  1. I've never seen them bagged in my area, but seeing books like this was common when I was a kid. Generally with the top of the cover cut off and sold for a dime (normal cover price was .25 at the time). I even picked up a Hulk 181 like this.
  2. Why call it "Conqueror" when the the premise of the story is to just repel an usurp attempt and not really conquer anything? Whose writing this? God, I really hope they don't screw this up. And definitely no friggin' "origin" story again.
  3. I thought you got a good deal on that. I had an early low bid on it, but didn't want to pursue it since I'm pretty happy with my raw copy.
  4. I'm almost ashamed to admit that as this movie nears, I find my (initially insane) enthusiasm seems to be waning a bit. Maybe it's because of hype fatigue or the number of scenes we've seen already, but now I'm more in the camp of "I just hope this is not gonna suck" than "Man, this is gonna rock. Can't wait".
  5. God, I hated that period when Marvel posted those billboard size banners at the top of their covers. Makes an otherwise beautiful book look cheesy.
  6. I don't keep them in my boxes, but I do use the rechargeable type in my safe where I keep the most expensive ones and other valuables.
  7. Nothing new though. Same scenes recycled from the previous trailers. Great game. Edelman was only a slightly rusty from what I could tell. Was really surprised at how well he played considering how long he's been on the side line. Was worried about Gronk too, but he played fine as well. On to Denver (sorry Steeler fans, don't think your team stands a chance tomorrow).
  8. She still looks like she can use a few more lbs to me.
  9. Hey, you just triggered some forgotten memories. I got issue 13 off the rack when I was a kid. This was my first intro to the character. Thought it was really gritty compared to the other Marvel title even before I even what gritty meant. If I recall, Luke got pretty scratched up in this book, which confused me because I couldn't figure out if he was actually invulnerable or if he was just super strong and could take it.
  10. Man, the who,e lot is nice. I can never seem to find books like this in the raw.
  11. Man, Gil Kane could really spin up some great covers back in the day. Great book.
  12. Latest pickup. There must be a zillion of these "limited" editions as the seller sold it to me for cover price plus free shipping. There may be no investment value here, but I'm plenty happy to have it.
  13. A modest upgrade to my mid-grade raw copy. Who ever thought Arthur Reeves was even worth mentioning on the label.
  14. Maybe not a bad cover, but it's a definitely peeve of mine, I don't like covers with huge disembodied heads dominating the real estate.
  15. I love Gil Kane, but I always thought this was a lousy cover for a Barry Smith drawn story and also for Red Sonja's first appearance. Issue #22, when this story was supposed to have gone to press, would have been much better if they made the deadline and actually published the story on time (even with no Red Sonja).
  16. Good choice. The interior is just as ugly! I think it's more stupid than ugly.
  17. WTF is up with Aquaman? It looks like he posing in an Abercrombie & Fitch commercial.
  18. I think if this really turns out to be Lex Jr, this would make a lot of sense. If Bruce Wayne is older, why not Lex Sr?
