  1. Starting the Fighting Yanks with obviously #1. Bought this on the boards years. I forget his screen name but his name was George and he was from the UK. Not sure if he still posts but he had an awesome collection of books.
  2. I am happy to see the thread has not been zapped as I believe it is healthy discussion and could be used by the grading company to see their customer's insights. Grading is subjective and I am not suggesting that grading practices should change based on disgruntled submitters but at least to note consistency should be paramount across staff changes and over time. Like Zolne says, many or most of us GA collectors have been collecting and grading books for a lot longer than third party grading has been around. A few may even know how to accurately and consistently grade Thanks to @Sqeggs for initiating the discussion.
  3. Not on this one, Corey. I think I would throw low ball bids on some books and happen to win them. The only hoard with a story is Wonder #9. When I get to it, I'll post why so many.
  4. I hadn't realized that. I haven't looked at census numbers on any of the books but would think there are some numbers. Wait till we get to Wonder 9.
  5. From Jungle to Western I was fortunate to add some Rockfords and dupes to close out the series. Actually I have Rockfords of the last three issues.
  6. 55 thru 59. Not sure how 59 gets a classic bondage cover. I like it but I personally wouldn't tag it as that. Lots others from other publishers I think deserve it above this one
  7. 45 thru 49. I loved the way Schomburg drew robots. The classic Human Torch 23, Brick Bradford 6 and so many in what he did with the Nedors. A Big Apple and a "D" (Crippen) ped in here.
  8. Thought I would post the 39 separately. It has become a beast of book and I am so happy to have bought it when I did. Still pricey but not crazy like today. Bought raw and turned on target with what I had it pegged.
  9. 34 thru 38 More great war covers and with 35 I went back to my android phone top take the pics. Tried a borrowed digital camera but not as clear as the phone. The camera is more than a few years old though.
  10. 31-33 with two 33s. The higher graded copy has a tape pull and was surprised that it wasn't punished more harshly. Some more great war covers.
  11. And the 28 - a Gerber no-show but honestly, it was by no means, not the toughest to find. Exciting 17 for me was the last one I needed and actually the net to last I needed to complete all the set. It is a low grader as much of the collection is but it presents well. And such a great underwater Schomburg cover.
  12. 26 and 27. The 27 was a raw purchase is an incredibly solid book. I normally don't carp on CGC's grading but that was one I thought would be higher. Nevertheless, a great cover and happy to have it.
  13. #20 thru 25. Funny story on the 22 - I won it through HA a while back and thought I would save on shipping. I live in Oklahoma and when my daughter was younger, we would take weekend trips to Dallas for a getaway. I asked HA to hold the book and I would pick it up from their offices. I had thought I would have to pay tax since I lived in Oklahoma but since I paid for the book in Texas, I got zapped for the tax and it was more than what shipping to my house would have cost Not a ton of money obviously but a learning experience for me.
  14. Low grader but in the fold - I actually picked that up along with the 39 - both raw. A load of money at the time but a bargain by today's value. Coming up with the next group.
  15. Depending, of course, on the shipping method/service. But yes in most cases for USPS Priority (with adequate insurance, signature confirmation - if not free for the level of insurance), I believe would be pretty on target.
