in most situations. Is there a happy medium between the two?

There is definitely some amount of risk involved with getting books pressed. I submitted a solid mid grade ASM 14 to CCS and they detached the bottom staple from the cover that I know was attached before I sent it in. I have dozens of CGC graded books that I've gotten pressed over the years with no issues but when it does happen, it certainly hurts.

I dunno... A substantial number of keys (perhaps not an IM 1) have seen a greater ROI than nearly all stocks in recent years. Not saying its sustainable in the extreme long term but collectibles in general are becoming a fairly viable addition to any portfolio.

I have two high grade Amazing Spider-man books who's holders eventually need to be replaced (one has a minute crack and the other has an external label peeling off). Note that I bought these after they were already graded. One is an old label graded back in 2000 and the other was graded in 2007. I was hoping to maybe get a few people's opinion as to whether I should simply get a reholder or if I should try for a pressing/regrade and hope for an improvement. The books are: ASM 4 graded in 2007 at 8.0 ASM 9 graded in 2000 at 8.5 Personally, I believe the ASM 9 is most likely an 8.5 so I'm leaning towards a simple reholder on that one. However, the ASM 4, in some regards, looks even better than the ASM 9 yet is a grade lower. The price difference between an 8.0 and an 8.5 on a #4 is substantial but have always been scared to take a chance and possibly ending up with a lower grade. I've attached pictures so any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Long story short, I sent in an ASM 14. It came back with the cover detached at the bottom staple. I know for a fact that the staple was attached prior to sending it in because I took scans of it. I was worried about the ink smudge on the right but as you can see, the cover is clearly attached. Is there anything I can do to hold CCS or CGC accountable (most likely it was CCS since CGC even noted it on the graders notes) for this? I also got back a "Qualified" ASM Annual #1 with detached pages that I know weren't detached when I sent them in but unfortunately do not have proof of it. What the hell is going on over at CCS?

As far moderns go, I'm been buying up Batman Beyond #1 newsprint edition copies as often as I can. They seem to be fairly rare especially since there is also a free promo edition and a 6 flags edition that are worth a fraction of the price. With a future movie being a real possibility, prices are starting to soar. 9.8s are going for 400+ and that's without any confirmations yet.

Is this the general consensus at the moment? I, personally, have not gotten a single 9.8 in quite some time despite several being pristine and wasn't sure if I was just unlucky or if this is a systemic shift in grading.

"Newbie" is still here and still reading comments and from what I've read, I'm far from the only one that's been disappointed by CCS. I intend to go 3rd party pressing in the future. I did my homework but in the spirit of the debate on this thread I will not name who.

Yes I did. I was fairly underwhelmed I have to admit. Its possible I put too much faith in pressing in general but on several of my grader notes, there were flaws listed that I would have thought would have been alleviated with a pressing. Nearly every single one had "non-colorbreaking spine stress lines" listed with one having a "cover indentation" and another had a tiny non-colorbreaking "crunch" on one corner. I will most likely try out 3rd party pressers in the future such as Joey who seems to be very popular on here.

I just got back my Modern tier books and none of my 9.6s had grader notes which sucks, because I am curious as to what prevented them from being 9.8s as I genuinely can't find a single flaw in any of them.
