I've posted the photo of the Marvel Value Stamp from this IH181 in some other threads and gotten interesting feedback, but I thought I might pick you all's brains on what kind of grade this would get overall. The three main issues with this comic from my completely inexperienced eye are: 1. price is marked out with black marker 2. page yellowing that gets worse at the bottom 3. the MVS was cut out by the original owner, taped into the collectors book, removed from the collectors book then re-taped into the comic in the same position. I've heard someone say that'd definitely get a Restoration grade, but another person said it'd be Qualified and posted CGC's views about tape. He seemed to think it would get graded as if the stamp were not present, and points deducted for there being tape. Do you all agree with that? Given all the issues combined and the general state of the comic, what do you suppose a Qualified or even a Universal grade for this might be? Thanks all for any help! Edit: oh one more question since I'm here: Would the tape on the stamp cause any ill effects if I had this pressed? And/or is there really any value in having a book in this shape pressed?

The following guidelines are now in effect. Over some period of time these may be modified or expanded. As of now, dealers are allowed to post here as long as all guidelines are respected. No spamming. Group your for sale items into as few threads as is reasonable. Attempts to take up front page real estate by creating multiple threads for no reason are not allowed. One thread. List your books only once, and in the appropriate sub-forum. Incorrectly placed threads or books posted in multiple places will be moved. Repeat offenders will have their threads pulled completely. Two books being offered. One Copper, one Modern. It must be an exclusive board-only offer. If the book is offered for sale through another venue (ebay, dealer site, personal web site, etc.) then it should NOT be offered here. It should be offered in the Sales Advertising board. Exclusive to the board until they aren't anymore. Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered books are not allowed. It must list specific books with purchase prices. It is acceptable to bulk price, and/or to note that package discounts may be available, but you must list a starting price that you WILL sell for. List scans or information about the grade of the offered books. List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. I ONLY ship using United States Postal Service Priority Mail. I do NOT ship "Media Mail". I do NOT ship UPS. I do NOT ship FedEx. ONLY USPS Priority Mail. All prices listed below include USPS Priority Mail shipping in the United States. Shipment anywhere else in the world (including Canada) will cost significantly more. I don't know why Canadian shipping is so expensive, but it is. I ship at cost. I ship within 24 hours (usually much faster) of receiving payment. List acceptable forms of payment (NOTE: Personal PayPal payment is NOT allowed as a listed option in your post as it is not appropriate for item purchases.) Paypal. Check. Cash. A return policy must be stated with any time limits indicated. They were a little harsh in Baltimore - especially on the Squirrel Girl book. If the case is cracked when you get it, you can return it to me OR ship it directly at my expense to Sarasota to be reholstered. If posting a trading thread you must list a dollar value price for the book that you WILL accept in TRADE VALUE, and you MUST put "TRADE ONLY" in the title of your thread if you will not accept money. Trades are acceptable but PM me - I will trade GPA for GPA, but on things I need only. Prompt responses must be made to buy requests made through the boards (posts or PMs). If there's a buy request, that means someone wants to give me money. I will respond quickly. Threads may be bumped three times total AND only ONE FULL DAY AFTER falling off of the front page. This does not include "sold" notices, or truly useful informational updates. Note: we CAN tell the difference between a real update and a fake bump-update. Tread that line at your own risk. I started reading Wolverine comic somewhere during the winter of 1993, right after the cartoon started playing on television. I remember it all pretty well. I lived in Boston, me and my friends would shovel people houses out when it snowed for money. Then we would take our hard earned money and jump on the No 35 bus to West Roxbury to spend it all on comics. I remember the issues in mid 60’s and I remember being blown away by Issue 75 later on that year. I was always on hunt for the back issues to try and get a complete run, but the earliest issue I was able to get my hands on was #8 and it holds a special place in my collection. Summer of 1997 I moved from Boston out to the suburbs and that was about the end of my comic reading days… for then. It was only about 4 years but they were a great 4 years. Fast forward to 2004, I just finished college and moved down to Virginia for a job and more school at night. I didn’t know anyone so I had a lot of time on my hands and I did a lot of reading, mostly books. One day I came across the Essential Wolverine TPBs, cheap, black and white and complete runs. So I decided to pick up them up. I never had a