Determining value and rarity of Copper Newsstands
mnaz1988 replied to mytastebud's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I’m too OCD not to try and fill in the gaps between newsstand and direct editions of my collections. I hate it though. That being said, I do find newsstand editions much more difficult to find, even for 80s books. I wouldn’t be surprised if the newsstand editions begin to rise in value above the direct. As of now, both are pretty simpatico. -

Just picked up this beauty this weekend. My oldest Batman yet, first appearance of “The Bat-Ape”. A slight tear on the middle of the spine but I’m actually very impressed with the color of the pages and the glossiness of the cover. Not bad for a 1958 book. Thanks!

Marvel Star Comics from the 80s heating up?
mnaz1988 replied to mnaz1988's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I'm waiting for The Muppets Take Manhattan to get hot. Fozzie Bear asking what he should do with the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. -
Has anyone noticed that Star Comics, from Marvel have been heating up lately? Ewoks, Peter Porker the Spider-Ham, Chuck Norris, etc. They seem to have some rise in demand lately. Any ideas as to what is causing the rise in demand? This weekend I purchased Peter Porker the Spider-Ham #1, high grade.

Incredible Hulk #6 - Detached cover
mnaz1988 replied to mnaz1988's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Yeah that's what I thought, just double checking. It's a damn shame. -
This book is generally nice looking but the covers are detached. Any guesses on a grade? 0.5? 1.0? Thanks - Mike
-
What would the grade be on this guy? I bought him a few years ago and now I’m considering trying to sell it. I always assumed no matter how good the rest of the book looks, a detached cover would be an automatic 0.5 poor. Thanks - Mike

As someone who didn't collect until the late 90s, what were some of those books priced during the 1980s? $5 a piece?

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
mnaz1988 replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I've been convinced for the last four or five years that the Bronze Age stuff is about to go bonkers. My guess is within the next couple of years, we may see more Marvel movies with characters like Werewolf by Night, Spider-Woman and maybe more Ms. Marvel stuff. -

This Week in your Collection - Moderns ONLY
mnaz1988 replied to showcase4's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Bought these two at my local comic shop. First books I bought since the virus struck in March. I heard somewhere these Negan one-shots are heating up! -
Nice, I own #1. I've had it for 20 years, but it's not a 9.8 that I can tell you LOL

Question for Werewolf By Night Fans...
mnaz1988 replied to Xenosmilus's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
DAMN That's a nice copy! Funny enough I was just wondering the same thing yesterday. Went to a local show and bought a few more issues, including Giant-Size Werewolf by Night 2. I also picked up WBN #23, 34 and 43. I actually think Werewolf by Night is a gem that will eventually become much, much more popular. Perhaps I'm wrong, though. -

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
mnaz1988 replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yeah I love horror books. Was at a show recently and saw Texas Chainsaw books but even then they seemed priced too high. Could've bought them, but decided to wait. -
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
mnaz1988 replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I notice that any book with "Michael Myers" from the Halloween films is going for well over the price guide. For example, I own Halloween #1 from November 2000 in about VF or so. On the price guide, it's $3 in 9.4. On EBay, the lowest issue is going for $15 and the highest for over $50. Many Michael Myers books are into the $100+ range but the price guide still shows them extremely low. These books seem hard to find as well. I never see them at shows or shops. Only on EBay and even there, they are difficult to find in large quantities. -
