  1. Today starts a few comic auctions on my Ebay store. Some of the comics coming up for sale are: Animosity #2 Signature Series CGC 9.8 Silver Surfer #2 CGC 5.0 Spider-Man 2099 #1 CGC 9.8 ASM #378 double cover CGC 7.0 Weird War Tales #111 CGC 9.0 Wonder Woman #76 CGC 1.8 ASM #50 DVD Mini Variant CGC 9.0 Rai #0 CGC 9.6 ASM #300 DVD Mini Variant CGC 9.4 Nothing to rare or crazy, just trying to get some slabs moved. There may be more than the ones I listed, I’m going through everything and putting them up. Please excuse the BIN prices on those. I put them high because I really wanted to see where the auctions went. Thanks for looking! Link: ebay.com/str/everythingcomix
  2. I’ve done a bunch of selling on FB Marketplace. Be prepared to deal with a ton of fake offers, people wasting your time, and rude people as well. When going to make a sale watch for “replica bills” (they say replica somewhere on the bill, last place I saw one it was the bottom right corner in small letters), counterfeit bills, and I personally don’t take checks. Then the next problem is, if someone hands you a counterfeit bill or replica bill, it always turns into a confrontation. It can take a nasty turn very quickly. I’m not telling you to avoid this means because of the money you can save on eBay fees, but be careful. I always conceal carry when I meet with anyone, and have my lady or a buddy with me carrying too. I’ve never had to use it, or pull it on anyone from a bad deal, but there have been people wanting to fight, call me a liar when I can’t except their counterfeits, and things like that. From the sale of magazines and comics if you are shipping, I’d try and stick with PayPal. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories though of guys sending a raw book let’s say that was a 9.8, and they say it wasn’t as described, and send a 6.0 back. I try and video the packaging and shipping of the slab, or raw, but i don’t even know if it will help, at least it’s some sort of proof though. I apologize for not reading through the entire thread to see if you would even meet up with anyone or just ship, but just be aware if that ever crosses your mind. Its definitely a great place to get a bunch of peoples attention, but there are a lot of issues that can come from it too. On a side note, I’ve also noticed people using Instagram lately to sell comics, slabs, and magazines. I should note, most of these issues occurred from before I even started collecting comics. And some from the good old craigslist. There are two instances in the past year though that have occurred from the sale of comics while using FB Marketplace. But if two out of 20 are bad, that’s still pretty good odds. @Bird
  3. I’m not sure, I’m hoping 7+ maybe higher, but it appears to have a little resto, but I’m no expert. So we will see! I feel it is undervalued as well for such a known character. I guess we will see what the future holds. Until then, I plan on buying 5 or so more. (Like I said I love the cover lol) For everyone else, I went to a local store after work just now. I found another cheap copy of marvel premier 15 so I decided to snag it.
  4. Sweet copy! Yours looks to be in a little better condition than mine. My 181 has a kind of splotchy cover. The red faded in some areas. Nice pick up! I'm probably going to get another here soon, it's one of my favorites! Sorry ADAMANTIUM meant to quote @Wolverinex
  5. Sweet find!! Congratulations! @PunisherPunisherPunisher
  6. I think the authenticity for seller “mycomicshop” has been around before this announcement. If I remember seeing it correctly. I don’t think they are related. I vaguely remember Ebay advertising for “mycomicshop” as comic consignors. I could be wrong. I haven’t read every single page of this post, but I don’t recall reading an ETA on this new announcement.
