  1. I’ve been looking for this Peter panda ever since I found out it was Verzyls muse
  2. it’s an interesting piece. He blew off that other artist, nicely, who wanted to swap art. Classic Watterson. The artistic equivalent of J.D. Salinger. Just a guess, but I’ll say $7500
  3. That’s definitely GGA. And unless you count Little Orphan Annie, I declare this . . .
  4. This is in Heritage’s next big auction. I’ve looked at it many times, and much as I love the gag, the browning overpowers me. Still, it remains on the radar . . . it’s currently at $23k with 18 days left, and it’ll probably hit $50k. It pains me to think about, years ago, passing on a Sunday strip thinking $20k was too much
  5. I've read where Young Romance #1 is considered to be the first romance book. Is there a consensus as to the first appearance of Good Girl Art? Or is this an impossible question, with just too many examples that could be considered GGA?
  6. There are a few interesting things offered over here (my greedy side refuses to say which, exactly), but there’s so much noise going on over at Heritage that I may sneak away with a few things under the radar. Then again, youse guys are probably hiding in the all grass, waiting to spring
  7. Seriously. It’s a .5 in the other guys holder. $200 k
  8. 20 years later it’s still not a great deal. I doubt anyone paying $100k 20 years ago for what turns out to be cold title would disagree
  9. And the models couldn’t have much liked how it worked out for them. You know the young ladies below got their wake up call somewhere in their lives, when they figured it out
  10. that you'll never find. Batman is DC and Cap is Timely, and never the twain shall meet
  11. What drives me nuts is the inconsistency. One note for one book might indicate bindery tears and rusty staple, and the next grader note from a book with the same defects will reflect neither condition. This is not an exaggeration and it is not in my head. I've got concrete examples. I guess its just something we must live with. When I buy a book over a certain dollar amount, I will have already gotten the grader notes. Time and again, there are things going on with the book not reflected in the notes, and only visible with the book in hand. I like happy endings, but there's not always a happy ending for some of the bigger acquisitions I've made.
  12. Good lord it sounds like you all but pulled down his pants and spanked him in front of some power players. And it sounds like the guy deserved it. That was the end of your partnership, sounds like.
  13. I may have missed it, but do we have any ideas yet of which comic dealers are rolling in? I’m hoping to see a bit of golden age i saw over on the Megacon thread the following dealers showed up: Dale Roberts Graham Cracker Comics High Grade Comics Daves Comics out of Georgia Harley Yee id love to see that here in dallas. Prices were reportedly high at Megacon, reflecting the general bubble insanity we have seen, but lots of activity and the dealers were all glad they’d made the trip. im sorry cgc won’t be making the trip. I’ve got some things to send in, but I’m a “white knuckler” when I think of all the ways it can go wrong with the mail im going to wear a name tag with my boardie name and I hope to run into some of youse guys. If you see the name tag, please say hello hey @Cat-Man_America, what do you say?
  14. It’s a fine book, and I’m glad for you. And maybe a bit jealous too! When you land that wheelhouse book, it’s a feeling like no other
  15. The only 2003 advice I took issue with, knowing what we do today, was where someone suggested high grade mid run issues would appreciate more than lower grade keys. I think lower grade keys have and will be the better bet. Even low grade AF 15s are going for crazy money. Same with low grade Cap 1s and Bat 1s
  16. I know!!! Based on our recent convo I should have seen it coming, but it was still a shock
  17. 18 years later, this advice is about what I’d expect today
