My wishful thinking saw it at 6.0, which may have been optimistic on my part. CGC is a bit erratic on that particular book, as shown in another 5.0 I've seen (pictured below) .Thanks again for your thoughts.

Good point with that book. while it has much less spine creasing than your #2 copy, those missing pieces are BIG and that black smudge is very visible. I'd take your 5.0 over this one any day of the week............ sumo.gif

it always seems that Marvel chipping gets a break... hm

It does get downgraded a tad less because it's a production defect. Personally, I think that is the wrong way to do it. I would take the non-chipped 5.0 any day of the week over the chipped one. It's no comparison.

Of course, I also happen to think that SilverRich's book is nicer than 5.0 based on what I can see. I've had CGC 5.5s and 6.0s that look like that. I'll bet that if he just straight resubbed it, he'd have a better-than-50/50 shot at getting a higher grade.

My opinion is that when they're in the slab (presumably to stay), eye appeal becomes the biggest factor for the book. Page quality also, but you're not gonna see them anyway. I prefer the spine lines over the chips, as far as eye appeal goes.

This is further evidence that AF #15 is smoking hot. The cover clearly shows that smoke is billowing off of Spidey. stooges.gif

I can see these going even higher over the years. Spider-man is beyond comics now and a industry to himself. something like Sherlock Holmes and Dracula. timeless character.

Is the 5.0 listed for $13,500 the Heritage copy from last month being flipped? I didn't make a note of the S/N on that sale...

I know the buyer of the 5.0 and the ONLY reason that copy sold for what it did is because it had WHITE pages -- otherwise, it would've sold for a little over 10K (with BP).

The 5.0 on eBay has C/OW pages so no, it's not the same book.

Ah... I can see where White Pages would be worth a premium. After all, I'm usually willing to pay an extra 10% for them. Seems like the Heritage sale is being used as a precedent for raising the price on 5.0s in general, though.

Guide simply doesn't apply to AF 15. Best way to go is GPA which is roughly in the $1600-$1750 range if we're talking about a blue label, slabbed copy. :)

And I'd place that copy roughly in the GD to GVG range--too tired to be really accurate right now. Put a beer in me and I might go VG-, put another beer in me and I'll be bidding on it again
