No, I definitely don’t work for clink. I consigned some stuff at the current and former auctions (as I do at Heritage) but noted that here in the forum that Clink seems to be judged as old, outdated and from the past compared to Heritage.
I think that the market is so big and healthy that it needs at least three-four big auction houses to further flourish. I see the danger that Heritage pushes smaller auction houses out of the market, if we start to ignore the other auctions (that often also have fine artwork).
And as we -as always- already had a big thread for the upcoming Heritage auction here in this forum (don’t know if anybody here works for Heritage or consigned artwork to the June-session), I wanted to put a tiny spotlight on the main auction of Clink that starts in some days.

Oh and I am really interested in your opinion of the current „right“ evaluation of early John Buscema/Sinnott pages, as there were in the last Comiclink auctions multiple panel pages from FF 112 which were sold for up to 35k, which was far above the results in other recent auctions. Is that an anomaly or is this a hint for a re-valuation of early John Buscema/Sinnott pages?

I think that Ian Bertram and Tradd Moore are currently doing exceptional art. Little Bird and Silver Surfer Black contain great artwork.
And yes, there is very, very strong European art (don’t know where to start and stop. It is an endless field..)

You seem to be pushing clink stuff quite a bit across multiple threads

    are these your consignments?

    do you work for clink?

No, I definitely don’t work for clink. I consigned some stuff at the current and former auctions (as I do at Heritage). I also buy art in both auction houses.

I noted that in this forum Clink seems to have a hard time and is judged as old, outdated and from the past compared to Heritage.

Honestly, I would just take it as Scott at Catskill isn’t trying to rake collectors over the coals, which translates to flippers gotta flip.

Really very nice Sinnott pages at Catskill but this here is another league of quality pages in the auction here I think

One of my favorite living European artists is Hermann. And here an example from Ian Bertram

  5. How would you rate FF and Thor pages from early Buscema/Sinnott runs?

There are 5 nice FF/Thor pages in the upcoming Clink Spring auction (Clink has even an own Buscema/Sinnott „corner“, which is a nice idea I think as the inker is usually no criteria of order in auctions… Buscema pages are always listed as Buscema even when the end result is so different droending on the multitude of inkers that worked on his pencils) and the last results of Buscema/Sinnott pages at Clink were in my view really astonishing…. Is that a recalibration of the market towards early Buscema/Sinnott pages or were these results an exception?

Alive, yes. Didn't they have 14 pages of original art auction last time around though? They only have ten this time. That's a 29% drop in volume.

Sorry, I don’t get your point…. 14? 10? I can see today 160 lots in the Original Art section, some of them (eg the Darwyn Cooke lot with 3 consecutive pages) have multiple pages. And the auction seems to grow daily.

    beautiful

There is really nice artwork in this Clink-Spring auction. It seems as if Clink is alive and kicking (despite the discussion in another topic here in the forum that CLINK is to old-fashioned to attract good pieces).
Maybe I am wrong but I have the feeling that they attract nice pages and had especially pretty good results when it comes to Buscema/Sinnott pages (but I don’t know why…).

  8. Hi, does anybody have some background information about Carlos Garzon, an inker from Columbia (?) that did some prestigious stuff all through the 80s (Star Wars, Blade Runner (both with Al Williamson as penciller) and Cosmic Odyssee (with Mike Mignola as penciller)), but I can't find any further information and don't know why he suddenly appears at the beginning of the 80s and then disappears again at the end of the 80s. I think he was a very good inker and therefore wondered if anybody here in this forum has some more info (there is no Wiki entry). Thanks in advance!
