  1. I haven't bought from them in years (because I bought a few hundred last tie) but I use get mine from e-Gerber. I haven't researched since but at the time they were the cheapest" https://www.egerber.com/catalog_archives.htm I typically just go with their 1117R (4 mil think mylar) and do not use a board (although they sell that too) for standard OA. I also have some 1114R and 1218R for other sizes You have to call them to order though and I think there was message posts that they had a big backlog. Malvin
  2. Thanks Will, that's exactly it. No point me leaving a comment but I will probably have to fight that battle again next time it comes to market. Malvin
  3. Thanks! But I think your post is an example of @Shemp post above. We got sidetracked in our discussion Malvin
  4. Thanks Shemp Yes, you are right. The main initial issue was that in an attempt to legitimize his piece when I pointed out to the auction house that it was an inked prelim, the consignor argued that his has real pencils while mine was light boxed (since he can't argue that his was published since it was different from the print). The guy used the auction description on this post, which impugned my piece saying it was light boxed. Some of my posts also argue that mine was the published one rather than the underlying issue (as did others). Although when he changed his description to be more vague, it implied that his was published. As for leaving my comment up. My initial attempt was to stop his piece from disparaging mine, and hopefully educate him. I didn't want to harass him if he didn't want to change his mind. As well, I think he bought premium membership since other comments have been deleted. Hopefully this CGC post doesn't get deleted and will serve as documentation on the background behind the 2 pieces Malvin
  5. Thanks Jason, especially on doing all that comparison work. I don't think he is angling for resale, he just believes what the auction listing said. He doesn't even believe the Kevin Maguire note, he says too bad we won't have a chance to show Kevin Maguire both pieces at once Malvin
  6. Thanks all. I actually deleted my comments on his CAF piece after he removed the description that says mine has no pencils. He is still convinced that his could be real and no one really knows, even though I got Maguire to verify mine. Malvin
  7. Here is my story I have Kevin Maguire Booster Gold and Blue Beetle original pencil and ink piece original of a print of it to sell at conventions. Kevin sold the prelim separately, and another collector had the prelim inked by Mark Farmer. It got sold a few times and eventually went to auction. I told the auction house that the piece being auctioned was an inked prelim, the consignor double down and said his piece is the true pencil piece, since you can still see the pencils, whereas mine is lightboxed/bluelined because you can no longer see pencils. You can actually see pencils on mine, but it is faint since pencils are usually erased when inked, as experienced collectors would know. I should have pushed harder but that was that. I did run into Kevin at a con recently, and I had him confirm that mine is pencils and inks and he kindly signed the back attesting to that. Here is my piece on CAF (and I've added extra images showing pencils and Kevin's note note on the back) https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1143049 The latest owner just posted his piece, and he repeated the auction house description (that mine has no pencils). Maybe my comment and message to him was a bit strong, but he said he just wants to be let alone to enjoy his piece, and asked me to delete my comment. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=2009545 Let me add that I don't blame the original collector for inking a prelim (I've done it, although in my case it was an abandoned prelim with no "published" piece). I don't blame the current collector as he is new, but the entire situation is frustrating since my piece is now impugned. And I also get that with prelims, they can get inked to create duplicates (I recall hearing one artist not selling prelims for that very reason) Heck, this exact same issue was why I bought a partially inked prelim to a piece I already have, so that no one gets it fully inked to confuse what I have: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=906811 https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=882380 He is probably reading this and I know he has friends on this board. What do to? Ask him to change his description and I'll delete the comment? He is still convinced that his piece is more legitimate than mine, since you can't see pencils on mine. Malvin
  8. Sorry to hear that Mark Bright passed. I had to find which page had it, but as others have said, I'll let Romeo Tanghal sing his praises, which you can see on the back of this page I have https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?Piece=1155199 Malvin
  9. What you are saying reminds me of myself when I started out. I started early (late 90's) but when I really started going again around 2004, I had a mental block of $500. I could afford more (and certainly a $2K piece is just 4 $500 pages) but mentally I couldn't spend that much on a piece. I can't remember what did it but I eventually overcame that mental block. I think the one factor was the actual value of the page. After all, it's a no brainer to spend $1K when the page is worth $1.5K. So.. if you can afford $500, you can afford $2k if you really like it. It's just four $500 pages. It doesn't sound like you only buy one $500 page a year so you can afford $2K at one time. It's a mental block. That you have to figure out how to brea. And yes, I subscribe to buy what you like, so I can't answer your questions bout bigger name artist and less content vs less famous artist and better content. Really depends what you like, and what kind of value you think the page has. Malvin

The 2 items ending are: 1. Mark Martin Gnatrat vs Wolverine 2. David Boswell Reid Fleming sketch One of them has a bid too! 13. I just uploaded 2 more pieces: 1. Spawn Issue 75 page by Capullo and Miki 2. Jay Anacleto Power Girl Cover (AH! Homage) CAF Link Malvin
  14. Hi Folks, I uploaded some Batman related art to my CAF: 1. A Kelley Jones Batman vs. Solomon Grundy Commissio 2. This one is odder. It's original art related to the Batman: The Animated Series. It's not from the comic book. It's not animation art. There isn't even Batman in it. But it's the art for the background buildings in the press kit they used to sell the show! The art is by Ted Blackman Link to CAF Recent Uploads (since they are in different galleries) Thanks for looking Malvin
  15. Is there really any negotiation though? Isn't it just a function of the value of your total consignment? One may be an awesome negotiator, but if the items are only worth the minimum (be it $5K or $10K). I don't think they will move from their list prices. Your only leverage is that you will chose another auction house. And again, at $10K or so, I don't think they will care. Malvin
  16. What kind of Maroon buys from HA and sells at CLINK? It's supposed to be the other way! Malvin
  17. Here is a lazy reply https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetailsearch.asp?aty=9&gcat=614 Malvin
  18. I also HOPE that theory is correct. Our hobby is "one of one" because there is only one original page, but there are a lot of substitutes, i.e. unless you are fixated on a specific page, there are other pages from the same writer/artist team from that issue (or issues) with the superhero in costume and in action. Malvin
  19. I'm guessing that it may be a mess or hassle to pay the artist to do that. Malvin
  20. Just got back from my local big show (FanExpo). I didn't get a lot this year but still had fun. I got: 1. A Joshua Swaby Scarlett from GI Joe Commission 2. A Travis Mercer Green Arrow Pinup 3. A Max Dunbar Young Justice Cover Link to recent CAF uploads Thanks for looking Malvin
  21. Yeah, it sounds like you should start your PayPal claim now if it is still within the claim window. Good luck Malvin
  22. I've never bought art from them but I'm seeing social media posts that some artists are posting they are no longer with Cadence. Malvin
  23. New collectors who make a big splash as a whole are less common to begin with Those that stay and those that disappear about both less common. Malvin
  24. I think I know who you are talking about. Was it by chance Batman covers? Over the years I've seen some new collectors making big buys then disappearing. Of course there are also new collectors who make big splashes and keep on going. Malvin
