Is return shipping from CGC insured?

2 posts in this topic

I'm about to submit my first books and I find the submission information on your site confusing and contradictory.

Your FAQ states "CGC does not provide insurance for books shipped from its facility to you. The carrier you choose may provide limited coverage. CGC urges you to investigate and secure proper means of insuring your books against damage in transit."

The CGC/Heritage on-line submission form states "Step 2 is your return shipping information. When we ship your comics back to you, we need a complete address. This is the area to enter the address where you'd like your comics delivered. All comics are delivered by USPS Registered & Insured Mail."

So which is it? Does the submittee specify a return shipment method and an insurance amount, or does CGC ship back via USPS Registered & Insured Mail only. If so, how does CGC determine the insurance amount on the return?

Who pays for the return shipping and insurance? Is it included in the submission fee?

Thanks

You select your return shipping method and the amount of insurance that you want for your books.

If you select Fed Ex 2-Day for up to 20 books you would pay $24 and the books would be insured for up to $500.

If you select Fed-Ex Next pm for up to 20 books you would pay $32 and the books would be insured for up to $500, next am is $45 for up to 20 books also insured at $500.

For any Fed Ex it is an additional $10 for each increment of up to 10 additional books.

For Registered, Insured USPS mail, we have a rate table on the back of our physical form, or the internet invoice automatically calculates the fee based upon the book values that were provided on the invoice. Any Registered, Insured packages are insured for the full declared value given by the customer for their books, unless otherwise requested by that customer. All packages are insured for at least $100 through USPS when shipped from our facility, at the customer's expense.

We will ship via UPS only if the customer provides us with an account number to be charged for shipping and insurance.