  7. Thank you! I feel like if I could go back in time, I’d be rich (I guess we all would be lol). My brother spent years trying to get me to buy comics, If only I would of listened. Same. @ADAMANTIUM
  8. So over the last few weeks i’ve picked up quite a few comics! Some rare, some not as rare, some keys, some not. I don’t think I’ve posted any of these yet, but these are some of the ones I’m very proud of! - ASM #41, pretty ok shape! Nothing special as far as grade though. - Lana #1 - lower grade, but still in pretty good shape for its age I think. Definitely a low grade though. Pretty awesome time stamp of June 10th, 1948! - Marvel Premier #15 (1st app. of Iron Fist) - DOUBLE COVER, great shape, and I just had to have it! NM - ASM #388 x2 NM+ - Silver Surfer comics - #1 (3), #2 (3), #50 (2), Super Sized Annual #1 (3), all in NM+ condition! - ASM #361, (1st carnage) the cover is starting to detach sadly, but my fiancé got me this! - Marvel Spotlight #32 (1st spider-woman) my fiancé also got me this and I’m super pleased with it, not the highest grade, but a good copy! - Nova #1, bought this from a fellow boardie, so thank you very much! He also threw in two Godzilla comics for free (#’s 1, and 2)!!! - Incredible Hulk #377, great condition, NM+! - Naomi #1, I bought this before the hype so I don’t have much in it. I got my five other copies graded, and sold them when the price was way higher. I wanted to keep one. NM+ - ASM #41, coverless. I love this comic, so I buy as many as I can coverless or not. - Marvel Super-Heroes #12, coverless, but only paid 5 bucks for it. Couldn’t beat that. It’s complete other than the cover. - Pirates #1, I think this is the comic, it’s coverless and says “The Privateer” but I think it’s Pirates #1 from 1950? If anyone has any input, please let me know! - ASM #41, another copy, obviously not good condition, but I got it for under 10 dollars, and I thought it was interesting how the cover faded. - X-Men #40, another one of my favorite covers! I just sold my 9.2, and only have this for now, looking for some higher graded copies that I can get a good deal on. - Return of Wolverine #2, this is a Dell,Otto virgin variant. I think this was limited to 550 copies? But I could be wrong. I have a COA I think I forgot to check before posting. NM+ - Ranger Comics firehair story. If anyone has information on this please let me know! There is just a few pages of the comic but the entire firehair story if I was told correctly. I paid 5 bucks for it, I just thought it was interesting. - Werewolf By Night #33 - Planet Comics #32 cover only. Rough shape, but long story short I bought a planet comics comic, and this cover was wrapped over the comic. Turns out the comic was #66 and this cover was just wrapped over it. - Batman #181 - 1st appearance of poison ivy, I’m thinking this is going to be a higher grade! Fingers crossed! Theres more than these, if I get time I will upload those as well. Thanks for looking, I just thought I’d share, I love seeing what you all are getting! Im going to be sending these higher grades out here soon to get graded. Constantly buying more, so I will try and update you all with my new purchases!
  9. I don’t take it as mean at all. I know I have a lot more knowledge to gain, dealers to locate, contacts to make. I asked some of my questions wrong, I see how that would be giving me your contacts, which you are right, you were many years to get. I do appreciate your response. Thank you for hitting each point as well.
  10. We’ve been together a long time. We both know where each-others hidden fund is, but we don’t touch them either. I got the same advice from my father quite a while ago. I know that no one was trying to be rude, I just shouldn’t of mentioned it at all, I’ve been sick, half asleep and was trying to be funny. That backfired lol, is what it is. Like I said the more I read the post, the more I’m like why the heck did I even post that. I guess I have lots of questions, and was trying to get them all out at once.
  11. Agreed with this. We don’t really talk about it though, I was more trying to be funny with that aspect of the post, it got too literal with that, she could really care less. I usually do run it by her when I’m spending a larger amount though. We have good communication and I’d like to keep it that way. All money that I accumulate on eBay whether it’s from comic sales or my other Ebay sales stays in a separate account. I agree with this. My more cautious side is telling me to wait. I can tell a lot of keys. 70s-80s and up, but to look at hundreds of books at once at an estate sale for example might take me some time, I would not be able to make a split second decision. For the information to stay away from the hot moderns, that’s exactly what I was looking for, and that makes sense. I have been staging away, and will continue to do so. I was really wanting to hear how you all did it, but the more I read my post, the more it looks like I’m asking for you all to tell me how to flip books. I wasn’t trying to do that. I was looking at more information of what people did. But that would be giving away your secrets, and that isn’t what my intentions were. I have a lot of questions, I would have been better off separating them and asking at different times possibly.
  12. She did say she wanted to be rich.. she didn’t say in what..
  13. Lmao, I’ll get some pics together later and pm them.
  14. Let’s close this topic for today, and I’ll get some better questions together before asking. A lot of valid points have been made. I really need to build my knowledge base before attempting anything.
