Now this is an added touch for CSG. The fact the company wants to interact with customers is a plus. sent my first two submission to test the waters (15+10) level. One submission was 5 cards snd the other 6. They arrived safely and am looking forward to tracking them when out into the system. My next submission will be larger as picture shows I also look forward to using CGC, yes son love Pokémon and we opened lots of 1st Edition Team Rocket, but did not play the game.

If i bought a green label HULK 181 missing the stamp and taped in a stamp where it was missing...how would that impact the overall grade? Also, it is currently a 5.5 Green Qualified label, would it be a Purple or blue label after doing that? Thanks, Curtis

Hey Guys i am about to send a book for grading which is in a near mint condition overall. However, I have noticed a small scratch on the front cover. how much do you think it will impact the grade ? thank you all for your help !

First time trying out CGC, sent in a small batch of 7 cards to be graded. Paid the highest possible price for supposedly 2 day walkthrough grading. CGC received the package on dec 8th, posted it “scheduled for grading” on December 9th, and have had no update since. Very unprofessional for a company to state roughly 2 days and not be able to complete 7 cards in 4 days and counting. No warning of delays posted on website before or during submission. No emails sent personally to let me know about any delays. Will not be returning to CGC and taking my business to BGS for $50 premium service.

I have a Holo Pokemon card with a swirl. A holo swirl does bump the price a bit. Should I indicate the swirl under Pedigree or Variant 2?

Just picked up this GSX 1 in the wild and in the buck! Just wondering your thoughts on a grade. The book has a very light stain you can see on the cover, passing through the ‘n’ on x-men and the ‘t’ on giant. It is very light. The book has a light waviness but I think it will all press out. How does a very light stain affect the grade? I am thinking that with a press and clean the book would be about a 6.5 Or 7 if it didn’t have the stain... but with the stain?? Thanks for your help armchair grading experts!

Grading help. Nice flat, clean copy. Some colour breaks at the top spine in the blue box, but other then that is pretty! Thoughts? I was thinking a 7 or 7.5?

Are Finger Bends out of Control? Is it just me or are we seeing a lot of Finger Bends lately? In the past 6 months, more than 60% of my Submissions are coming back with this on the Grader Notes. I've gotten this on Comics that have never read before and only handled to put in bag with backboard. I'm not sure if this is just me being over sensitive or if it's a real issue? I have been collecting for over 30 years and have some idea what to look for when sending in my comics, but I'm just not seeing these Finger Bends when I send them to CGC. Please don't take this as me blaming the graders either, I know many people handle the comics besides them. I am a first time poster on the Chat Boards, So if anyone has any advice for me that would be great!

Good afternoon. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with posters. GCG grades posters but very little is known. Has anyone had experience with pressing their posters prior to grading? I'm told that a call into CGC resulted in the CGC person not even knowing that pressing of posters was done. It all seems to be a mystery. Anything you can add is appreciated.

Will CGC expand the trading cards they grade in the future, such as yugioh and dragon ball Z as both these games are very popular along with new trading card games to hit the market?

Hello I am a new Pokémon card collector and I am wondering if it would be smart to send in a couple cards to cgc. I’ve looked at all other grading services and this seems like it will be the best for me long term. I have a secret rare Salamander VMAX rainbow rare that I just pulled today as well as some other not as hyped cards, being grimmasnarl VMAX 115/189, Houndoom V 021/189, and Rhyperior V 095/189. I will submit photos of these and just want people’s opinions on whether or not I should send these cards in. Also how do I send them in and what price range would my cards go under.

I would like to help facilitate fellow collectors sending their trading cards to CGC as at present in the UK PSA have a monopoly on card grading as they have UK affiliates. Does CGC run a similar program and if so what are the requirements?

I wanted to see what others thought. What grade would you give this? And would a press and clean be beneficial, like always thanks in advance for the responses.

Hello, in planning which comics to send to a CGC private signing, I have some books that were previously signed for the Heroes Initiative. I understand that CGC cannot authenticate those signatures, but will having them on the cover reduce the grading since they're written on? To be clear the current signatures are for artists/writers other than who I'd be sending it in for the private signature event. Thanks so much.

I'm a new comic collector that's 4 years late on the Overstreet Grading Guide, so I apologize if this issue has come up numerous times before. It's very frustrating to spend $25 on a book that's riddled with inconsistencies. Especially when the book is suppose to GUIDE you, not confuse you. I'm going to list a few examples of things that really bothered me. All they needed was a proofreader and these errors could have been taken care of before printing. A few examples below: Example 1 (pg. 272) GOOD+ description states "Paper is brown but not brittle", and the very first example picture (pg. 274) says "Hidden defects: brittle pages" and "Page Quality: brown, brittle". HUH? Explain that one for me please. I'm waiting... Example 2 (pg. 282) GOOD description states "Paper is brown but not brittle" and the very first example picture (pg. 284) says "Hidden defects: Brittle interior pages" HUH? Explain that one for me please. I'm waiting... see the stupid and lazy inconsistency between GOOD+ and GOOD "brittle descriptions"? One hidden defect said "Brittle pages" and the other said "Brittle interior pages". WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?!?!? All pages are interiors! That's lazy writing. Period. Example 3 (pg. 298) FAIR/GOOD description states "A copy in this grade still has all pages and covers, although there may be pieces missing up to and INCLUDING MISSING COUPONS and/or Marvel Value Stamps that do not impact the story". That's great and all, but why then, on the very next page (299), does COUPON CUT say "none allowed"? Explain that one for me please. I'm waiting... Example 4 (pg. 350) The 4.0 Very Good example pic of The Amazing Spider-Man #50. They have an arrow pointing to "Date stamp" on the cover. INCONSISTENCY ALERT! Here is the description for 4.0 Very Good on pg. 242: "Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade." Ok that's great. Then why did you point out the date stamp in the example pic as if it was a defect?!?!??!?! Lazy again, folks. All they needed was a proofreader. And don't get me started on this guy using different words throughout the book to describe the exact same thing. Just stick with one word so it becomes universal. Abraded or Rounded? Pick one! You don't need to use one or the other every other time. The book's title should've been "The Overstreet Inconsistent Guide to Grading Comics". I notice they have all the "advisors" in the back of the book. Maybe I can be one since I'm advising Overstreet to stop being inconsistent and lazy. Maybe hire a proofreader next time, buddy.

