  1. 25 Book Modern submission April 1 - Delivered to CGC Apr 15 - Box opened and SFG Apr 15 - Credit Card charged Apr 23 - G/E/I Apr 26 - Q/C Apr 26 - Shipped After a slow start where the box was not opened for a while the CGC crew really came through and moved this through the grading process. Kudos to them! Super happy with the speed and the results were solid - lots of PC upgrades in this bunch.
  2. Anything is possible, but I since CL sales are not recorded in GPA I dont figure a lot of market manipulation happens there. This sale reminded me of a massive Weird Mystery Tales #1 sale on that site years ago. I think a few of the regulars with deep pockets just really love that series - and there is a lot to love there, since some of the best horror covers of that era are in Weird Mystery Tales. This issue is also really hard to get (2 census copies in 9.8, 4 in 9.6) and it has a Wrightson cover, so I default to people losing their minds to try to fill out their high grade run. But who knows, maybe you are right and it was just an odd attempt at market manipulation.
  3. Ok, the hammer price was even worse. Am I missing something, or did two rich guys get competitive and lost their minds on this one?
  4. I was fine with the ending. So many shows go for mass battle scenes that now bore me to tears. The drama in this one was based in character interactions, and they stuck with that right through to the very end. Having said this, the reveal of "the plan" (trying to avoid spoilers) without seeing much of the plan was a bit odd for a visual medium. That type of thing works better in a book.
  5. 12 book Vintage Submission: Mar 14 - Shipped from Canada Mar 19 - Arrived at CGC Mar 20 - Box opened and SFG Mar 20 - Credit card charged Apr 17 - G/E/I Apr 25 - Q/C Apr 25 - Shipped Kudos the the CGC team for working through this way ahead of schedule! In terms of how I did, I had 3 books a bit below what I was hoping for (none were shocking) and 4 books a bit above so happy with the results. All 6 of the horror books I figured were a 9 or better came back in the 9 range, including one 9.8. So very pleased with both the results and the turn around time
  6. 12 book Vintage Submission: Mar 14 - Shipped from Canada Mar 19 - Arrived at CGC Mar 20 - Box opened and SFG Mar 20 - Credit card charged Apr 17 - G/E/I Apr 25 - Q/C This is a very pleasant surprise - I figured it would be stuck at G/E/I for another week or so.
  7. Well this seems excessive. Maybe a couple of people typoed when they were putting in bids.
  8. They may have changed this, but a few years ago I set up my account in the exact way you are describing. A buyer contacted me about why he could not make an offer on an item and the message did go through to me. It was an annoyance since I had to tell him that I refuse to deal with people who dont pay, and no I do not care about how small the items that he did not pay for were. So maybe (hopefully) Ebay fixed this to prevent messages as well.
  9. I have some Marvel horror goodness in mine that I am thinking are high grade - other similar books from the same collection that were post-1975 all scored in the 9.0-9.8 range in a Modern submission. Hopefully these do as well as the others.
  10. Great news! I hope you did well with that submission. Mine is 3/20 so hopefully this means it will clear next week. Fingers crossed!
  11. What types of comics are you trying to sell there, and how many? I typically list 200-300 slabs. I take current GPA value and ad a few bucks so buyers can make an offer, and set the auto-accept for a couple of bucks below value. I found that it was slow at the start of Jan, picked up by last half of Jan, and continued to pick up through spring. I was getting 5-8 sales per week at the end and was at the post office shipping out books pretty much daily. This is not high volume by any stretch, but I freed up a ton of space that I needed for new slabs that continue to come back from CGC as I make other submissions.
  12. I have the most patience with delays at that stage. I'm sure that some type of machinery is used for encapsulation, and any type of machine will break down from time to time. When that happens a logjam will happen as the other machines can no longer keep pace, and things will back up. At least that's how I think it works and it makes sense in my head.
  13. Here is where things stand for me with three different types of submissions:
  14. 25 Book Modern submission April 1 - Delivered to CGC Apr 15 - Box opened and SFG Apr 15 - Credit Card charged Apr 23 - G/E/I
  15. I was not able to sign up this time around because I have some family stuff coming up that makes it unlikely that I will be able to finish all of the rounds. But I am still playing along for fun and to see how I do. This round I ended up with an unofficial 5, and had one bullseye. The ASM 252 was the one that got me, figured it was a 7.5 rather than 8.5.
  16. The small number of books I was chasing were not soft at all. I guess it depends on what a person is after.
  17. I don't have any listings right now - I shut down selling on Ebay until next year. I have a set amount that I am willing to sell there each year, and after that I refuse to give that site more of my money. I use it mostly to offload smaller comics (100-250 price range). Here is my account: https://www.ebay.ca/str/thecomicdoghouse
  18. I never use promoted listings and I just shut down my Ebay listings for the year after hitting all of my selling targets.
  19. I sometimes forget I have this beauty. You are totally right - it is a good idea to stop sometimes and smell the roses.
  20. I would prefer to own the CMA since I have never owned a copy of that one, but I would prefer to try to sell the UXM 266 since there is a steady market of buyers willing to pay for one. What I buy for myself and what I buy with an eye toward reselling are two very different animals.
  21. Others have brought up a wait of about 2 weeks at the GEI stage. I am really glad this thread exists because it helps with expectations. I don't mind the longer waits if I know they are coming.
  22. 12 book Vintage Submission: Mar 14 - Shipped from Canada Mar 19 - Arrived at CGC Mar 20 - Box opened and SFG Mar 20 - Credit card charged Apr 17 - G/E/I Faster than expected
  23. A light diagonal crease from what was likely a foldover means the grade is accurate as it stands at this moment, but it really sucks if that was not there prior to submission.
