This cover is horrible, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar!
JazzMan replied to Get Marwood & I's topic in Comics General
I actually dig it. Reminds me of the late Darwyn Cooke, of which I was a big fan of.- 595 replies

I'm not saying this is standard, but when I won Azkaban's lot I was receiving stuff all the way into March or April. With Greggy, you just get one...refrigerator size box

Soooo many good things still remain. I always look forward to this time of year to celebrate the board generosity and good will. Thanks all, now off to spend some family time!

Official 2023 CGC Chat Boards Holiday Gift Exchange Sign-up
JazzMan replied to HollyJollyOne's topic in Comics General
So glad you received it and that you liked it. As for the wrapping, I can take no credit for it since it's all my wonderful wife's handy talent! She goes all out in decorating and never skimps on making sure that a gift is given as much attention to the presentation as to the contents. I always love this time of the year with the gift exchanges! It's truly the most wonderful time of the year! -

Happy Christmas, everyone! I opened my presents first by unwrapping the outer dull plain brown paper to find a beautifully wrapped box in festive colors. After further unwrapping I was delighted to find exactly what I had asked for. It's a Christmas miracle! Thank you so much @Murphman13 for the wonderful gifts this year! They are going straight to my collection after I read the stories like a sixth grader on the floor flipping through the pages under the tree! -
This saddens me. I remember that I hosted the CGC board dinner back in 2009 or 2010 at Emerald City comic con in Seattle and met Mike for the first time. I introduced him to Matt Nelson who was heading Classics at the time and Mike was giddy for Matt's work and wanted to learn as much as he could from him. Those were better days. I wish Mike well and for him to make ammends to all those who trusted him.

Question for the completionist who have said stop
JazzMan replied to BA773's topic in Comics General
I don't generally collect moderns, so for me it's not a matter of picking up a weekly/monthly pull from the comic shop. I've dabbled into being a completist because it's the thrill of the hunt that motivates me. I began big and quickly found that it's better to focus on runs like 1-100 or story arcs. Recently I've focused my collecting on bronze age marvel titles. These are ideal because there were so many titles from my youth that were short lived in the 70s. Now, some are longer than others...Defenders was 152 issues, Marvel 2 in 1 was 100 but there were lots of 75 and under issue runs like Rom, Ms. Marvel, Nova, Invaders, Amazing Adventures, and so on. As a contrast I started with ASM 1-100, which I did ultimately complete and sell but those were different days 20 years ago...high grade ASMs were still affordable. I can't buy a rag with staples of that run without paying through the nose, it seems. Maybe it's not a question of stopping but of refocussing. -

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
JazzMan replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
Collector type variations, I would suspect. I don't give a rat's patooty about the variants but I would see a completist wanting all three. For me, I'm good with the direct version. I haven't checked GPA, but is there a significant demand for the canadian price variant? That would be a new nuance for me. What's next? A run on pence copies? -
