  1. I guess I'm still relatively of new to grading, but what's the incentive to crack open the XMen94? Is it the negative association of anything with the Restored color tag despite the high rating, or a general preference for unslabbed comics? I mean once it's restored it can never be re-graded as not restored, but it'd still have more value with the grading than being unslabbed unless you just didn't disclose the restoration when selling it, right?
  2. As someone with a bunch of Kenner Star Wars figs but none on the cards, that's very much my jam. Not so much the box labelled spiders though, my wife would hate that.
  3. I'd love to get that Jim Lee X-Men box, but I only see it on ebay for $180, so that's a no. The place I normally get my boxes hasn't had anything new or old in stock since covid came along, but here's my rack as it is now.
  4. I got nothing for you. Once we fell hard into Lego last year my comic room just got mobbed. I got all new camera gear for work and wanted to take new photos for the thread but it's been a mess for ages now. Shameful. Edit: oh I just meant boxes in general. If you meant comic boxes just keep getting more shelving.
  5. I'd really love to know more about how you made this. I can't tell from this photos, is this actually hanging on the drywall, sticking out, or did you cut a hole and it's recessed into the wall? Is there a front cover I'm just not seeing a reflection on, or is it open? If there's a cover, is the border on the cover and the whole thing swings open to access the interior? I used to like the acrylic case I got for my Kenner SW's in addition to all my scenes on shelves, but now I realize it's cramped and unoriginal and I need to tear my walls up to make something like this!
  6. I hope there's a Samurai Santa #1 on display here in December.
  7. Yeah I'm totally here for the Groo love, he's what got me into comics as a kid and I still love them. Also the fact that you're swapping them out so often means even with limited space you're probably enjoying your comic collection more than 99% of us. Kudos grendelbo, from one bo to another.
  8. Is that "3-25" actually written on the cover? How much of the score deduction does that account for?
  9. I really can't say whether CGC would get you a higher grade with a pressing or without, but personally I'd have it regraded just for the consistency with the rest of my collection. Only CBCS I have is a Wolverine #1 witnessed sign by Claremont and Rubinstein. If only witnessed signings were transferable between the companies I'd love to regrade it with that CGC Wolverine graphic.
  10. Thanks for mentioning slab-pro. Seems like an interesting product although I'm not interested in that one myself, but I found they do invisible hard plastic backing boards so you can see the rear cover of bagged comics, kind of just like a top-loader but fits in a bag so doesn't take any more space than everything else in your comic boxes. A neat idea but the amazon store page lists all their products then the product pages seem empty. They ought to look into that.
  11. Looks a lot like the Ikea MOSSLANDA shelving. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/mosslanda-picture-ledge-white-40291766/
  12. Aside from the centering this looks pretty decent. Is the back cover hugely deformed or do you have any way of knowing what's wrong with the inside to warrant a 2.5?
  13. I'd agree that the safe deposit box is the most secure option, but I'd still want a low grade copy with a nice presenting cover to keep around the house to look at. Of course, the only comic I have that's approaching being worth putting in a bank would be X-Men #1, and that's already low enough that I wouldn't want to look at anything lower. At that point I'd have to just display the Marvel Milestone Edition reprint.
  14. I regret buying two copies of X94... but only at 7.0, because Wolverine isn't on the cover. Shoulda sprung for a 9, ah well.
  15. How do they keep their slabbed toy trains from rattling inside the plastic?
  16. Hey I'm nearby, when can my son Logan take a field trip to this room? :P
  17. I want to know the story behind NOT knowing you have two IH181's. How long did you not know you had them, and how did you find out you did?
  18. Seriously? I'd jump at the chance to own a 9.0 for that price... but not that one. Does it come with EXTRA Marvel Value Stamps inside or something?
  19. What I enjoyed most was among all the plain white or BCW logo boxes I noticed the few old Comic Defense System blue logo boxes. My very first long box! It may be short on decor but I have to hand it to you, pound for pound it's one hell of a comic book room.
  20. That sounds like the most boring issue of What If...? ever. How large was the print run on 181? I know someone just found that big stash of untouched M.A.S.K. toys in a warehouse but is there any precedent at all for what you're proposing?
  21. Yeah Keys_Collector is right. I named my son Logan and was at a stop light a few months back with a guy with a baby Wolverine sticker on his car window so I asked and he named his son Logan too. I have a feeling there'll be a steady supply of Wolverine fans in the future.
  22. Can you imagine allowing your new comics to just drop four feet nowadays? Different times!
  23. Just spitballing an idea of displaying slabs. If someone were to make something tailor-made for displaying slabs, you know those poster displays some comic book stores have that hold say 20 posters vertically in cases and you flip through them, and if you leave it open to one poster it just stays that way until someone moves it again? It'd be cool to have something like that for slabs that maybe held two across and four or 6 vertically, so you could leave it open and easily change the ones visible.
