It's that time once again for collectors of all things comic to get together and indulge in dinner, drink and dance (okay, maybe not dance). Saturday August 26th at 8 PM at Gibson's Steakhouse , directly across the street from the convention center, where, in previous years, attendees were able to meet and talk to such great comic luminaries as: Neal Adams Bernie Wrightson Joe Jusko Maggie Thompson Michele Nolan This is an evening for collectors of comics (new and old), OA, pulps, BLBs to meet and hang out, indulging our inner comic geek. It's an opportunity for anyone to show off pieces they brought to the dinner from their collection, things they picked up at the con that day, or drool over once-in-a-lifetime books like: Action 1 Tec 27 Comics from the top GA pedigrees (Church, Larson, San Fran, etc) Details: Dinner is Saturday Aug 26th at 8 PM. It'll be held in the Stephens Room (also referred to as the Fireplace Room). Doors will open at 7 PM to allow attendees to get properly liquored up before dinner It's a cash bar, so don't blow all that money on comics. The menu consists of the following: House salad Center Cut Filet Mignon 10oz WR Chicago Cut 22oz Spicy Niman Ranch Pork Chop Broiled Salmon Spit Roasted Chicken Baked Potato Vegetable Combination Platter *If you're thinking of attending and you're a vegetarian or have a food allergy, please PM me so I can pass that information along to Gibsons* The cost is $90 per person. Details: Thursday Aug 24th 8 PM Blu Fish Sushi Bistro in Park Ridge. It's a few minutes from the convention center, and very easy to get to. Here's the address to input into your GPS device: Blu Fish Sushi Bistro 130 N Northwest Hwy. Park Ridge, IL 60068 (847) 720-4479 It's located in a small strip mall right near a Lenscrafters, so it shouldn't be too difficult to locate Their sushi is excellent. A group of us local collectors meet there for dinner every month and always have a great time. If you have any questions about pricing, click on the Menu tab on the link I posted and it'll give you a pretty good idea what to expect. Look forward to seeing everyone there **The group will be seated in an area called "the lounge". If you enter the restaurant from the street, it's immediately to your right. If you enter from the parking lot, it's at the opposite end of the restaurant and to the left. Tell the person working the front of the house that you're there for "the group in the lounge".
