  1. I took a rule, using the millimeters side and measured that book and another Atlas book from about the same date. I could not detect any difference in length between the two books. Of course that may be due to the fact the books are slabbed and it's hard to obtain an exact measurement. That must be one micro trim.
  2. I just checked their help section to see what the qualifiers might be for returns. It does not look good. 1) "If the rare occasion arises where you feel you must return an item, you must contact us for return instructions within ten (10) days (by phone or email) of receipt of your item." The nail in the coffin 2) "Please note that we cannot accept returns on any books, including those with previously undetected restoration, after the specified return period listed here."
  3. Ii might just contact Comic Connect and see what they would do.
  4. Eleven contestants have supplied grades for this round. One contestant has 2 bullseyes.
  5. I picked it up for a reasonable cost, so I guess it's more of a minor irritant than anything. Does anyone know what kind of percentage hit a purple label book takes when it's time to sell?
  6. A recent re-arrival Tales to Astonish #16, that I purchased raw back in February of 2021. Sent it in to be pressed and graded. I bought the book on Comics Connect where it was graded at 5.5, however there was no mention of the fact that the top cover was trimmed.
  7. Whooped but still cool to taped torn written on and still cool
  8. Don't let Funnybooks you. Only a few grades have been submitted in this round so far.
  9. It's a beauty. I think it should grade out at 7.0, due to that larger dust shadow near the bottom of the back cover.
  10. Grading of restored books is new to me also. I thought this would get the restored grade, but had thought it might grade out at a 4.0. While the flaws are fairly numerous for the most part they are small in scope. The spine split is 1 3/4 inches. The dark spot on the left edge of the front cover is about 3/4 by 1 inch. The eye appeal is good so it's a keeper.
  11. From a colossal creature battling a small piece off the cover to another marvel monster who's battling off a big chunk of the cover.
  12. Yes, in a new thread for the reveal for round 2, and the third and last round in it's own thread as well.
  13. I think if you have a complete book it should grade out at least to a 2.0
  14. Thanks There is a 4.0 for sale on Ebay (in completed items now) that doesnt look near as nice.
  15. Round 2 scores are posted in a new thread. I had to run interference with muh dawg, then I was able to execute my process that determines the scores.
  16. First a few rules. ROUND 3 - Do not discuss grades with others either publicly or in private. - The grades will be from 0.5 to 9.8 only - You will have until 8 Pm (Central Time) FRIDAY December 2 to get your grades in for round 3. Some light dirt marks on left edge of back cover. 7) moderate bends to cover. moderate cover tanning. There is a light dust shadow on the left edge of the back cover that is 1/8 of an inch wide at the top and it tapers to 1/16 of an inch wide at the bottom. 8) Moderate cover tanning. Moderate creasing to cover.