Hey all! Do signature series subs have to be sent to Sarasota via UPS or can they go regular mail? ty!

Hello. I have purchased CGC graded comics but this is my first time ever submitting some anything to CGC to be graded. I am an associate level member and have chose to use UPS grounds as my mailing option which was 14 dollars per comic. I was able to pack my comics following the Shipping Kit and Packing Tips. I printed out the invoice containing which comics I'm sending out to them as well as the services I requested, but realized that there was no shipping label? Again it's my first time, so i am a little confused because from previous experiences, sending stuff out using online systems I have been able to get a shipping label out, from what i can recall. Or am i wrong? Ebay allows me to print a shipping label after I've sold items on their site to be mailed out, does CGC not? is the 14 dollars UPS Grounds fee only for returning your stuff back once CGC has graded or done the services from which you've chosen from? Please help me? Is there somewhere i can print a label from since i already paid 14 bucks for shipping or do I have to pay more at the UPS/USPS/FedEx store? Im confused..

Hey guys, how does one make a window bag for a signing? is it just as simple as cutting a section of the bag that's in away for the signature? In that case I just answered my question. sorry

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay to get this going! It's been a busy summer and I have been MIA on these boards for most of it. However, now that the delay is over......it's time! With the greatest of respect and a tip of my hat to the irreplaceable Nik, I would like to offer for your fun and enjoyment, the 7th annual CGC Green Eggs Grading Contest. On Friday, September 20th, I will officially start this grading contest over in the "Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?" section of the boards. This here is the sign up thread, for all interested. Everyone is welcome to join in. Please post here if you would like to play in this contest. It's a lot of fun, and there will be prizes. 1.) You will see 2 books per round, for 10 rounds. The contest will begin on September 20th and (should) end on October 10th. 2.) There will be an approximate 48 hour time limit between rounds. I will confirm the end time for all rounds once the contest starts. I will send everyone a PM on the day the contest starts. You are to look at the books; figure out the grades and reply to that very same PM that I started with you. Again, this will be the same PM thread that you will use to submit all grades for all rounds. Please do not create a new PM for each grade submission. 3.) No changing of grades will be allowed once submitted. Post only one single, numerical grade for each book. If you post more than one grade (e.g. 8.5/9.0) then your submission for that round will be void. No excuses. As there will be 2 books per round, make it clear which grade is for which book. For example, say ASM #1 4.5 and on the next line say FF #12 8.0. Please don't screw this up. 4.) The page quality and any noticeable defects you can not see on the book from the scan will be given for each round. Do not PM with questions. Assume that all of the books have been pressed. The scans that you will be looking at will be of the book already inside the CGC case. 5.) Points awarded will be as follows; 5 points for a direct hit, 3 points for 1 grade off, 1 point for 2 grades off and -1 point for 3 grades off. If you are 4 grades off or more, I'm going to hit the "notify moderator" button. 6.) Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, and likely many, many more. From what we've seen in previous years, folks have been extremely generous and most people that enter will win a prize. Also,a booby prize will be given for last place. Last place is defined as the person who has participated in all the rounds and has the lowest score. You can not sign up, do nothing and win the booby prize. 7.) Sadly, sckao will not be lending a hand this year. It's been an amazing experience, having him hold my hand for over 6 years now, but he's a busy guy, so I don't blame him one bit! Thanks for being a legend among legends, Shin!

Hello all, I recently inherited an awesome Playboy collection. My passion has always been coins so the CGC is new to me. I don't understand the pricing outlined, but due to the contents inherited I need to be. I already have 2 of the top ten Playboy's sold at auction (I know this doesn't guarantee my copies to be valued the same by any means due to other factors: including a desire to have it and what condition it's in.) I stared in disbelief at the August 1993 edition, featuring Pamela Anderson and Dan Aykroyd, along with the original 1993 Seinfeld October edition; both of which brought over $5,000 in auction. I hope to not be wasting anyone's time by being in the wrong place or asking the wrong questions; but I needed to start somewhere. And thank you to those who have stuck it out thus far with me. Should I get an appraisal with a grading or just one or the other? I have 60 original unaltered, unmodified, unrestored issues and believe it or not for the most part 95% or so, in my unprofessional opinion, look as of they came off the shelf yesterday. Obviously delicately handled and well taken care of(Not an exaggeration). The years range from 1991-96, 2001-2003, and December 2014. In whole I am missing on average 3 a month. Thanks for reading, any and all help is invited and appreciated, Bethanie, your newest 🐰 babe!!

I'm a newbie, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. I recently got back into the collecting game and got some good ideas on learning how to assess the quality of comics from another post. One suggestion I received was to review graded comics listed at Heritage Comics. I'm not comfortable yet with assessing quality based on a picture. However, I've been buying comics from MyComicShop and Midtown Comics and trying to guess at the grade before I look at the label attached to the bag. Admittedly, this is going to give me exposure primarily to FN to NM comics since I'm not really buying lower quality. My question is: what is the community's experience with either or both seller's grading? Are they both pretty accurate? Is one better than the other? Thanks for the help.