full run before so the story line was always broken up and this was perfect. I wasn’t long that I decided to splurge on my next prized possession, Wolverine #1 (1988). At this point I didn’t know the difference between raw and slabbed (I didn’t even know slabs existed). I had no idea how to grade a book, but looking back it was probably a 7.0 on a good day. By the time I was on Essential Wolverine Vol 4 I started to get bored of the black and white images, the paper, and the book size. So off to EBay I went to hunt down 189 issues (still just raw). To minimize the dreaded “wall of text” I’ll give cliff notes version of the next few years. I got my 189 issues and all that time on EBay I started to notice more and more of these CGC slabs. So next came Wolverine #1 CGC 9.8, then #10, then why not get 1 thru 10, then why not go to 20. About that time I found the CGC Registry and then the forums. This is when I found out that I was just a little guppy a sea of whales. I realized that I knew nothing about comic collecting so would lurk on the forums for hours a night absorbing as much as I could. I registered my small collection in October of 2008 and the real fun started. At this point nobody had a full run, there were no #35’s graded in 9.8 and a good amount of the books had very low census numbers. So the hunt was on. I would check EBay daily for slabs or 9.8 candidates raw. I shortly learned that NM/M on EBay seller’s descriptions and NM/M from CGC were two different animals. So the weekends I was in my car driving around to find my 9.8’s. Somewhere in there I moved back to Boston where life was ready to take some more interesting turns. Around 2009 I had the opportunity to buy some old dealer stock of wolverine comics. There we a lot of very nice Wolverine #1 (Mini Series) in there and I convinced myself that I could flip them and a few others and pretty much be even and then have 20 or so wonderful long boxes of wolverine back issue where I could pull the rest of CGC 9.8 collection from. But it didn’t last long. Bringing 20-25 long boxes into my small apartment and trying to sort through them all was a task that I had neither the time nor space to handle. It wasn’t long until my then fiancé wanted the boxes out of there. So off they went to my parents’ house in my old bedroom until we had a house of our own. That was my next big stop, When I left I think I had a little over 50 slabs and it was ranked #7 in the registry. Fast forward again… Marriage, built a house, 3 kids, started a company… August 2017. My family has always informed me that I am impossible to buy presents for. Over the years, I have ended up a closet full of unworn sweaters, a pile of unopened gismos and stack of unused gift cards. In my mind, I’m just a simple man who doesn’t really want/need much but to my family I guess I’m a constant pain. They have tried to buy me comics but it never ends up very well and they always paying way more than they should for things. This year is different. I had an idea. I proposed to my wife that I would buy comics I needed throughout the year and hand them over to her on arrival. Then when people came asking what to buy me she would just “sell” them a book from her inventory. The whole extended family loved the idea. They never had to worry about me again. So I’m back and I’m going to do my best to keep the “inventory” stocked. Some might say that it takes away the spirit of gift giving but I really think that it will add a whole new level of meaning to my collecting. I could never sell a book my son gets me for father’s day or my wife get me for my anniversary. There will still be an element of surprise because I won’t know who is giving me what and nobody says they have to give me a comic in the first place. My first stop was to the boards to see what’s been going on for the last 8 years… and it was a lot. There were new names on top of the leaderboards, #35’s have been found, new books were added (what’s Doombringer?) and people were getting a lot signed. I also had to reach out to see if I could start sourcing some of these books. I’m going to be honest, I got a little ahead of myself and my first purchase was for 50 slabs. I got those home and decided that I would just hide them among my other comic boxes and start again with filling the inventory. The last piece of the puzzle I mentioned a little earlier. The massive amounts of back issues I had horded and stored at my parents’ house. Well, I have them now at my new house and I’m starting to go through them. I’ll be bagging and boarding every night until they are all sorted, categorized, and filed away. This journal is to track my progress on my Wolverine 1988 run and working my way through my horde. I was going through I bunch of long boxes I bought about 10 years ago and I came across a horde of Wolverine Battlebooks. I've never seen one so did a little searching around and it looks like a few people are hunting them down from time to time but not very often. I think a previous thread from a few years back called them an "oddity". It appears that they are a game of sorts that you play in comic book format. So my question is, does anyone know anything about these books? Should I keep these around or should they go into my 90's drek box? I must have 50 of these things.