  15. It’s still a solid grade, and yea that definitely takes the sting off a bit. I have nowhere near the experience level as a lot of the people on here so I commonly have “stings”. Slowly getting better with time, more submissions, and learning where to look and what to look for. So hopefully that makes you feel a little better, being able to hear my misery 😂. I had two subs I got back recently that I thought had at least a 9.8, maybe higher, and was sadly disappointed by 9.6’s. No graders notes on why, which I typically rely on to learn what I missed and what to look for. I’m slowly trying to get into flipping some (sorry if that upsets people, even if it never happens, but wouldn’t that be a dream come true, to collect and sell comics full time?), so the difference between a 9.6 and 9.8 as we all know can be pretty substantial. Still made money, just not nearly as much.
  16. @greggy Probably one of my most favorite batches that you’ve gotten back recently! Keep it up! Love to see what you send out!
  17. I just got a very good deal on this book I’ve been wanting for quite a while. I’m not sure if the condition, but it’s in way better condition than I thought it was going to be for the price. Super excited! Complete with pin-up! Yay! (I’m not bending it in the first picture although it looks like I am. I have two giant pieces up cardboard under the book) Also for all the nit-pickers, I usually wear gloves when handling, I was so excited I completely forgot. My fiancé instantly reminded me and I set it right back down. Thank God for her! Trying to keep this in the best shape as possible!
  18. I contacted CGC for their grading guidelines on Matte Vs. Glossy, and here was their response: ”This answer is according to our graders. The glossy version does have a shorter right edge than the pages inside. But some copies of the matte version are also like that. CGC recognizes copies as "glossy" when the surface of the cover is almost that of glass. It's almost like someone poured a clear resin over it. If there is still texture to the paper, we will notate it as the "matte" version.” Hopefully this helps clarify for everyone. When I had posted this originally, I couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone, and the only answer I did get was that the cover on the glossy was shorter, this is why I thought mine was the glossy version. So this makes a lot more sense.
  19. Came back at 9.6 “matte”. I think someone mentioned it was “glossy”. Is there any way to determine if it was mis-labeled?
  20. I would think so, I don’t know your exact location, but since you would be having one graded, that would take longer, and be a shipped separately from the other comic. I wonder if there is some sort of customs thing that adds to the expense. It usually makes it worthwhile to ship multiple comics at once, to get the most bang for your buck with shipments. At least, that is what I have found for me. I did run into an issue where my computer pre filled the form, but put the state (Georgia), in the country slot. I couldn’t figure out why the shipping was astronomical, I reached out to CGC (they are very good at getting back to you), and they informed me of the error that I had made. So basically I had it set to send the package to the country of Georgia instead of the state. You can check for errors like that, but being in the states, it’s hard for me to know if that is an accurate amount. If you have any doubt, then reach out. That way you would make 100% sure that everything is accurate. To make the reply more effective, I would include your location (shipping information), and the raws you were planning to submit and which tiers you were trying to select (include that you wanted to press one, and that tier as well). Also, so everyone knows, that the last few shipments I’ve sent through USPS have never shown “Delivered” in the tracking information. They still show in transit, which led to a lot of worry until they showed up in my submissions. Edit: Sorry for the story, didn’t see that you weren’t a newer member, was just trying to help. My apologies, wasn’t trying to be condescending or anything.
  21. Hello everyone! I want to start by saying thank you all for the continued support on the forums, and with all the knowledge you all have provided. It has been indispensable, and I appreciate it more than you all know. Over the past almost year now, I have learned a ton of information from reading all these posts on the forums, and reaching out to some members individually and just asking for help. So thank you all for that! Ok, so I am starting to sell more slabs on eBay, and I have the intention of picking that up more. I’ve read of a few different names of websites that offer sales data, but I can’t remember them all, and don’t know which one is the most beneficial. So my question to you all, is which do you use, and why? The one that sticks out in my head right now is GPA. 10.99 a month if I remember correctly. (I could be wrong and this could be the only one, but I swear I’ve heard of more) Anyways, any input helps. As of now, I’ve just been checking sold auctions on eBay, which can be helpful, but only to a degree. It would also be nice to track sales trends (charts or graphs), to see if a slab is moving up or down. Thank you all for reading, and I look forward to the responses! - Jonathan F.
  22. @greggy Great go again, as always! Always excited to see what you get back.
  23. Maybe I will have to look into that myself. I haven't read too much, other than AC 1002 wasn't her first appearance. I guess I'll have to do some more research first then. Thank you for that information. Yea, I was thinking typically you would see that later on in the auction. Strange they did it this early. I mean this morning I was showing my girlfriend it was like $127.00, a few hours later $587.00.
