Ya with how much the prices on the Knull books dropped id just sit tight and hope a few years from now he comes back bigger and better, and with a better writer tackling him. The time to sell those was prior or literally right after KiB5.

Venom 9 has been a hot book since the beginning of time. It’s only dropped in price as much as it did because of what Cates did to Dylan. Watching Top 10 lists on yt or reading Bleeding cool, it’s just always far too late. Definitely wouldn’t depend on those sites, channels to buy or sell. Just my opinion tho if it works for you then all power.

Right, so in your mind either don’t get a ratio #35 or wait until Dylan as Venom is actually a consistent character. Or get it now and hold to list when that innevitably happens. Do you actually believe Dylan as Venom isn’t going to happen after this issue? That’s your bet?

I was that guy. And no I haven’t changed my mind at all I sold all of my Venom 3’s and my Dylan books right when I got news of what Cates did to both character in KIB. I still don’t believe Knull is coming back anytime soon. But if you haven’t already unloaded, probably best to hold off now that the price has dropped so much on those books. Venom 7 and 9 will start getting back to those higher prices but I don’t know that they will hit the heights they did when I listed the majority of mine. Obviously I held 9.8s of all 3 of those books for the PC long term hold but after KIB 5, absolutely was the time to unload. Hence all the sales those following weeks. Venom 35 def brings tho Dylan spec back from the dead no doubt tho.

If you don’t think this book has any relevancy, I’d expect that you’ve listed and sold all your Knull books too then. The two go hand in hand. Do your thing, bro.

No ones missing any bag or discounting anything. This is just common sense. If you don’t think your gonna see Dylan as Venom post this book and more often than not within 3 to 5 years, lol, well you have every right to believe that, despite the lack of any logic involved in such a belief.

Sure if your out of touch with the amount of Venom collectors out there and how nutty their buying habits are. The Venom 7 and 9 sales are plenty evidence to the contrary. Go ratio, all the variants and what not I agree. Print run is far too high to not go ratio. But if you can get ratio at a good price, do it. This is the first book in which Dylan Brock becomes a superhero with suit in the 616. Once Dylan is Venom in his own book or they bring back Knull, this will be your book. But by all means follow your gut.

No, see your missing the entire point of why 7 and 9 are selling hot right now after this news started to hit the web. 7 and 9 are heating up solely because of Venom #35. It’s driving Dylan’s first apps to heat up. So I fully disagree, if you can snag at least one of the ratio 1:50 1:100 then do it. You’ll be happy you did sooner than later. The 1:500 obviously is a banger but it’s just far too expensive for my tastes.

Fools errand if and only if you truly don’t believe Dylan will be Venom in the comics and regularly sooner than later. If and when Knull comes back especially, Dylan as Venom will go hand in hand. Honestly this is one of the more common sense spec books of recent memory. Ratio buy and hold is worth it. People don’t even realize Dylan becomes Venom yet because it hasn’t been widely reported publicly yet. Everyone knew a new Venom was in the book. No one knew Dylan was the new Venom until this weekend. A new Venom is a fart in the wind. Dylan becoming the new Venom is why it’s in any way relevant as everyone thought Dylan was done considering Knull stripped him of his powers. Hence why Venom 7 and 9 prices plummeted. They will go up again now tho.

No one had any idea that Dylan gets a costume and becomes Venom in this book. It was posted on the CHU secret Lounge group thread (rolls eyes) and so privately a small handful on that site knew. Bill at Economics in Comics is the first to publicly drop the scoop and that was last night. Since then I’ve seen the 1:100 go for 175 so it’s already heating up. Venom has a gigantic print run so ratio is definitely the way to go for this one. The comic makes it pretty obvious it’s setting up Dylan as Venom going forward, and the costume is SICK. Definitely holding one for long term as I expect Dylan as Venom will get utilized in the comics as time goes on and I’ll be flipping one ASAP as I got both under ratio and if it’s selling for 175 now, mess I can’t NOT list it lol.

Absolutely. Don’t get me wrong the 89 hype was real. The Hell Arisen shenanigans simply stemmed from two separate official sources saying two different things, and the official correction of said info coming post FOC is why it all gone so blown up by your typical comic related YTbers like Comics Tom (sigh). But yes Hell Arisen 3 has a tiny print run by modern standards compared to your Batman, Venom, those types of main title books from DC or Marvel. Sounds like you were completely on top of it though. I have multiple 9.8s and almost all of the run has corner damage from the dull knife that was used to cut that run. So lots of 9.6s out there as this also led to bindery tears and other issues when being handled for racks

Sure, you can point out a dozen or a couple dozen, whatever. But the majority of people who bought 89, if not all of them, bought it for Punchline. The Hell Arisen 3 craze was BECAUSE people wanted to get in on Jokers new partner in crime. Yes, a lot of it was spec, but there was also a ton of hype around the character herself. You being able to point out a dozen people on forums doesn’t change that.

Actually youre both right and wrong. I did some digging. Here’s what actually happened. Tynion dropped his news letter on January 20th, 2020. If you go read that letter, he says the first full appearance is going to be Batman #92 and that Hell Arisen 3 is Punchlines second cameo. On February 7th, 2020, DC officially puts out a press release saying Hell Arisen 3 is a “First Full Appearance”. This press release that disputes Tynion’s claim of Hell Arisen 3 being another cameo came out AFTER FOC for the book. So I mixed up Tynion’s Letter with DC’s official correction of the info within his blog. This led to mass confusion and people freaking out due to FOC for the book already having passed, driving the book to reach sales on EBay prior to release that we’re pretty nutty. The reason it was under ordered is because everyone was going by Tynions news letter and thought Hell Arisen 3 was just another cameo, and no one was buying the first two issues of Hell Arisen on top of that as it was a low print, fart in the wind mini series so barely any of #3 were ordered and THIS is what caused the shortage. It was so bad that many believed Tynion intentionally lied about Hell Arisen 3 being her first full in order to create More Hype for a book that he knew would have a quarter of the print run of Batman TOPS, if that. So I was wrong in that Tynions letter DID come out prior to that FOC, you are absolutely correct on this and thank you for correcting me on this as it drove me to go back over it all. he simply gave inaccurate info within it that everyone took at face value. But you are incorrect in that it had anything to do with people thinking she wouldn’t be worth it. Batman 89’s insane sales prove exactly the opposite. It was all about Tynions news letter and the info within that caused the mass under ordering of the book. I mean Hell Arisen 3 has been the hottest single book of both 2020 and 2021. Nothing has come out since that generated that kind of hype and I don’t know that you’ll see something so similar anytime soon as with Tynion giving bad info, it was the perfect storm. It’s more likely that Tynion thought Hell Arisen 3 actually would end up being considered a cameo. He simply was mistaken in that regard as the market and CGC said otherwise.

Batman 89 was heavily ordered. Not talking about the Punchline one shot. I’m referring to her first full appearance: Hell Arisen #3. 35k print run, most of the run damaged with dull knife, and every shop under ordered or didn’t order at all because Tynion didn’t drop the news about her being in that book until after FOC for Hell Arisen #3. People lined up outside shops trying to get a copy. It was a spec wet dream, really. WB picked up the rights to use her on tv and film and she’s a really hot char for DC. But the buy in on a 9.8 is around 400 now and it’s only going up so I’m not sure it’s worth it to get in now unless you have the cash. Her book will only increase though. Hottest new char of the last couple years
