  1. I wouldn’t risk it, tbh. With that defect a 9.8 is a longshot, and you’ll risk a drop in grade. Could you live with a 9.4?
  2. Same. I’m convinced that the one book I sent wasn’t even pressed since the before and after pics I took were identical (aside from the crunched corner that wasn’t there when I sent it).
  3. AND they managed to crowdfund their trip to SDCC. So despite routinely buying and selling five- and six-figure books, they’re pocketing thousands more from “fans.” Wild.
  4. Great example of the appeal of some of the labels. They look amazing when paired with the book the art is generated from (like Wolverine #2 and JiM #83), but wonky otherwise, especially when SA art is paired with a modern book, or vice versa.
  5. I should have clarified low- to mid-grade. High grade SA keys are out of range for many collectors, even with an occasional dip.
  6. Some outliers, for sure. 7 and 16 seem to be holding steady, too. Biggest drops seems to be 1, and the Bronze/Copper Age keys: 131, 158, and 168.
  7. Hoping the market has finally corrected on this one (and 131). Sold a 9.6 three years ago for $1500, and recently bought one to fill that hole for $1K. Was wild that a 9.8 168 was selling for more than a mid-grade 1.
  8. Been tracking Daredevil prices for three years as I assembled a 1-300 run, and prices for major keys have plummeted in the last few months. A 168 (first Elektra) in 9.8 just sold for around $2K, when there were multiple sales of over $5K (which is absurdly high for this key) just a few months prior. Ditto for 1 (I’ve never seen so many copies for sale at one time).
  9. One issue Standard sub with custom label, rec’d 6/2, shipped 6/24. So by the time it’s in my hands again, about 30-ish days total out and back. About 1/3 longer than my previous two standard subs, but still pretty fast, all things considered.
  10. I finished it last week. Really enjoyed it. Even the sections on comics I wasn’t very familiar with, like Master of Kung-Fu, we’re riveting. And I was turned on to a lot of modern series/runs that I’ve neglected over the years. (Added about a dozen trades to my wishlist.) Was bummed that he didn’t do much with Daredevil (beyond mentioning Miller’s iconic runs), and his disdain for Heroes Reborn and the Jim Lee/Rob Liefeld era was super apparent. But overall, an indispensable read by an author who really loves the hobby/industry.
  11. Only SA book I regret selling is Strange Adventures 205. Was a low grade — 3.5 — but it had a lot of sentimental value. Biggest BA regret: Tie between DD 168 9.6 newsstand, and Special Marvel Edition 15 in 9.0. Biggest Copper regret: GI Joe 1 9.8 and 21 in 9.6.
  12. If collecting signed comics makes YOU happy, then it’s not a waste of time.
  13. The self-sealing graded comics bags by BCW are fantastic. Slab fits snugly, and they’re crystal clear. $14.40 for a pack of 100. BCW Resealable Bag for Graded Comics - 9'' x 14'' https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075FFHMQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BJVCASKZ3E4ZBZE5AM8H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  14. Was hoping for a higher grade, but at least it didn’t get a PLOD like my DD 7 submission. Sigh.
  15. Just arrived from CGC. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
  16. Add me to the resto club! Sigh. Had no idea there had been restoration done to this book when I bought it, so I’m a bit bummed that it came back with a purple label. Definitely encouraged by the optimistic posts in this thread, and it presents beautifully (despite the PLOD), so I may just keep it (versus flipping it for a blue label 3.5 or lower).
  17. My last modern FT (two comics, with CCS press) took less than a month.
  18. It’s a good looking book (a 9.8!) even with the wonky wrap. I collect DD and would be thrilled with this copy.
  19. The ‘90s-era hologram should be replaced with a QR code that links to the grader’s notes, and any other notation (missing pages, detached CF, cut-outs, etc.), accessible for free. The only condition notation on front of label (foe aesthetics) should be the page quality, IMO (and THAT should be moved off of the white grade label).
  20. This is similar to my experience. Used CCS and my high-value book came back with none of the pressable defects — a very minor finger bend, non-color breaking spine ticks, a light ripple — pressed out. I’m convinced that they never even pressed it.
  21. Should be fast, considering the cost. My one comic submission with custom label and USPS return shipping is $125. Plus $15-30 for insured USPS Priority. My last standard tier submission of two comics was $200+, with about a month TAT out and back.