Just picked up a copy of Hulk 181, my first "major" issue in my collection. It's seen some better days, I'm pretty new at collecting but it looks like maybe a 2.0-3.0? would love to see your thoughts before I send it in! Thanks

Here I'll be listing some raw X-men and Wolverine books I would like to move. The opportunity to purchase a "grail piece" in another area of personal interest has me wanting to move these. Good morning, all! Hope I'm posting this in an appropriate place... I've come looking for some advice. When I was 16 (over half my life ago), I was given a copy of Showcase 22 for Christmas. GL was my favorite character for years, and it was a huge gift. Since getting it, it has--literally--sat in a drawer. Last year, I got it graded, and it came to a 3.0. I'm 37 now, and I view the book as an investment for my daughter going to college (in about 10 years). I know that the book is roughly worth 1500-1600. I've been thinking about selling it now and turning the profit into a copy of Incredible Hulk 181 (probably looking to spend a bit to get an 8.0). In your opinion, 10 years from now, which would be better piece to have (Showcase 22 or Hulk 181). I understand that there are far more of the Hulk out there, but Wolverine is more popular than GL.... Thoughts?

Got a few books that might be of interest. I'd love to do a trade, but I'm really looking to turn these into another mega-key, either with cash or trade value. Special bonus points for an ASM 1, which is my primary focus, but also interested in TOS 39. Pretty much any grade, though I'm not really looking to add a lot of cash to a deal. Better to sell a set or single issues? Hey all, I have a couple sets that i'm considering selling like Hulk 180, 181 & 182 as well as X-Men 101 - 104. I also have some less expensive sets all from the bronze era as well and Im wondering if people have had more success selling sets or individual issues and from a collector standpoint, would you rather buy single issues or sets?

Art for Sale- Black Widow, Avengers, Perez, Gulacy, J G Jones Hi folks, I am doing a little spring cleaning and am offering these pieces for sale. I can be contacted either thru a PM here or thru my CAF gallery. I can accept paypal (fees go to buyer) and will ship internationally, provided the art is fully insured (or insured as much as can be) and traceable. Prices are pretty firm but I would be willing to listen to reasonable offers. So without further ado: Black Widow 3 (Variant cover): J G Jones revisits one of the characters he is most known for in this painted cover from 2014. This is actually 2 pieces- the Widow figure is on the one board and the bullseye and the cat is on a separate board (they were photo-shopped together during production). Modern sized art in excellent condition. and this is how it looks assembled: Black Widow pencil pin up: From the series that put J G Jones on the map, this penciled piece was originally published in a Wizard magazine and has many of the elements from that story arc, including Natasha, Yelena and Daredevil. This may have been in consideration to be used as a cover, I don’t remember. Here is a beautiful Paul Gulacy piece. This is the cover to Blue Diamond 2 from 1983, arguably the best of the series. This features Sybil Danning, a former “B” movie queen although this piece looks like it could have been done for the famed SQ Productions Black Widow portfolio. Modern Size art in excellent condition. Some of the background elements were done in marker, such as the docking station and have turned brown/purple. and the last one for now: Avengers 66 Cover: Here is a nice J G Jones Avengers Cover- this is from the popular Geoff Johns/Oliver Copiel Red Zone story line from 2003. This is fully painted art and is slightly oversized and in excellent condition. It features Captain America, the Scarlet Witch and the She Hulk. thanks for your time- hope to hear from some of you!
