I have always been a HUGE fan of Don Newton, i think he is th eepitome of underrated. His batman work is INCREDIBLE. I think his phantom cover paintings are too clunky, but his Charlton horror work was aces!

Clunky might be an accurate word in some respects. hm

I've corresponded with Newton's son, a tattoo artist out in Arizona.

Let's see some Newton Horror!!!! :wishluck:

Here is one who I think fits the category:

John Romita Jr, especially his early work with Layton on Iron Man.

No mention of Don Heck? Where's the love, man?

Heck drew GORGEOUS women.

Don Heck (1929-1995). I had to read to the end of this thread to find Mr. Heck. A shame that. He had a feeling for line in both pencils and inks that made him, at his prime, one of the greats.

Wikipedia entry: well worth the read.

POVonline Heck Obituary: nicely written.

Anytime I get a chance, here's my favorite Heck cover -

Heck really takes a beating on these boards at times.

This cover is nothing short of superb illustration. Tons of grace, action & fluid motion. Thanks for the post. Hats off to Don Heck for this one!
