Post examples of artists adding in a 'portrait' of themselves or someone else into a comic as a character. I think Neal Adams based the appearance of a character, Aloysius Calbot, the villain in The Brave & the Bold Vol 1 93, on himself. I actually tried reaching out to Neal to confirm this a few years ago by messaging the Facebook page where he did live art presentations. I think his son is the admin on it. Anyway I didn't get a reply and now I never will. Maybe one of you gurus can confirm it for me. Maybe I'm silly but see the images below and judge for yourself. Post examples of where artists have based characters in comics on themselves or others. See the top right panel below, a drawing of "Aloysius Calbot" the villain of BB93. (I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so let's just say it's his one & only appearance ) In the same issue there is an article about DC artists who have won awards at a convention. Neal Adams won 2 awards and a drawing of him is provided. Unfortunately I couldn't get this website to display this image file the right way up. Anyway see the sketch near the top right. To me the two men drawn are almost identical. Here's the cover of the comic in question. I'm sure there will be people who disagree and say it's just a common look of the times or something

Hi, My family and I are trying to go through my father's old comic book collection. I found this comic and was offered $1000 for it. I think it's worth more and in better shape than that price. Please take a look and let me know what grade you think it is. Thank you in advance.

Hi there, One of my comic book buddies pointed this one out to me. Most of the books in this series are not even full cover price in NM. But we noticed on mycomicshop.com and ebay that this book is going for $100-200 ++ https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ivitems=19798471#44400354 So is there any explanation for the price on this one other than "Zatannas on the cover" JL

Hello everyone, been a member close to a year, haven't posted anything yet other than this. I bought once from a boardie back in April. I am selling some of my collection, as far as references https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=zeezee4_9&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2050430.m2531.l4585. Rules: No sales to Hall of Shame or Probation List offenders. All sales will be via Paypal Goods and Services. Listed sale prices already include any additional fees incurred on my end. Payment is expected within 48hrs of invoice being sent. After payment is received, I ship the very next business day. Occasionally life may try to interfere, but you will be notified of any delays. The first person to claim the book in the thread by stating "I'll take it" (or similar) gets the book and trumps any PM's or offers. No returns for graded comics. Raw comics may be returned at buyers expense within 7 business days of initial delivery. Shipping: Graded Comics: $14 flat fee for anywhere in the US. This will be Priority Mail shipping and I also include insurance and signature receipt for any single shipment valued $125 or more. All graded comics are shipped in Priority Mail boxes with plenty of bubble wrap and extra wrapping paper/peanuts. Raw Comics: 1-3 comics $4 for First Class Mail. 4-8 comics $8 Priority Mail. 9+ Comics $10 Priority Mail. Depending on the number of comics, I normally use heavily reinforced bubble mailers (first class) or Gemini Comic Mailers/Priority Mail boxes. Condition of Comics: Unless stated otherwise, you can safely assume that all graded comic slabs are in 'as new' condition with no scratches or cracks. 90% of what I have has been slabbed by this year. Unless stated otherwise, you can safely assume that all raw comics are: free from restoration, complete, and fully attached at both staples (cover and all wraps). References: While I am relatively new to the CGC board (lurking over the last 7 months or so), I am certainly no newbie when it comes to invoicing, updating tracking, packaging and posting items. My eBay feedback is here: https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=collector_in_pa I can also provide FB references as I have bought/sold through multiple comic selling groups.

Hey Everyone, Longtime comic collector, total newbie here (so if I mess something up, please forgive me). I picked up this copy of Brave and the Bold #25 at a yard sale today and thought I'd share it here. In addition to what you see on the front and back cover, there's a smudge on the first page (pictured); and the tear on the back cover carries on in a significantly smaller way on the last couple pages (pictured). But enough chit-chat. Photos: Front Cover: Back Cover: First page (Smudge) Internal Tear EDIT: Someone commented below and I realized I hadn't provided a proper explanation for this final image. The book came bagged and boarded, held shut with a piece of tape which had a piece of the cover stuck to it. The front cover image above is how the comic looks on its own; the one below is mostly for novelty, showing how the book looks with the tape appropriately placed over the book (while bagged/boarded). So again: the tape is on the bag, not the book. Sorry for the confusion.

Low Content Mode Week, Anagram Style with Supergirl and Wonder Woman!
tomo posted a journal entry in Turning Bronze and Copper into Steel
Low content mode week continues, as we delve deeper into the latest purchases for my collection, through the skewed lens of anagrams. This next book I picked up off of eBay after a fellow boardie tipped me off that this is, in fact, the first use of the Supergirl masthead. From what I could turn up, it does appear that The Brave And The Bold #63 from January 1965 is in fact the first usage. It predates Action Comics #334 from March 1966 by over a year, which I would have guessed previously was the first. All in all, a nice little bit of trivia that I was previously unaware of. Now, on to the anagrams... Supergirl = pig rulers Kara Zor-El = kale razor Linda Lee Danvers = lavender denials or vanilla needs red There's nothing there that gives us any secret insight into Supergirl, so let's try Wonder Woman... Wonder Woman = onward women That's better, a nice feminine mantra hidden in plain sight! Lastly, how about Multi-Face... Multi-Face = a cute MILF I'm not so sure about that, but who am I to cast aspersions. I journal, you decide....-
