  1. It looks like the black should be first, the red on top of it . His book seems to have extra black added on top of the white writing, where it doesn't belong.
  2. I have that Wave Warriors as a VG, so I might have hit the wrong key. It was just a bunch of modern drek that I paid four cents each for, but it was eye-opening and most likely will be the last time I send in any books under that phase of their business. I have a few lots coming up in auctions. Hopefully I get closer to the prices I was expecting. I absolutely believe the books they buy as VG are sold as VG, and every other grade. That is not an issue. I appreciate that someone from MCS reached out and asked me if I wanted the books back. I can't say enough about their customer service.
  3. MCS has the Archie 3000, which you value at $37 for $4 in VF. While they don't have that issue in a CPV, they have other CPVs from that run going for less than $5.
  4. Marvel. Rocket Racoon vs. Rocky the Flying Squirrel?
  5. Conan says if they buy a book as a F, it gets sold as a F. I've no reason not to believe him.
  6. That works for consignments, but these were books I sold them. Books they were buying at $1 for VFs and instead became F- and bought for sixteen cents. I submitted some lots, which were also knocked quite hard but in an auction, people understand and bid accordingly. One door closes, and another opens.
  7. MCS has announced an auction devoted to the distinguished competition to celebrate its 10th anniversary. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
  8. I recently sent in a bunch of moderns that I'd picked up for almost nothing, and they were buying. I reviewed the books with a magnifying glass and only sent books I was confident would be VF or better. Nearly all of them were called Fines or worse. Absurd. I'll give away my books before I send them any more raw books, and I've sold over $100K on their site as one of the earlier consigners. I was tempted to have them returned, but the round-trip shipping would have been more than they offered me.
  9. Buying the newest shiny object is an interesting stock-buying strategy.
  10. In 1987, an extensive pulp collection walked into my shop. I knew nothing about their value but agreed to try to sell them for the owner. I contacted another store owner, who suggested two dealers. When I called the first, he told me the condition wasn't much of a factor with pulps—scarcity and content were all. The other dealer asked me a couple of questions and told me he typically pays $1-$2 per book regardless of condition. I returned the pulps to the owner with the numbers of the two dealers. It sounds like things have changed.
  11. The headline is much worse than the reality. It is a year-long program that meets once a week for two hours. The initial reports make it sound like he was sentenced to 52 weeks in jail. An accurate headline could read he was sentenced to 100 hours of classroom instructions.
  12. An auction house in Utah sold these two years ago. They were told the items came from a defunct vending machine company. I won two dozen and sold them at the Bisbee farmers market. I couldn't find anything about them online. They were offered in three lots. I won two, and my friend in Buckeye won the other. Most of mine were miscut, which made me think someone kept the pieces that were culled as imperfect.
  13. Last Saturday, I did the Tucson Comic and Toy Show. I had a $10 Spawn 1 on my display rack and two in my $5 box. No one asked about the wall book, and one was missing from the $5 box. I had a half box of Spawns and Turtles, priced aggressively, but I told anyone who came by I was offering 30% discounts for three books. I sold over 600 dollar box books, but most at a discount. I had all sorts of looks at a CGC Ultimate Fallout 4, but no one wanted to pony up $500. I had enough interest in my toys that I will bring more next time. Lugging boxes of plastic is easier than comic boxes.
  14. I don't grade higher than 9.2, and yours gets that.
  15. I don't remember him being much of a presence on these boards, but we butted heads many times over there. He suspended me there for something I said here, but I have no idea what it was about. I played more games there than I posted and studied the Whitman/DC section. Pretty much everything I know about those books I learned there.
  16. I'd put it in the 3.0 -3.5 (green label range with no MVS). I'd value the book at around $1,000 as is.
  17. The process is that each person is responsible for the package while in their custody, so any damage will be noted as it transits the system. It will take longer but is considered safer.
  18. I've had it happen several times. Once, when I ordered bottled vodka sauce from a place, and after I got the Amazon message, I called the vendor. The box was noted as damaged in transit and returned to the vendor. All Amazon said was it had been canceled. It'd happened twice on orders that had US addresses, but items were shipped from China. both indicated the item was damaged in transit. I suppose if someone notices a box oozing tomato sauce, it is safe to assume it is damaged and return it.
